This Week Vol. XXIV, No. 11 | May 24, 2014
Nominees for June 8 officer election
On Sunday, June 8, our congregation will meet at 10:40 am for the purpose of electing our next class of elders and deacons. These men’s names were submitted by members during the recommendation period in spring of 2013. All recommendations were interviewed and screened by the Officer Screening Committee to determine that each met the standards of the PCA Book of Church Order Chapter 9.3 as well as Acts 6:2-3 and I Timothy 3:8-13. Upon recommendation of the Officer Screening Committee and the approval by the session in August, this Class of 2018 participated in nine months of training. Sunday mornings at 11:00 were spent in Ground School—a comprehensive course open to all members, wherein they learn the major tenets of the Presbyterian Church in America as found in the Westminster Confession of Faith— taught by Elder Tim Jeffress. They also met weekly with Pastor Pete Deison for a survey of the Old and New Testaments and instruction in the Book of Church Order and the office of deacon and elder. PCPC members will have the opportunity to learn about the newest elder and deacon candidates in an upcoming e-ThisWeek issue and on bulletin boards around the church prior to June 8.
The ordination and installation of the Class of 2018 will take place during the 9:30 and 11:00 am worship services on Sunday, June 22.
