UPCOMING OPPORTUNITIES MEET OUR SESSION

In Ephesians 4:11-16, Paul describes Jesus as having given shepherds and teachers for our discipleship, for the promotion of healthy congregational life, and for God’s glory to be displayed in the church. He has given these men as gifts that we might “grow up in every way into Him who is the head (Ephesians 4:15),” namely, Jesus Christ. Take some time to get to know our newest session elders. pcpc.org/officers

UPCOMING OPPORTUNITIES DAILY PRAYER GUIDE

What has it been like to RE|ENTER? It’s hard to believe we spent a year from the confines of our home. When everything had turned upside down, I remember how nice it was to at least have something familiar on Sunday mornings. From our home, we sang along with the hymns and stood for the reading of God’s Word like normal. Yet, it felt like our voices carried a couple of feet and dropped off a cliff. Connection to the church body felt illusive and vague. This past spring, nearly a year after being gone, I was so excited for my family to worship in person again, to be connected. It took a bit to get into the swing of things. My three-year-old son had grown quite accustomed to casual Sundays and wrangling him into something more than underwear proved difficult. But we were making it, and slowly our new norm had emerged. But even after weeks of returning, I was blindsided by how disconnected I still felt. Wasn’t this what I had been waiting for? Wasn’t this what I sought? It’s like I wrapped up all my wires in 2020, stuffed them into that random box where printer cords go to die, and now I didn’t know how to untangle and reorganize everything. Is it just me? I remember talking things over with my husband, always the balance to my gut reactions, and him calmly listening. He then said, “We always prescribe to others that to be connected to the church means doing the work and becoming involved. And if we’re serious, we had better take our own medicine.” But how? I would encourage that if you feel this way too, pickup your RE-ENTER Journal and work through it. Meditate and dig deep. Answer the thought provoking questions, and ask God to show you how to Connect, Abide, and Extend. Re-read the vows which are actually very helpful as they offer support. When I don’t FEEL connected, my membership vows are a concrete reminder that I AM connected. You may have walked past these journals every Sunday, but not stopped to see how God can use it to reconnect you. In the journal’s introduction, it says, “We believe deeply that the Lord has called our church family to this moment.” This moment, for me, is full of disconnection, but it does not catch my God off guard. I’m working through it because “He [God] is everything, and we long to be all in.” Toward the end of the journal and online at pcpc. org/renew, each of us has an opportunity to write a prayer of renewal. My prayer is that God would renew again in me His transforming presence through His Word and His Body at PCPC. Even though our RE-ENTER Vision Series has concluded, the journey of being connected to the beauty of Christ’s Bride is on-going, even if it’s a bit messy in the meantime. Maybe it’s the disconnection that helped me understand the importance of connection. pcpc.org/renew

Available Now At PCPC our desire is for people to Connect to Christ, Abide in Christ, and Extend Christ. We have developed a daily resource to read Scripture and spend time in prayer. Grab a hard copy or read along on the PCPC app (download via Apple App Store or Google Play Store for free), so you can have access wherever you are. This guide is an invitation to experience the wonder of God’s transforming presence in daily life. pcpc.org/resources
