GCR CARS & CIGARS
from Die Porsche Kassette
by Pcagcr
It was a spectacular spring evening in Doral. Sun setting in the west, that warm/cool temp with a light breeze, and then (of course) Great People, Great Cars, and Great Cigars!
Miura Cigars in Doral was the location for the first Gold Coast Cars & Cigars event, hosted by Jose Jimenez, our GRC member. Christy Spangler, Social Chair, and Mike Del Pozo, Board Member, assisted Jose. What a great evening we had, “smoke ‘em if ya got ‘em,” BOGT cigar pricing (buy one, get three), and a few refreshing liquids. We were also treated to the El Salvaje Food Trailer, offering up all kinds of great dishes. Could it get any better? In a word – YEAH!
The event was held between 6:30 and 9:30 pm on Friday, March 31st, and everyone had the opportunity to sit, puff on a stogie, tell great Porsche stories, and simply relax. A total of about 30-35 members attended, bringing around 25 Porsches of various vintages and models. Most everyone smoked a cigar, even Ms. Spangler, who managed to enjoy two of the smallest cigars anyone has ever seen –prodigious! Of course, there was a tremendous amount of legendary PCar camaraderie. Newer members mixed with seasoned vets, stories flowed about recent car members on process, procedure, and all things DE. Look for these sessions in the July-August timeframe. We have had discussions with the Hagerty Garage and Social management teams to hold one meeting in the Miami location and the second in the Delray Beach location.
DE is fun. Organizing a DE is a significant challenge. Hence, it takes time, effort, proper planning, and a good bit of luck, plus it needs interested participants and willing volunteers to be successful. Help us be part of the success!

acquisitions, and we even talked about plans for the Drivers Education program in Homestead later this year.
Thank you, Jose and the Miura Cigar crew, El Salvaje, and all the GCR members who came to Doral for a simple but spectacular evening. We got ‘em – we smoked ‘em, then we enjoyed the drive home. PORSCHE, THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE!
