Every Thought Captive is a brief, captivating devotional that reinforces our shared worship on Sundays. This weekly written piece gives us space to reflect on what the Lord is teaching us and to apply His Word to our lives. As a church family, we want to remember the sweetness of being gathered together on Sunday and embrace the calling to live as His people as we are scattered during the week. A Bold Investment

marriages • Alyssa Kay Smith and James Matthew Bondy on January 19, 2019. • Lauren Anne Carrozza and Samuel Ray Huffines Jr. on January 26, 2019. • Molly Ann Hohfeler and Jack Calvin Vaughn III on February 2, 2019. • Mary Elizabeth Burgher and Richard William Mogk on February 9, 2019. • Carolyn Taylor Miller and Alexander Reames Turner on March 30, 2019. • Meredith Louise Smith and David Seth Donnell on April 27, 2019.

McKenzie is an amazing young woman. She is bright, beautiful, and has a bold vision for her future.

deaths

McKenzie is a resident of a community in which staff from Behind Every Door have the privilege of investing. Her mom is amazing, raising three children and volunteering her time in the community center we operate. She coaches a basketball team for some of the kids in the community who voiced a desire to start a team. McKenzie’s mom brought the basketball team idea to our staff, and we are thrilled to rally behind her. As I said, she is amazing!

• Julia A. Berry (CC#19), wife of Richard Berry (CC#19) on Friday, April 19, 2019.

sympathies • Jeff & Deb LaFayette (CC#04) on the loss of her mother; Lena & Daniel LaFayette (CC#04) on the loss of their grandmother, Shirley K. Pemberton, on April 20, 2019.

Her daughter is walking in her mother’s footsteps. Like her mom, she has a big heart, and like all of us, she has hopes and dreams. She wants to be a model and veterinarian.

Recently, McKenzie was bullied to a breaking point. We won’t discuss the details, but since I know those details, I think many of us would have felt a similar way. Hearing “you aren’t valuable, repeatedly, eventually becomes a narrative you believe about yourself.
