Earl Ray Tomblin and First Lady Joanne Jaeger Tomblin have invited all West Virginians to honor our military men and women by contributing photos for the "Military Recognition" tree. Those wishing to participate are asked to send in photos of their loved ones or friends who have served or are serving in the military. SCOTT DEPOT - Minutes from the busy interstate, atop a brick building, stands a cross that shines in the autumn sun. Inside the doors below, people find hope, healing and deliverance. On Sundays, men and women from all walks of life, step onto a 5-acre piece of land off Teays Valley Road. They come, seeking help, grace and love. And they find it. They spread the good news of what they found to residents throughout Putnam County. A church grows. This is the story behind Scott Depot Christ Fellowship (The Depot). cess of a booming daycare and the profound effect that one church can have on a commu-

nity. After nearly 20 years, he is ready to impact the area in even bigger ways with the expansion of his church. “We’re not here by accident,” Taylor said. “We’re here by faith, and when you have a vision, you must have a willingness to make changes…Now, we’re reaching out with our building to impact the community.” Since its construction in 1938, “The Depot” has become too small to house its growing number of members. More than 650 call this non-denominational church theirs and they are excited about what the future holds. Putnam County Canvasses Votes By Justin Waybright justin@theputnamstandard.com

WINFIELD—Putnam County commissioners met Nov. 13 to canvass the votes received during the election. County Clerk Brian Wood led them into the courtroom where two groups of women were ready to count. The groups, along with commissioners, checked electronic vote tabulation of election night results, provisional ballots and vote tabulation from the Nov. 6 General Election. The process was a tedious one, taking hours of meticulous work. The canvassing had to follow guidelines from the Secretary of State’s Office to ensure accuracy. Wood is an advocate of the
