regarding extending His Kingdom to our neighborhood, our city, and our world. We looked at the current needs of our body and we envisioned the future of Park Cities Presbyterian Church. During this prayerful process, the Extend vision was born.
wenty-five years ago the Lord called Park Cities Presbyterian Church to the mission of extending the transforming presence of the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ in Dallas and to the world. For 25 years, God has fulfilled this calling by doing extraordinary things through the ordinary men and women of PCPC. By His goodness, He gave us a building strategically located in the heart of Dallas. By His faithfulness, He has used PCPC to extend His Kingdom from Dallas to the whole world by planting more than 160 new churches—from Houston to Santa Fe, from Russia to Thailand. By His mercy, He has established new ministries all over our city—from the Park Cities to downtown, from Oak Lawn to West Dallas. Now, after 25 years, we celebrate the amazing things the Lord has accomplished through His church, and we look forward to what He is calling us to for the next 25 years and beyond.
The Extend vision is more than a campaign—it is a calling—a calling for every man, woman, and child of Park Cities Presbyterian Church to extend the Kingdom of Jesus Christ for generations to come. As we pursue this vision together, we are motivated by the love Christ has extended to us, rescuing us to bring Him glory for all eternity. For His Kingdom,

T
he word extend has been foundational for PCPC. It is taken directly from our mission statement: PARK CITIES PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH EXISTS TO EXTEND THE TRANSFORMING PRESENCE OF THE KINGDOM OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST IN DALLAS AND TO THE WORLD.
Webster’s Dictionary defines the word extend in this way: - to cause to cover a larger area, make longer or wider; - to hold something out to someone; - to exert or exercise oneself to the utmost. From generation to generation, Park Cities Presbyterian Church has been a church that exists not for itself but for extending the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

A
s we look forward to the next 25 years, we believe God is calling the men, women, and children of PCPC to further extend the Kingdom of Jesus Christ through three distinct initiatives:
7
TO ALL WHO ARE SPIRITUALLY WEARY AND SEEK REST; TO ALL WHO MOURN AND LONG FOR COMFORT; TO ALL WHO STRUGGLE AND DESIRE VICTORY; TO ALL WHO SIN AND NEED A SAVIOR; TO ALL WHO ARE STRANGERS AND WANT FELLOWSHIP; TO ALL WHO HUNGER AND THIRST AFTER RIGHTEOUSNESS; AND TO ALL WHO WILL COME, THIS CHURCH OPENS WIDE HER DOORS AND OFFERS WELCOME IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. e thank the Lord for planting PCPC in this specific location. From this footprint, we want to love our neighbors well by extending the hope of Christ in every direction. In order to more effectively accomplish this mission, we need to create New Doors of entry that will enable us to extend the Kingdom of Jesus Christ to our neighborhood and city. PCPC’s campus plan defines New Doors where the Extend vision is energized, as we gather to worship, grow in community, and mobilize every member for Kingdom impact. These New Doors center on several areas of improvement to our existing church campus to support growing ministry opportunities and to create a more meaningful connection to our city.

NEW CHILDREN’S MINISTRY SPACE God has given us the great joy and responsibility of ministering to over 700 children. With the ongoing growth of our Children’s Ministry, we are running out of space. Improved space will serve as a new door for the unchurched families of our city. This plan calls for new space that will not only engage children and their parents with the Gospel, but will reflect that children are a high priority to us, just as they were to Jesus. We will offer a dynamic Mother’s Day Out Ministry to hundreds of our families, reserving space for under-privileged families as well.

NEW YOUTH MINISTRY SPACE
NEW COMMUNITY SPACE
From our beginning, the youth of our church and community have been a high priority. The current building they meet in is in disrepair and not worth refurbishing. In this plan, the youth will have new space that will greatly impact their times of fellowship, Bible study, evangelism, and praise. These New Doors to our Youth Ministry will be compelling to families and youth in our church and to the hundreds we reach out to each year.
Many of the New Doors of our church are centered on welcoming broken people into the church in order that they may know the extending love and grace of Jesus Christ. We need to create better community space that will allow our people and those the Lord brings to our church to grow in their relationship with the Lord through many different ministries such as:

NEW OUTREACH SPACE English as a Second Language (ESL) is thriving. We are quickly running out of space, and the potential to reach so many more through this ministry is exciting. We would like to see more ESL groups and other outreach ministries use our church as place where the Gospel is extended.
NEW LAND We recognize that being a city church requires land that is both expensive and difficult to acquire. In a story that only God could write, PCPC has been given the opportunity to purchase every home on Newton Court along with the street itself. Added together, God has made a way for us to expand our campus with 1.7 acres of new land that connects directly to our church property.
NEW PARKING SPACE PCPC currently has 157 parking spaces for a congregation of 5,000 people. On a given Sunday morning, 600-700 cars are parked on-site and throughout the neighborhood. And more than just an issue on Sundays, our current parking space limits our ability to minister in our city seven days a week. Parking is a major obstacle to church growth, particularly for newcomers, young families, and those with disabilities. We consider this a matter of hospitality for those coming to our church and for those who live around us. To that end, the Extend vision will allow our campus parking to grow from 157 to 450 spaces. WHY BUILD NEW DOORS? PCPC’s campus is strategically located in the heart of the city at the intersection of Highland Park and Uptown, East Dallas and West Dallas. This location is not just a blessing for the members of PCPC, but a calling to Gospel witness in the city of Dallas. As we consider new options for church growth, our mission to the city of Dallas and to the world is paramount. The Extend vision does not end with a building. By investing into our church at this location, we will be better equipped to extend the Kingdom of Jesus Christ far beyond our doors.

