SHE ROCKS! Tangie Roseboro
I am a single mother of 5 beautiful children and 9 amazing grandchildren; I quit school in the 10th grade to raise my oldest daughter; my baby son was hospitalized for over a year at Spartanburg Regional Hospital in intensive care in 1992 due to being born prematurely. My middle son had open heart surgery in Charleston, South Carolina during the same time my baby son was hospitalized and he too was in intensive care fighting for his life as well. In 1997 I found myself in a very abusive relationship with my ex-husband, being beaten for literally any and every thing; my ex-husband eventually went to prison for armed robbery in 1998 and had to serve 10 years in prison. I lost everything I had in 1999 and found myself homeless
with my children living from house to house, even in a barn with a friend for shelter. My oldest son was charged with a murder he did not commit in 2011, and lost 4 years of his life for something he didn't do. My life has definitely been rough for me...but I never turned to alcohol or drugs for comfort, instead I found God in the midst of what I will call my hurricane with a twist of tornado. I went back to school and received my GED in 2001 from the Adult Education Program; I graduated from Limestone College in 2008 with my Associate of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies and in 2009 with my Bachelor of Social Work Degree. I will graduate March 18, 2016 from Capella University with my Master's Degree in Nonprofit Management and Leadership, and I will begin my Doctorate Degree in Public Administration in June 2016.

INDIE SPOTLIGHT WITH TRAVIS ELLISON
STARRPOWER BEAUTY & THE BEAST MIX
"NO LEGGS"
OF SIX GRAND My name is No Leggz and I started 6Grand In The Strong Struggle, I was born in Lebanon Kentucky on October 25 1990. I was raised in a small country town called enterprise Alabama. Later I came to Panama City Florida in 1994. I was always inspired by music my mother and father were big music lovers so I've always loved hip hop. I really started taking a grasp on hip hop in 1997 after my car wreck 2 days after Christmas, spending nine months in a coma and two years in the hospital and finding out that I was going to be a paraplegic to me music was all I had. During the time I was influenced by Tupac, Master P, Busta Rhymes, B.I.G, Pastor Troy and other artists from the struggle. At 13 is when I really started to pursue my rap career, as far as styles and flavor it all comes from the struggle within myself due to public incarceration and witnessing the everyday struggles in life as average people. My thoughts are more focused on what's going on in the world as far as rap artist or hip hop artist when you have a sense of music you can't categorize art. As far as project I started writing "6Grand In The Strong Struggle The Movie Part 1" in 2009 where I started doing shows in Tallahassee Florida with "Rico The Champ. In 2011 I did a show for " Little Scrappy" from the hit TV show "Love And Hip Hop Atlanta" at "Bambi's Dollhouse" a local night club in Panama City Florida.
Journalist, Travis Ellison talks music with up and coming HIP HOP artist "NO Leggs" from Sixgrand and the Strong Struggle. By 2014 I dropped "6Grand In The Strong Struggled The Movie Part 2" where I brought out two artists by the names of "Hoody G" and "Bretta J." In 2015 we shot a video "6Grand Tribute filmed by "Lyric Raines" starring "No Leggz", "Hoody G" and stuntman "Zak D" which gained over 500 views within a week. As far as today's hip hop era I have nothing against today's hip hop era. But I'm from an era where hiphop meant something and videos displayed a message within a short film. I would love to leave my fans with open minds to facts that flow. I'm currently working on multiple mixtapes, you can find me on youtube sixgrand. Legacy wise I would just like to be the one to show the world that no matter what you go through or how dark and lonely your struggles are you shall be rewarded in the END.
HIP HOP ARTIST, LAVA FLAME CLEVELAND, OHIO MUSIC REVIEW
BY TRAVIS ELLISON
Lava Flame
from Cleveland,Ohio first starting rapping at the age of 12. Some of her biggest musical influences include 2Pac, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Mary J Blige, Xscape, SWV, Biggie, Lauren Hill, Mc Lyte, Foxy Brown, Lil, Kim, Queen Latifah, Jermaine Dupri, Usher, to name a few. "I don't have any particular style. I'm just being myself. I wouldn't say that I have one particular thing that inspires my music. I just write according to how I feel. My experiences and the experiences of people I know shape my music." But behind that strong voice and lyrical flow, stands a powerful message. "My message is that regardless of what personal struggles a person may face from day to do and no matter what mistakes you make in life, there's nothing you can't do. I honestly believe that you can do anything you put your mind to. People say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but it is never too late for change. If a person truly desires to, anyone can do it." With the Hip Hop community being a male dominate industry, Lava Flame has faced her share of challenges as she's worked over the years to carve her way. When asked how it feels to be a female artist in the industry today she said, "I'm fine with being a female artist. But I don't think female artists are given as much credit and opportunities than male artists. People always want to put you in this box and compare you to other artists, but I am
just me. I don't compare myself with anyone or I am not competing with anyone. I love music and I just do me and focus on what I need to do as an artist and what I need to work on as an artist in order to be the best artist that Lava Flame can be. I don't worry about what anyone else is doing." "I feel like the industry is dumb down a lot! It's very mediocre. It's like, no one is really being themselves anymore. What happen to just being you and real hip hop? " A question many lovers of the genre have asked for years. Hip Hop has changed over time and as pop lyrics and catchy hooks become the new norm, many rap artists are straying further away from the origins of true Hip Hop. "I would sign with a major label If the numbers are right. Other than that, I will remain Indie. I am working on my first album and also my first mixed tape. I am being myself and making good music that people can relate to. I just bring the real! I'mma set a trend for bringing the real back to Hip Hop."

