THISWEEK@PCPC VOL. XXXII, NO. 4 | FEBRUARY 27, 2021

Park Cities Presbyterian Church exists to extend the transforming presence of the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ in Dallas and to the world.

EVERYONE SUNDAY WORSHIP

We are continuing to assess the safety of our worshipers on a week to week basis. We are still REQUIRING all attendees to wear masks or cloth face coverings over the nose and mouth while in the church building. If you are uncomfortable with this, we understand and ask that you attend worship online. To help ensure we hold our worship services safely, we ask that you reserve a seat for you and childcare online at pcpc.org/reserve-seat. If you or anyone in your party have had COVID-like symptoms in the past 7 days, we ask that you please worship online with us at pcpc.org/live.

DEACON ASSISTANCE

In light of all the recent cold weather and its aftermath, please let us know if you have physical needs that our diaconate can assist with. We have a team waiting to help however possible. Please email deaconhelp@pcpc.org.

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING March 7

The Session of PCPC has approved a Congregational Meeting on Sunday, March 7, for the purpose of electing elders and deacons for the Classes of 2024 and 2025. To allow for a quorum of our congregation to participate in person with the restrictions of social distancing, the meeting will be during both the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services. Candidates have successfully completed the officer training classes and have been approved by the Session. Photos and profiles of the candidates are available online at pcpc.org/events and inside This Week. The ordination and installation will be in April during the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. worship services. Contact Sally Rogers, sally.rogers@pcpc.org or 214-224-2775.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

There are lots of ways you and your family can volunteer this year. We partner with organizations like Apartment Life, Bonton Farms, OurCalling, Vickery Trading Company, Mercy Street, and more as we extend the transforming presence of the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ in Dallas and to the world. Visit pcpc.org/volunteer to see upcoming volunteer opportunities.

2020 COVID-19 RECAP

OUR FAMILY BIRTHS

• Otto Felix Hilkemann, son of Erica and Adam Hilkemann (Old East Dallas Parish) on November 8, 2020.

As our city continues to grapple with the effects of the pandemic and recent weather, we can’t help but look back on 2020 with gratefulness for all the Lord allowed the COVID-19 Response Team to accomplish. Here are some highlights from the team’s efforts last year -

• Betsy Nell Waggoner, daughter of Wilson & Kendall Waggoner (North Dallas Parish) on February 10, 2021.

• Provided food for 7,300+ families in partnership with the North Texas Food Bank, Ben E. Keith, and Sysco. Ministry Partner recipients included For the Nations, Golden Gate Baptist, Cristo Rey Presbyterian, Casa del Lago, West Dallas Community School, North Dallas High School, PCPC ESL, YoungLife West Dallas, and others.

DEATHS

• Provided funding for relief to low-wage employees of small businesses in the Oak Lawn and Uptown areas that had been furloughed or had hours cut due to the shutdown. • Sourced and provided 50 gallons of liquid sanitizer, 1,000 rolls of toilet paper, 2,000 surgical masks, 100 gallons of laundry detergent, 50 gallons liquid soap, and other sanitary supplies to ministry partners when all of these items were in short supply nationwide. • Packed and provided 2,500 resource bags containing Bibles, coloring books, and other evangelism materials to our ministry partner families served by the food relief. • Provided 650 family-sized meals to first responder families at the Highland Park, University Park, and Oak Lawn police and fire departments.

• Mary Laurence Gurley, daughter of Lance & Rebecca Gurley (Park Cities Hyer Elementary Parish) on February 12, 2021. • Mary Ann Edney (Northeast Dallas Parish), wife of Don Edney (Northeast Dallas Parish) on January 25, 2021. • Lisa L. budget

• Provided funding for 240 individual counseling sessions for people impacted by the crisis who are unable to afford counseling.

2020/2021 operating budget July 1, 2020—February 14, 2021 budget July 1, 2020—February 14, 2021 giving Budget Variance

• Provided resources for ministry partners, allowing them to continue providing services. This included outdoor sanitizing stations, outdoor tents and tables, technology to record educational material for young students, and software licensing for educational materials. None of this would have been possible without your generosity, and the faithfulness of an amazing team of volunteers. We are deeply thankful for you! pcpc.org/coronavirus/
