“God desires and is pleased to communicate with us through the avenues of our minds, our wills, and our emotions. The continuous and unembarrassed interchange of love and thought between God and the souls of the redeemed men and women is the throbbing heart of the New Testament.” — A. W. Tozer

“For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7b 1 & 2 Samuel tell the story of God establishing His Kingdom through two broken leaders: King Saul and King David. Saul was the king the people wanted. He was impressive and strong, but deep in his heart he was more interested in building his own kingdom than the Kingdom of God. David was the king the people needed. He was a man after God’s heart—courageous and faithful, yet flawed. But ultimately, 1 & 2 Samuel is a story about our need for the true King, Jesus Christ. Jesus is the King that we have been promised. He is the Savior King who gave up His own heart, by laying His life down on the cross. He is the King of kings and He has established His Kingdom forever. Join us on Sunday mornings this fall for our sermon series through the books of 1 & 2 Samuel: The King’s Heart. cassie.rawson@pcpc.org or 214-224-2737