Collage dance Collective works to inspire the growth of ballet by showcasing a repertoire of relevant choreography and world-class dancers representative of our community. Founded in New York City and officially incorporated in 2006, Collage dance Collective received rave reviews for its 2007 national debut at the Lyric Opera House in Kansas City, Missouri. The performance was made possible, in part, by a generous grant from the Muriel McBrien Kauffman Foundation, through one of the largest awards ever given to an out-of-state dance company.

COLLAGE DANCE COLLECTIVE'S DAPHNE LEE TELLS HER STORY OF HOW SHE BEGAN A CAREER IN THE INDUSTRY AND WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE A PRETTY BROWN GIRL WHO ROCKS THE THEATER "A pretty brown girl
who rocks is a woman who is confident, determined, and not afraid to go after what she wants while being a role model. As a young lady of just 24 years old, I’ve chased after my dreams making connections along the way. I’m an artist, expressing myself as a professional ballerina here in Memphis, TN."

INSPIRED TO SOAR - My mother was a professional dancer who later began to teach once I came into the world. Instead of staying with the babysitter, I would go with my mother and watch her teach class. As I got older, I would join the classes and loved the environment. Even though I’ve been dancing since I was 3 years old, I had no interest in becoming a professional dancer. My grandmother had passed away when I was 7 years old and I thought the greatest gift in the world was to be able to heal. I wanted to become a doctor since I didn’t know about the power of the Arts. I was scared of the industry and being a first generation American, I wanted to do better than my parents. I was on the Jr. Varsity tennis team in high school, joined musical theatre, played the violin for 7 years and was even in the chess club. ." I auditioned for Juilliard just to see if I would make it far and when I made it to the end, I realized that my dancing was a gift. It wasn’t until I went to College at Fordham University in New York City, that I decided to stay with being a dance major. I had to apply to Fordham and get in academically and apply to The Ailey School and get in for dance. If I didn’t get into both institutions, then I could not receive my Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Dance. I graduated in 2013 and got into Ailey II, the junior company of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. I toured over 60 cities, 7 countries, worked with Oakland Ballet, Lustig Dance Theatre, did short films and mini commercials, and even worked with Beyonce. I am currently a member of Collage Dance Collective in Memphis, TN.
REPRESENTATION OF BLACK WOMEN IN DANCE Black women have been a part of dance history since mankind. However, in the last 100 years or so, black women in dance are becoming more well known to the average Joe. Everyone knows of Judith Jamison from Alvin Ailey and Pearl Primus and Katherine Dunham. But because women of color have been trying to succeed in Ballet, social media platforms like Brown Girls Do Ballet, and artists like Misty Copeland (first AfricanAmerican Principle dancer with American Ballet Theater), and Choreographers like Camille Brown, are slowly being recognized and are dominating their fields. From Raven Wilkinson, first black ballerina with the Ballet De Russe, to Lauren Anderson, the first black Principle ballerina with Houston Ballet, ballet companies are shifting into having diversity. This is also motivating young black girls to dance because they are seeing themselves become successful in the field across all genres from ballet, to tap, to Broadway.
WITH ALL THE WORLD AS YOUR STAGE Working with Beyonce was awesome because I got to see how normal she was. Yet, she along with her team were really professional. Her mother, Tina Knowles, was there to dress the dancers and she was a such a go-getter. Then getting hair and make-up was fun and just physically being next to Beyonce was exciting. I think what made the moment surreal was that I told myself “if I can’t get tickets to her show, then I must work with her”. Next thing you know, I was dancing beside her. I love to travel and being on tour with Ailey II was amazing. Germany, Italy, and France were just a few places we went to. I would be on stage in different countries and I would hear the audience introductions in different languages. Site seeing was fun with my co workers. We would eat near the Eiffel tower, or go Bike Riding along Italy’s streets, eating fresh Gelato and taking the train to Venice. These were opportunities that came once in a lifetime and I was so honored to have that

