Adair Gregory's 20th anniversary at PCPC

Of

all the jewels in our collection, Adair’s favorite is C. S. Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia series. Reading these fictions with her children helped them bond. Her favorite quote describes Aslan—The Great Lion who also illustrates Christ: “Safe?” said Mr. Beaver. “Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.” These words showed Adair the extent of Christ’s meekness—His willingness to rein in His strength to accomplish a bigger purpose.

“It’s

been one miracle after another!” is how Adair Gregory describes these past 20 years as PCPC’s librarian. In 1991, Adair joined the PCPC staff and was quickly whisked away to answer phone calls and handle other receptionist responsibilities. Soon, she found herself organizing books during her lunch hour. Little did Adair know this would develop into a treasure trove of 35,700 fictions, non-fictions, references, biographies, periodicals, and audio and video resources for kids, youth, and adults.

Adair knew a good investment when she spotted it. Having worked on Wall Street by running a line in the trading room in her early years, Adair now found herself in a new enterprise—sales. “I loved to sell people on books!” Adair says. “I liked to see kids read” (yes, older ones too!). Her passion for encouraging people to read has paid handsome returns—literally. With time, homeschoolers, Christian schools, kids with their moms, and others would learn about these rich resources and regularly return to PCPC.
