VOL. XXXI, NO. 01 | JANUARY 18, 2020
The Lord has graciously brought to us a Ministry Leader for Nursery and Childcare: Carla Dillard! Carla comes from Austin where she served for twentyfive years as Children’s Ministry Director at Bannockburn Baptist Church. She and her husband, Steve, recently moved to Dallas. Those whom have met Carla will note her warmth, wisdom, excitement, and love for children to know and love Jesus. In Carla, we have seen a spirit that loves Jesus and children, someone dedicated to prayer, and a woman that exemplifies trusting and obeying the Lord wholeheartedly. Carla has been an answer to prayer for our ministry and church. She will oversee the Nursery Ministry (infants through toddlers) that our dear Gale Emerson led for so many years and the Childcare Ministry that Midge Hoerl coordinated. Carla has three children and nine grandchildren whom she dearly loves. Please welcome her to PCPC! carla.dillard@pcpc.org
BAPTISMS
Kaky Little talked about taking a year off from our Sunday school class to teach in the Children’s Ministry, and it impressed me that she would do that. It has been a privilege and a joy to encourage these children and watch their faith grow. I have enjoyed being involved in children’s ministry at PCPC and in working with other wonderful volunteers. —Diana Vick

It has been such a joy to see women fulfilling the Titus 2 mandate to "teach the younger women" as they faithfully serve with our preschoolers. Each of these precious women bring their own style of teaching to the classroom. As I stepped into the role as Ministry Lead to Preschool a few years ago, I could not have imagined how much fun it would be to serve alongside them each week and to celebrate God's goodness to us as they bring the Word to life to these students. Here's a snapshot:
• Wilson & Lendy Jones (CC#02) on the loss of her father; Coleman, Morgan, Jenny, Lane & Ellie Jones (CC#02) on the loss of their grandfather, Curtis Norman Leggett, on December 10, 2019.
Karen Koop teaches with us on Thursday morning and faithfully writes curriculum to match what Kay Gabrysch is teaching with the women each year. She is so creative and weaves games, crafts, and snacks together to reflect the major concept she is teaching each week.
Jacqueline Frances Magnuson daughter of Smily and Joseph Magnuson
Charles Henry Robinson IV son of Casey and Charlie Robinson
Betsy Curnes has been teaching since her younger days with her mom and brings each lesson to life with flannel. She fascinates the students with the biblical wisdom of three generations of gifted teachers.
• Malcolm & Suzanne Robertson (CC#08) on the loss of her mother; Janie E. Robertson (CC#08) on the loss of her grandmother, Roberta Jane Benesch, on December 12.
Charleen McCulloch, Sherry Burns, and Sarah Evans faithfully teach our youngest students, taking kids not so sure they want to study God's Word from timid and shy to excited to learn! They read books, do puzzles, and use puppets to show the students just how much they are loved and adored.
• Ben & Mimi Herd (CC#06) on the loss of his grandfather; Audrey, Isabel, & Sofia Herd (CC#06) on the loss of their great-grandfather, Bob L. Herd, on December 13, 2019.
Eunice Martine arrived in Dallas three years ago and promptly volunteered to serve in Preschool. Her creativity and intentionality to teach the Catechism has led her to create Catechism Bingo, Catechism Memory Cards, and the Catechism Bag which she faithfully uses to help write these truths on the tablets of the hearts of our youngest students.
• Veronica Pomeroy (CC#14) on the loss of her daughter, Carla Graham, on December 16, 2019.
Diana Vick faithfully serves in each of her grandchildren's classes each year. She is that gentle, quiet spirit in the room who makes sure every child feels welcomed, wanted, and comforted while their parents are away. She makes the classroom better and more conducive to learning.
• Jeff & Lori Turpin (CC#11) on the loss of his father; Will & Allison Dowell (CC#10) on the loss of her grandfather; Finn, Lori Frances, Charlie Dowell (CC#10) on the loss of their great-grandfather; Scott & Carroll Turpin (CC#11) loss of his father; Wilson & Kristen Vick (CC#07) on the loss of her grandfather; Sally Ann & Claire Vick (CC#07) on the loss of their great-grandfather, Jack A. Turpin, on December 21, 2019.

One of my favorite quotes is: “People forget what you say, they forget what you do, but they never forget how you make them feel.” Each of these ladies have become dear friends to me and to one another. We form the best kind of team as we work together, pray for each other, and seek to EXTEND His Kingdom come.

SAVE THE DATE ELEMENTARY DESSERT WARS: MOTHER/SON VALENTINE PARTY Wednesday, February 9 | 3:30–5:00 p.m. | Oak Lawn West
I was led to serve in Preschool simply by being asked to help. And the blessings have overflowed! Spending time with these precious children and being able to talk to them about Jesus has been such a privilege. —Charleen McCulloch
Pete Deison taught in our Sunday School and encouraged us to teach our grandchildren. Charleen had asked me to help in A Mother’s Heart, and my grandson was in that class, so it was a no-brainer to say yes. It really is a blessing to be part of a program that teaches the little ones truths we all need to learn. —Sarah Evans