FLY HIGH CONTINUED
I
n my young career, the obstacles that presented themselves to me weren’t so much about race but my own personal goals. Being in Ailey at the time, I was surrounded by dancers of Color. I just now wanted to go back into the classical ballet world which is hard but I’ve managed. The biggest obstacle I’ve faced is getting directors to trust me with my movement. For example, my resume shows that I am a modern dancer so I need to make sure my ballet technique is up to par to get hired by a ballet company. My director at Lustig Dance Theatre, Graham Lustig, loved diversity and had half the company of diverse dancers from all over. Also, here in Memphis, Collage is about having diverse dancers where 95% of the dancers here are from African decent. The dance world is changing, slowly but surely. Some of the companies that are not diverse are still dealing with sponsors who want to see the classical European ballets done with Caucasian dancers. Some feel that by having diverse dancers messes up the classical look. There have been many sterotypes about black dancers pursuing ballet from our body types, to our hair, and lack of grace but today, black women and men are changing that.
A Word of Advice You have to be serious about training or anything for that matter. Many black girls think they can learn to dance off youtube or think they
My future goals are to become a well known dancer. Not only in the dance community but to non dance enthusiasts. I want to be known as the dancer who is helpful to others and loves to educate and mentor audiences. I also want to continue to improve my artistry, and get my Masters degree in either Arts Administration or Physical Therapy. I would either work in a university enhancing BFA dance programs or work with a well known dance company maintaining the dancers bodies. Lastly, I want for love to find me and eventually settle down and have a family. don’t need ballet. This is an artform that requires training and getting into a good credited dance school is best. You want to be diverse so learn ballet, tap, jazz, modern to get better. If classes aren’t affordable, see if you can intern at the studio in exchange for lessons. My mother has a dance studio in Rahway, NJ and some students are on scholarships where they help the studio by assisting classes or cleaning. Find summer programs to make connections or open dance studios in big cities as well. Follow artists who you want to be like but don’t copy them. Study their work ethic. Lastly, don’t get distracted. You may think that you are too busy and missing out on life and boys and it’s not true. Trust me it is worth it when you get older after putting in work. The people that did nothing in high school are doing nothing now in their early 20’s. Many are unmarried with children and stuck in a cycle they cannot get out of. Learn to be around individuals who inspire you to become better in any field that you may seek. As Queen Bey would put it, it’s time to “get in Formation”. I have a passion for learning, cooking, and traveling. Because my father is from Panama and my mother from London with Bajan and St. Lucian roots, traveling and learning about cultures enhances my dancing and artistry. This world is so big and even though I am out of school, I love to learn. Both my parents cook so therefore I enjoy the same and eating. Most people eat to live but I think I live to eat!
DAPHNE LEE, MEMPHIS TN Rahway, New Jersey where I was raised is the best. The people there are from all over and have a lot of pride for our small town. We celebrate the community through arts and events from the Hot Rods and Harley Davidson Day, to the culture crawl where the community gets to support the businesses in my town. Also, my teachers in Rahway have been nothing but supportive with my career and other students who have flourished in their fields. Also, my best friend and best memories have been in my hometown of Rahway, NJ. I may live in Memphis but I’m a Jersey girl by heart.
FOR THE HEALTH OF IT "I dance 8 hours a day so lots of water with a hint of lemon, coconut water, and eating organic and clean. I try to go to bed no later than 10pm to get good sleep and I also pray daily. I’m all about keeping my mind and spirit free of negativity and drama. I communicate with my parents daily and I give back to my community. These are all things that affect my well-being and there must be a balance. From there, you feel better and look better. Like the words of Tupac, “Lets change the way we eat, Lets change the way we live, Lets change the way we treat each other. On top of dancing 9-5 Monday thru Friday, I cross-train by going to the gym. I use the Elliptical and do a mini workout on my own to help build strength and stamina. Sometimes I will even do a Pilates class. I eat everything in moderation but I try to avoid too many whole grains, dairy and red meat as they tire me down. I make smoothies with kale/ spinach, almond milk and chia seeds. I cook with coconut oil, eat peanut butter for protein, and veggies are always my biggest portion. I use food and spices to ease my inflammation and keep me energized. My favorite snack is popcorn with butter and salt and I drink lots of hot herbal teas.”

