ur virtual VBS was an amazing success with families viewing it from all over! But don't worry if you didn't get a chance to jump on board because all our “School of Rock” videos are available at pcpc.org/vbs and through PCPC’s YouTube channel. These videos include a time of worship, a lesson with reinforcing skits and illustrations, messages from missionaries, and a corresponding craft project. Along with the videos, resources and serving opportunities are available to assist in hosting a successful and fun VBS or Backyard Bible Club whenever the time is right for you this summer.

Navigating the Ups & Downs W

e are so grateful for our Young Adult Ministry here at PCPC. So we wanted to check-in and see how many of them are doing during this season. How are they responding to the ups and downs? What has changed in their lives? What have they been able to do in order to maintain community? Check out these responses and continue to pray for our ministry to young adults throughout Dallas. To connect with the Young Adults Ministry, contact Kelsey Glover: kelsey.glover@pcpc.org or John Paul Schulze: johnpaul.schulze@pcpc.org.

How have you maintained relationships and community?

How do you feel you’ve changed?

I've been very active in virtual PCPC events - Sunday service, Sunday Young Adults, Monday night small group, Tuesday Morning Men's Bible Study, Thursday YA men's lunch. Also, making time to regularly check-in with people via text, phone, and Skype, and making the effort to acknowledge big events birthdays, anniversaries, and delayed wedding dates. —Edward Herrington

I have learned to have a greater dependence on the Lord in my day-to-day life, not just the big life decisions. Through this season I felt the Lord was saying, “I am enough.” I learned in a more functional way that Christ is enough; I don’t need activities, gathering with friends, sports, or anything but Him. Even though I greatly missed such things, I learned to rest in the Lord and simply enjoy His presence. —Elliott Farris

It has been a unique time to reach out to friends from past seasons of life. Having moved between three cities in the past five years, it has been fun to reignite some friendships from previous cities/experiences. — Kristin Lutek

I'd say I've become more focused on and mindful of God. Before it was really easy to go into my week and rush through my routines and before I knew it, I was coming up for air on Sunday again. There's been much more frequent renewal and check-in recently. —Cullen Stephens

I was part of a Bible study and Alpha, both of which continued meeting on Zoom. It was difficult, but both groups were full of individuals who were intentionally pursuing a relationship with Christ and each other. The Thursday Lunch & Learn with John Paul was a huge blessing and allowed me to learn, be encouraged, and connect with a couple other single guys. —Elliott Farris Front yard picnics are my new favorite thing. Zoom has allowed my extended family to come together weekly. It's been sweet to see our family encouraging and caring for one another while miles apart. But honestly, I think I had given friendships and my community a higher priority than my relationship with the Lord, prior to this season. I've felt space to appreciate community without being surrounded 24/7. —Megan Yohe

I feel comfortable with living life in a more rested and contemplative way. I am less scattered, more present in the moment, and feel more available for how God may be speaking to me. — Kristin Lutek The Lord has reminded me of His abundance as I appreciate the smallest or often overlooked blessings. I have changed by slowing down and depending more fully on the Lord for my daily bread. The Lord has reminded me the pace of life doesn't need to look like a sprint. —Megan Yohe A new sense of gratitude and clarity on what is important and where I should focus my time and energy. —Edward Herrington

What might be different for you on the other side of COVID-19? I am praying this season of slower paced living and reflection will allow me to live in a more integrated and aligned way, more discerning and attentive to the leading of the Holy Spirit in my life. — Kristin Lutek I love to look forward to time with friends and get excited about traveling adventures. I love to plan, but I think I will plan a little less and be more present in each day, than the future. We are given today and there is so much each day holds. if we slow down to take it all in. —Megan Yohe

A renewed outlook on life and refocusing emotional capital, personal/professional goals. Being more thankful and not taking so much for granted. —Edward Herrington This season challenged me in my spiritual disciplines and helped me realize the importance of enjoying God and spending time with Him because of who He is, regardless of my circumstances, what He’s given or might give me, or what challenges I’m faced with. I have learned how dependent I am on Him for my physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, and I pray that I will continue relying on Him when things are more stable. —Elliott Farris .
