Over the next week, PCPC will order bulk food product which will be packed by the PCPC Diaconate and distributed to a few ministry partners for families in their communities. Food ordered will feed a family of four for three weeks, at $160 per family. We want to care for as many as 1,000 families, primarily in West and South Dallas. If you would like to financially contribute to our COVID-19 & Disaster Relief projects, you can donate online at pcpc.org/give or write a check to Park Cities Presbyterian Church with “COVID-19 & Disaster Relief” in the memo line.

MISSIONS

OUR FAMILY

METANOIA PRISON MINISTRIES CORRESPONDENCE

Such a Time as This

– Tommy Overton

Dear church family, be encouraged. God has prepared us for this moment! We know that our sovereign, omniscient Lord has chosen us to be alive for “such a time as this.” So, what is “this time” for you? Fill in the blanks: this global pandemic is _____ and _____. Regardless of how you filled in the blanks, the good news is that our Good Shepherd has fed and led us for this time in history. From Joseph’s time in Egypt to John the Baptist’s time in the Jordan, we see how the Lord is uniquely preparing the way for His beloved people. The same is true for our time. Just look back over the past few years and see how the Lord has graciously prepared this particular expression of His Church for this pandemic. The Lord fed and led us to soak in portions of Scripture dealing with suffering and trials. For example, our most recent series, “So Great a Salvation.” This letter to the Hebrews was all about encouragement and exhortations to persevere through trials. But don’t forget about the series on Spiritual warfare as well. Here is my short list of other ways that God has prepare our PCPC church family for “such a time as this.” • The “Tackling Fear and Worry” summer series • The conference with Ed Welch, “Fear, Worry and the God of Rest” • The teaching in all the Women’s Bible studies • The Men’s Tuesday Morning Bible study, “By Faith: Believing God in an Unbelieving World” • What did God teach you in your Sunday Morning Community, small group, or Midweek class? • What did God reveal to you in Union or re|engage? • Do you remember the lessons learned from serving with City Missions, Children’s Ministry, or Helping Hands? • How did God prepare you for this crisis on a mission trip, a Silent Retreat, or the High School Florida Trip? • Do you see how God prepared us through previous disasters like Hurricane Katrina and the EF 3 Tornado back in October 2019? • Do not forget about the ways that God worked to lead us to the EXTEND Vision!

Are you wondering how to make a difference in the lives of others during these difficult days? You can make a big difference in the lives of prisoners! As we shelter-in-place, we must remember that our mission as Christ’s body has not changed. We are called to go and proclaim the hope we have in Him who has conquered death, hell, and the grave. We can continue our “going” to those in prison by corresponding and praying for them daily. If you would like to be a part of Metanoia Prison Ministries correspondence ministry, then here are the steps: 1. Contact Paul Miller so he can explain to you what it means to be a corresponder at pmiller@pcanet.org. 2. If you choose to be a corresponder, he will send you an application and instructions on where to send it once you complete it. If you are not ready to make this commitment but you would like to receive email newsletters, then simply email him at pmiller@pcanet.org and let him know you would like to be a subscriber.

YOUTH MIDDLE SCHOOL: MEALS FOR OUR HOMELESS NEIGHBORS

Let's come together to feed 100 homeless men & women in our community. Make a meal and drop it off at PCPC. What you can do: individually package a meal with a note or drawing in a ziplock baggie. Meal: turkey or ham sandwich (hearty), chips, fruit (soft on teeth, i.e. not an apple). Drop off at PCPC's Oak Lawn West parking lot on Saturday, April 25, between 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. meredith.scudder@pcpc.org

WOMEN Join the women of PCPC for Emerging: Crisis and God’s Power to Change Us, a study from the life of Elijah the Prophet. For more information, go to our website pcpc.org/women/bible-studies/early-morning/. leslie.newman@pcpc.org

EVERYONE

What would you add to this list? I could have added many more examples of God’s provision prior to this pandemic. We are not in control. We are not sufficient in our own strength, but God is!

ONLINE GIVING

Finally, don’t forget about Easter. The empty tomb changes everything. Just as the lyrics of the hymn, “The Power of the Cross” proclaims: For through Your suffering I am free. Death is crushed to death; Life is mine to live, Won through Your selfless love. Be encouraged that God has prepared you for this moment by the incomparable work of our Lord and Savior. Continue to abide in Christ!

Since we are not able to meet together at PCPC, we’ve moved not only our Worship service online, but we have a secure website and PCPC app where you can give online (including setting up recurring gifts). Please take advantage of this act of worship as the Lord provides and as He leads. Thank you! pcpc.org/give GENERAL FUND