am an award winning playwright. I am a passionate writer who draws from the human experience. My work is thought-provoking and cutting edge. I wrote and starred in an original piece entitled “She Is A Woman,” which theme centered around the Women’s Liberation Movement. I have authored several published works. My most passionate work thus far is the highly anticipated novel Growing Decisions. Iliana Vasquez, who is named co-writer. She encouraged to write a novel based on the scripts I had written down through the years. Initially, Iliana assisted me in writing the story in novel format, as I was not confident in my ability to write in novel format. My strength in writing is in script format and writing dialogue that is second to none, as expressed by many. Not half way through the novel, Iliana was not able to continue, because of circumstances beyond her control. The challenge to complete the “novel” alone gripped me for a time, but my love for the characters would not let me quit. I continued and ended up completing this epic tale. Talks are in the works to bring Growing Decisions to the silver screen. I am currently working on my 4th and 5th novels entitled “The Cook Family” and my autobiography “Time of Release.”

ACTRESS/DANCER GALYN LIFE IN HOLLYWOOD "Improv artist, actress and dancer Galyn sits down with PC Urban correspondent Deondra Grady to discuss her career and new projects. I've been in every facet of entertainment, My favorite genre is surprisingly comedy. I really love making people laugh. I think the journey of an artist changes. I've always loved drama."
I signed with a new agency here in Hollywood but I really love creating hilarious characters. I am doing a lot of improv now." Known primarily for her roles in epic films such as Star Wars, Name others and her brief stitch on Will Smith's Fresh Prince of Bell Aire, Galyn is considered by many a triple threat. "I do a lot. I think you never reach your goal with your art, it's ever evolving."
N GORG TALKS Galyn was born to biracial parents, "My mother black and my father is Caucasian they met in the civil rights movement they were a part of CORE, The Congress of Racial Equality. It was a very well known organization, a part of The Freedom Riders. And they taught me all the issues that are important as a human being. They taught me the importance of equality and self worth.

Gayln Gorg Talks Life In Hollywood I really just want to uplift people because I know our world is challenging right now." i saw Jada Pinkett speak recently about the Academy Awards. What i really liked and she kept saying is I mean it in love, it's about love. And I really do believe that." With all the challenges the urban community has faces of late, it was interesting to hear Gaylns view on how to find the unite we once had during the Civil Rights movement. "I spoke to my parents recently and they said they are shocked. They just knew by now things would be different. But it is an ongoing battle. We have to just learn to get along. I watch Stacy Dash and I just feel like she's missing the mark. I like a world that's all inclusive. I mean I am from a multi-cultural family. I would love award shows that are all inclusive but it's unfortunate that we have to separate ourselves. I didn't understand her perspective but if I tried to say what she meant, I'd hope that meant she wishes there was a world where we were all together. And if that's ultimately what she meant, I agree with her." To young aspiring actors and models looking to venture into the challenging b world of entertainment Galyn advises, "Perfect your craft whenever you are. You have to find local projects and venture out into these cities where these major productions are being shot. There are tons of sites that post casting calls. You have to be involved.
"I hate to see when the media takes someone and tears them apart. Like with Justin Biber, I work with young people so I'm the first to say, hold on now. Let's step back. That's a human being up there. Let's not jump on the bandwagon." Although the humble actress director would have a hard time referring to herself as a Pretty Brown Girl who Rocks, the most beautiful thing about Galyn is her peaceful spirit, "I'm really kind. I am very sweet and giving." The bubbly actress affirmed. When asked PC Urban's golden question, "What's phenomenal about your city?" She responded, "I am in Los Angelos, California. The city of Angels. The thing that's great about LA is all the cuture. I mean we have rappers, painters, actors and models, and everything. We have good Jamaican food anything you could ever want is right here." Instagram: @galyngorg | Twitter: @galyngorg Facebook & Youtube Channel: (Galyn Gorg) Website: www.galyngorg.com
"F
rom the struggle of being socially accepted. Accepted in entertainment as a woman. Accepted in fashion industry as a plus model/talent, and more, ACCEPTANCE HAD TO START WITH ME! Once I started accepting myself as a strong beautiful, powerful, influential, spiritual being those characteristics started to influence those paths I crossed and that's what make it all worth while. Being able to influence through modeling, acting, public speaking, business, etc and show someone that maybe in the same boat that they too are amazing, you start with accepting your amazing and never stop improving your amazing. Success is being true to your passion and purpose. Working towards it with an open ear, eye, and heart. I also think that being successful is somewhat an ongoing process. If you are continuously improving yourself then you are continuously reaching new heights of success. I never finished my Bachelor's degree, I chose to devote my focus into my passion of the entertainment industry. Not that I regret it at all but that cloud of unfinished business hangs low and I have recently enrolled and started to complete my Bachelor's degree. Although, it's a bit of an adjustment back I'm tackling it and passing.

