EVERYONE ADVENT & CHRISTMAS DAILY PRAYER GUIDE

We invite you to join us in reading Scripture and praying together now through January 4. Our readings will be from the Psalms and various passages in the Old and New Testaments that outline the unfolding work of God’s grace in redeeming a people for Himself. These passages establish our need for a Messiah and celebrate Jesus Christ as our Redeemer and King. May the story of God’s Word fill us with a vibrant hope in Jesus Christ this Advent & Christmas season. Our Daily Prayer Guide is available on the free PCPC App (search “PCPC” for Apple and Google mobile devices) and in a limited supply of books. shawn.davis@pcpc.org or 214-224-2710 Always a favorite, PCPC’s annual candlelight concert features the children’s, youth, and adult choirs with symphony orchestra on Sunday, December 15, at both 4:30 & 7:30 p.m., in the Sanctuary. can speak and live the truths of the gospel.

The mission of the PCPC Youth Ministry is the same as PCPC at large: to see students and their families extend the transforming presence of the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ in Dallas and to the world. We seek to provide a variety of pathways for students to be equipped to execute this mission in their lives.

One of the most amazing aspects of the youth small groups at PCPC (based on grade and gender) is the group of leaders. The Middle School ministry employs 15 small groups led by 20+ leaders, and the High School ministry has 10 small groups led by 25+ leaders. The end game of our small groups is that each student would have one of these leaders meet with them one-on-one outside of small groups.

The Apostle Paul tells the Thessalonian church he was eager "to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves" (1 Thessalonians 2:8). Christ came so that we might not only experience the truth of God but that it would be "enfleshed" truth. Our small groups have the mission of entrusting the truths of God with students in deep relationships where we, as leaders,

1. The large crowd (through preaching and teaching) 2. The small group (His twelve disciples) 3. The one-on-one (or one with a few).

Our youth ministry takes in kids from 20+ schools all over DFW. We desire that the student's primary identity would be rooted not so much in where they live or go to school, but rather whom they worship. Youth small groups are a place where students are able to rub shoulders with other students from all over.

The source of our ministry philosophy is this one guy…you may have heard of Him: Jesus. Side note, we are not Jesus; however, we take our cues from Him. Jesus had three main spheres where He taught His mission, the message of His Kingdom, into the lives of His followers:

When Jesus ascended, He sent the Helper, His Holy Spirit, to fuel the mission of making disciples that Jesus commanded (John 14:26), teaching these new believers how to follow Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20). Our small group ministry, like the ministry of Christ with His disciples, is at the core of what we do with middle and high school students. Our goal is to provide a refuge of discipleship and a platform for evangelism, so our students can invite their friends to hear the truths of Scripture and be transformed by the gospel.

SAVE THE DATE A sophomore at the Covenant School, Mia Jo Teaster, said this: "I am so incredibly thankful for PCPC and all that it has been to me the past two and a half years along with the amazing friendships and relationships PCPC has given me to grow in my relationship with the Lord!" An 8th grader at Highland Park Middle School, Baker Lipscomb, spoke of the effect of small groups in his life: "It's a place where I can have fun and learn and ask questions openly about God without being criticized for anything." The mission of a church must be carried out together. In a day where screens are the new frontier for relationships, the PCPC Youth Ministry is seeking to pull us all away from our diluted digital theater to dig into deep, meaningful, Christ-centered, Wordshaped, in-person relationships. The primary place for these relationships to be cultivated is in small groups. To find out more, please contact Leana Dusek at leana.dusek@ pcpc.org.
