CHARLESTON, WV - Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin recently joined children, families and autism advocates to light the State Capitol blue in support of the Autism Speaks Light It Up Blue campaign. "There is no greater joy than caring for a child-and as parents, we enthusiastically support our kids in everything they do," Gov. Tomblin said. "There are times, when we cannot do it alone-we must rely on the support of family, friends and others in our communities. For this reason and many more, I've proclaimed April as Autism Awareness Month." In support of World Autism Awareness Day and Autism Awareness Month, the State Capitol and Governor's Mansion

Governor Tomblin presents Records Management and Preservation Board Grants Putnam County among thirty county commissions receiving Grants CHARLESTON, WV - Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin recently presented thirty West Virginia county commissions with grants, totaling $427,540, for their respective records management and preservation projects. These projects, approved by the Records Management and Preservation Board (RMPB), will

improve management, storage conditions, access, and preservation of public records held in county government offices. "Every West Virginia county, and the people who call them home, have a story to tell and these grant funds will help preserve those stories for generations to come," Gov. Tomblin

said. The Records Management and Preservation Board staff will provide assistance in setting up the grant projects, which officially begin July 1, 2013. Putnam County Commission $15,307 - To scan and index deed books in the county clerk's office; and to purchase two color

scanners for map cards, assessments, and homestead exemptions in the assessor's office. The RMPB was created by the West Virginia Legislature in 2000 to develop a system of records management and preservation for county governments. FundSEE GRANTS ON PAGE 9