spiring model, actress Montoya McCall is a 21 year old Pretty Girl Who Rocks from the Northeast Florida city, Ebro. She first found her love and passion for modeling when a local photographer asked her if she’d be interested in modeling. It was during that shoot, she first fell in love with modeling. For Montoya success is something she defines as turning your hobby into something you are blessed enough to be able to make a living. “When you’re able to take what you love to do and make a career at it, that’s the greatest measure of success. Like modeling for instance, I love it,” she explains. “It’s just something I do in my spare time when I don’t have to work, but it’s something I think I could be successful in. I would love to do it as a profession one day. If it’s God’s will, it will come to pass.”

ontoya is self-motivated, original and a natural beauty. “I think that everyone has something about them that’s beautiful. I don’t really have a beauty secret,” she laughs, “I just get plenty of sleep and keep my face clean at all times. I also try to keep myself up. I get a fresh sew-in every 2 months and I always keep my nails done. But what woman doesn’t,” she says playfully. “As women we have to take that extra time and care to love and pamper ourselves. I don’t do anything major.” She does however admit to being in love with makeup, especially lipstick. She admits, “I have just about every color!” "I am a pretty brown girl who rocks simply because I just never give up. No matter how hard it gets or what the case may be, I just won’t quit. I am strong, I always have been. I think my strength comes from being judged as a young girl. When I was in school, I was bullied. Some of the other kids would tease me and say discouraging things towards me. They told me I would never amount to anything in life. And even
though it hurt and it was meant to destroy my spirit, it only made me stronger. It pushed me to work harder towards my dreams. I’m thankful for the struggles I faced because it taught me to never give up on my goals. That’s the most beautiful about being a pretty brown girl who rocks."