PRAY FOR NEW DOORS As the apostle Paul prayed in Colossians 4:3, it is our sincere prayer that every square inch of our church property would serve as an “open door for the Word, to declare the mystery of Christ.” We invite you to join us in praying for these New Doors: • Pray for the hundreds of families and volunteers who make up our Children’s Ministry • Pray for the many students who make up our Youth Ministry • Pray that God would use PCPC to reach unchurched families in our city • Pray for the ministry of our small groups, Sunday Morning Communities, men’s & women’s Bible studies • Pray for the outreach of PCPC, that every square inch of our campus would be used to extend the Kingdom of Jesus Christ

e praise the Lord for how He has used PCPC to plant more than 160 churches over the past 25 years. The Extend vision calls for us to plant new “extending churches” in Dallas, the U.S., and around the world. All of our church plants will be connected deeply to PCPC, our Extend vision, and philosophy of ministry. We will commit to planting churches that are:

CONNECTING CHURCHES
T
he task of church planting is a difficult one, especially for church planters, missionaries, and their families. They can often feel isolated and stressed, which can lead to burnout. We want to plant healthy churches by connecting church planters and missionaries to PCPC and to one another. As colaborers, we share resources as we share in the Great Commission. As companions, we will commit to training, soul care, and accountability, ensuring that each new church is strengthened by a deep and abiding relationship with Jesus Christ.

EXTENDING CHURCHES In 1997 God called us to plant 100 churches by the year 2020. Out of that vision the Southwest Church Planting Network was born. Now 20 years later, God has exceeded our expectations by planting more than 160 churches through the ministry of PCPC. The Extend vision calls PCPC to continue this effort of planting churches in our city, our nation, and our world. We want every church we plant to be an extending church. To that end, we will commit to planting missional churches that also plant churches. In addition to planting new churches in Dallas, we will continue to plant churches nationally through the Southwest Church Planting Network as well as internationally.

CROSS-CULTURAL CHURCHES
W
e live in a cross-cultural city. The greater Dallas/Fort Worth area has reached a tipping point with no majority ethnic group. To serve our city well, we must plant cross-cultural churches. The Extend vision calls us to plant a Hispanic church at PCPC, anticipating it will be a large addition to our congregation. Additionally, we will partner with local churches and church-planting networks that are committed to extending the Gospel to every neighborhood and every culture in our city. OF THE ROUGHLY

y His grace and for His glory, we desire for PCPC to have an enormous impact for the good of our city. The Extend vision calls us to engage our city with the hope of the Gospel in four areas:
P OVE R TY | LEADERSHI P | RACI AL RECONC IL IAT ION | T RU T H
29
POVERTY
RACIAL RECONCILIATION
e will address the overwhelming needs of the poor in our city by engaging in incarnational ministry that will help reverse poverty trends. We will support ministries that are truly extending the hope of Christ, as well as developing new models that will help us love the poor out of poverty.
In 2016 our denomination, the Presbyterian Church in America, passed a resolution to recommit itself to “the Gospel task of racial reconciliation. PCPC will continue to lead in addressing issues of racial brokenness in Dallas by partnering with other churches to proclaim the beauty of the Gospel to all mankind. We will worship together, pray together, and serve the city together, showing the power of the love of Christ in our love for one another.

LEADERSHIP
TRUTH
e will help train and equip leaders to serve the city to lead in every sphere of influence through growing Pegasus Fellowship and PCPC@WORK. It is our desire to see our city and world transformed as our members seek to honor God in the various work environments in which He has strategically placed them. Through these initiatives, we will prepare our people to think biblically, to reflect corporately, and to act strategically as God’s ambassadors in their public lives.
More than anything else, we live in a city that desperately needs the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We will continue to proclaim the truth of God’s Word in love through every ministry of PCPC. This means we take seriously the Great Commission in our own city. We affirm the responsibility of each person to repent and believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and our responsibility to extend the Gospel invitation as a call to salvation to everyone who hears its message.

“The two sides of Dallas, the spiritual and the worldly, seem hard to reconcile. The city and suburbs hold about 1,200 churches, roughly two-thirds of which can be classified as staunchly within the most conservative strains of American religion... At the same time, Dallas is a city that worships success, especially financial success. And it is a city lurching without grace through a slough of social problems: Its divorce rate is the highest in the country; its child abuse and teenage pregnancy rates are almost as high. You could as easily make a case for Dallas’ being the most worldly city in America as the most Christian.” - “Is Dallas the Most Christian City in the Nation?” D Magazine
PRAY FOR A NEW CITY
• Pray that the trends of poverty in Dallas would be reversed • Pray that Dallas churches would work together for the Gospel task of racial reconciliation • Pray that God would raise up Christian leaders to influence every sector of our city • Pray that every person in our city would be reached with the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ

“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though He was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. - Philippians 2:5-11
