Hurricane, Winfield girls battle

Every school classroom, gymnasium and cafeteria in Putnam County will soon be equipped with emergency kits, aimed to treat injuries and save lives in dire situations. CAMC Teays Valley donated 680 bags, containing more than $72,000 worth of lifesaving supplies such as tourniquets, warming blankets, dressings and forceps. The proactive measure makes Putnam County schools the first education system in West Virginia to take preparation this far, said Randy Hodges, president and CEO of CAMC Teays Valley. It's official: Putnam PSD will acquire Poca's sewer system. In a special election vote Saturday, residents chose 81-9 to move forward with what is projected to bring a slew of benefits to the town. These include the potential for lower sewer bills, a more efficient system and faster response times.
