CRATES FOR UKRAINE PCPC’s congregation seeks to serve missionaries well! We desire to be actively engaged with our missionaries, and we are thrilled when the gifts of our church body align with the needs of our missionaries!

Tommy Obenchain collecting crates from baggage claim in Krakow, Poland. The crates will then be delivered to the team on the ground in Poland and driven to Lviv, Ukraine. From there, they will be sent to locations across eastern Ukraine, often to pastors and church communities who are able to use the supplies where they are needed most.

In April, long-time MTW missionaries to Ukraine, Masha & Doug Shepherd, called retired PCPC Missionary Care Coordinator, Cindy Rhea, seeking help. The Kraków/Lviv Ukraine Crisis Team, which was formed as a result of the war in Ukraine, wanted to connect churches in the U.S. to the Evangelical Presbyterian churches in Ukraine (a denomination that MTW missionaries helped form). The crisis team needed someone stateside to be the liaison between the Crisis Team and churches in the U.S. The mission, at the request of the Ukrainian Church and national partners, is to provide personal and humanitarian aid from the hands of churches in the U.S. to the hands of churches and displaced communities in Ukraine. Cindy gladly accepted the call to support the mission, which is formally named...‘Crates for Ukraine’! The Crisis Team determined that “couriers” flying the aid from the U.S. to Poland were the best immediate option. PCPC was eager to support and have couriers fly the crates from the U.S. to Poland. PCPC members Tommy Obenchain and Billy Jones answered the call to be our first! Tommy is an international travel guru and YouTuber. The opportunity to donate his time and use his unique gifts to support the MTW church in Ukraine was a joy

for him. Tommy’s knowledge of international travel proved valuable in vetting the logistical challenges associated with getting the crates to Poland. Billy and his wife Claire are PCPC’s missionary links to the Shepherds. They have previously visited them in Lviv and are passionate about Ukraine. The opportunity for Billy to connect with the Shepherds on his trip proved valuable in further understanding how PCPC could best support “Crates for Ukraine.” We are grateful that both gentlemen and their crates made it to Poland without a hitch. More importantly, we are thankful that the crates were ultimately delivered to churches in Ukraine via the Crisis Team. Since April, PCPC has sent 5 couriers to Poland with a total of 33 crates of humanitarian aid delivered to churches in Ukraine. While we are excited about this initial effort, we do not believe our work is done. Our goal is to send an average of 1 courier a week until the end of the year. So, how do we achieve this goal? We need your help! You can 1) Pray and share, 2) Donate (supplies, funds, time, air miles), 3) Go (be a courier!) Thanks for helping support our brothers and sisters in Ukraine!
