What Should I Give My Wife for Christmas?

BAPTISMS

November 17, 2019

Our marriage is fairly healthy, with the typical struggles that come with two sinners living together and trying to raise children. It has felt like a parade of mistakes at times. It was not for lack of trying, but we were not able to make positive and lasting changes. The same patterns kept repeating. Fortunately, my wife, Ashley, convinced me to go through re|engage at PCPC with her. Let me stress that something like re|engage is NOT the kind of thing I am generally interested in. I don’t particularly like reading books together or talking about my feelings. I know many of you can relate.

However, please trust me, committing to go through re|engage was one of the best decisions that I have made.

could become a greater source of happiness, life, strength, and joy than we thought possible.

Through re|engage I learned several important things. I was reminded that Ashley was God’s good gift to me. Second, I learned that our marriage is a unique relationship, and there is no one else on Earth that can do for me what Ashley can. I also learned

Re|engage is a commitment and a real investment of time and energy, no doubt, but I promise if you make the investment, you will reap the returns. What investment could be better than to invest your time into strengthening your marriage for a fruitful and joyful life together rather than settling for a marriage that is more typical in the world? Or what better investment to give your children than a marriage between their parents that serves as a strong and secure family foundation that will impact the rest of their lives. Even if your marriage is great, it will become stronger. And if your marriage is deeply struggling, with the power of Christ, there is hope, and it can be renewed. That is the truth, and it is good news.

that by the grace of God, Ashley was on my team and not against me. Together, we learned tools to change the burdensome patterns we had been struggling through in our marriage. With the power of Christ, our marriage

So if you are wondering what to give your spouse for Christmas, give each other a commitment to re|engage. It’s a gift that cannot be purchased on Amazon. It’s a gift that won’t get old and end up in the trash someday. Fall deeper in love with each other and deeper in love with Christ. You and your family will be glad you did. Merry Christmas!

What should I give my wife for Christmas? Now that is a challenge common to all married men! Well, I have an idea for you, but first, let’s talk about another that is common. If we took a little truth serum, we would all admit that our marriages can be challenging at times. Even the best marriages have challenges. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we all felt that our marriages were always a source of happiness, life, strength, and joy, rather than carrying the burden of these challenges? What a relief that would be!! It would be a dream come true. While it may not be completely attainable this side of Heaven, I am here to tell you from my experience that your marriage can grow and be more of a source of life regardless of your age, stage, or current relationship condition.
