Hurricane man sentenced to federal prison for possessing a stolen firearm STAFF REPORT HURRICANE - A Putnam County man has been sentenced to a year and a half in federal prison for possession of a stolen firearm. Robert Allen Armstrong, 25, of Hurricane, previously pleaded guilty in October 2012. He was sentenced on Monday, March 4, in federal court by U.S. District Chief Judge Robert C. Chambers. On July 16, 2010, officers with the Hurricane Police Department arrived at the defendant’s Putnam County residence to execute an arrest warrant. During the execution of the warrant, an officer seized a Raven Arms .25 caliber pistol from behind a planter located on the porch of the residence. Armstrong was arrested at the time. The defendant admitted that he possessed a Ruger .22 caliber pistol in his bedroom dresser at

WVSU Extension Service seeks small fruit farmers for Vineyard Tour INSTITUTE, WV - Fruit farmers and others interested in small fruit production, particularly grape production, are invited on a vineyard tour at Kirkwood Winery in Summersville hosted by West Virginia State University
(WVSU) Extension Service Saturday, March 23. The educational tour is the first of a planned series of vineyard tours throughout the state intended to increase interest in local fruit production. “We are providing an avenue
for people interested in small fruit production to see firsthand the proper pruning methods for fruit trees and learn various aspects of wine making, as well as have direct access to industry professionals,” said Brad