PRETTY BROWN GIRLS ROCK BY: ANEEKA SMITH CELEBRATING PRETTY BROWN GIRLS WHO ROCK! Closing out another short, but great Black History Month, highlighting those who paved the way for us, years, decades and centuries ago. We recognize and celebrate individuals who helped shape our world as we know it; whether it was an engineer, a athlete, a nurse, a philoshoper; there are a number of great African American Men and Women that have contributed to the society we live in today. Fast forward to today, there are still individuals working and striving to make a difference and who will one day be recognized as History makers, decades and centuries to come. Pretty Brown Girls Who Rock, are all the aspiring ladies and women around the world defying boundaries, setting new standards and excelling in life, in whatever way they consider great. Greatness, success, happiness, etc is to be defined by the individual- but never without that idea of greatness, etc being a service to others.
"I am a "Pretty Brown Girl Who Rocks", You are a Pretty Brown Girl Who Rocks, your Mother, your Sister, your Daughter, Grandmother is also a Pretty Brown Girl Who Rocks. Stand up and be proud to wear that honor! We have the power to change this world and make a difference in the lives of others. Salute to Pretty Brown Girls Who Rock!"
FIT
I Ibelieve our lives are to be shared with others who need us. To all the Pretty Brown Girls Who Rock around the world, let us continue to live by example. These individuals soar in their league, break boundaries, set examples, and leave legacies. There are a few women among us, who have inspired and impacted my life. Allow me to share principles I've found among these strong Pretty Brown Girls Who Rock, that I believe contribute to ultimate success. Passion and Purpose has been the top two principles I have found amongst other Pretty Girls Who Rock, such as Oprah Winfrey and other successful men and women, such as President Barack Obama and Venus Williams. Most of us are unaware what our purpose is, growing, searching, exploring things that will help us answer some of the most intimate questions about our individual existence. And what I have found along my own journey, is that what matters to me deep inside to my core, is helping people and being an inspiration to others, in any way; and from that I was able to join my love for health and fitness together with my inspirational and coaching passions, which in turn helped me find my purpose. For you it may be to save lives; for your friend it may be to write, or tell stories; and for someone else you may know, it may be to educate and feed into our youth. The passion that lives in each of these purposes, has the ability to help or affect others, and not just one dimensionally either, these passions have room to grow and take flight. But the success starts with the passion and purpose, the real reason why you do what you love so much. Organization and Preparation are also two very important attributes of a successful powerhouse. As you are attempting to save the world day in and day out, practice organizing your thoughts on paper, then organize them collectively, and apply a plan. Writing your thoughts out can help you priortize and balance out your life more efficiently, which in turn will help minimize stress levels and anxiety. Successful people know that all of this hard work and effort isn't worth anything if you aren't able to share it, and enjoy it. We work hard each day, to provide and live a comfortable lifestyle; but what is it worth if you're unhealthy, immobile, depressed and distant from your friends and loved ones? Health and Fitness is not just about working out and looking good. Health is a combination of your mental state, emotional and spiritual state, and of course your physical state. Health is your most valuable asset; live longer, happier, and fuller lives, while impacting others, sharing and creating wealth through your passion. To all the Pretty Brown Girls Who Rock, The Brown Men Who Rock, to all of us; let your passion and purpose be the reason you live each day. Be the person who others love, look up to, aspire to be, and look to for truth. Rock On!

BEAUTY
LIGHT VS DARK
No Shade, But My Black is Beautiful! Our very own, pretty brown girl, Shakira Mills talks how society has shaped our view of modern beauty BY SHAKIRA MILLS What’s wrong with being brown? I love being brown. My skin always looks smooth. I don’t bruise easily. My acne marks don’t show. I don’t burn when bathing in the sun. I am melanin’s best chemical characteristic. So what is so wrong with being brown? What makes my lighter sister so much better? She is a black woman. She is just as marginalized and alienated by society as I am. What makes her more attractive? Is it because my skin represents struggle and hers privilege? Is it because because her skin favors more of the white woman than mine? Does she look exotic while I look ordinary? Is she better than me because she could pass at one point in history? Is she smarter? Does she have more to offer this world? Is she above me in status? We are all black. Whether we know it or not, this battle of skin has nothing to do with what others think of us but more so with what we think of ourselves. I see a lighter brother and I think no differently of him than I do one of milk chocolate flesh. I refuse to feed into this false hierarchy of blackness we call skin tone. You want my perspective on the battle of light and dark? I see it as an unconscious defense mechanism

unconscious defense mechanism against racism In order to deal with whites reigning as superior, we conformed and began to uplift people with skin closest to the superiors instead of claiming all skin as beautiful skin. African Americans, Asians, Indians, Jamaicans, we all judge one another based on complexion and to this day cannot explain why. We used to be able to blame European standards of beauty, but now even lighter sisters with kinky curly hair and wide hips get treated better than brown black women. Little brown girls grow up wanting to be black but not too black. Black girls stay out of the sun to avoid getting darker. We avoid brown men because we don’t want our children to come out dark. I am sure by now I am preaching to the choir. This is nothing new. After Spike Lee put out School Daze we all knew what the deal was. We just never put forth the effort to change it. We continued to allow lighter sisters to be the definition of beauty because that is what we have been accustomed to. So from now on I’m done asking questions. I’m providing answers. All levels of melanin equal royalty. Black men and women, no matter the shade are beautiful beings. We each take away the same lessons from our history whether light or dark. The words light and dark no longer pertain to skin color. We love ourselves and we love one another.
