Monaco Boat Service and Riva Family History and tradition Riva, synonymous of master class and innovation: there is much more to Riva than just a name. Riva is the tradition of a family that made the history of the nautical industry and which the new Riva generation strives to reinterpret with an eye to the past while looking to the future and beyond. Riva boats are chosen by kings and queens, princesses and sultans, actors and sportsmen, celebrities, the international jet set and business tycoons. Famous Riva owners have included Brigitte Bardot, Richard Burton, Sophia Loren, prince rainier, Aristotle Onassis. In the 1950s, the Riva name, under the leadership of Carlo Riva, became a worldwide symbol of quality, elegance and status. Today, it is Carlo’s daughter, Lia Riva, who is at the helm of the historical Monaco Boat Service. After rounding the mark of half a century, the Monaco Boat Service, with RAM and Officina Italiana Design, has also created VintageRiva. This brand, with a dual historical and contemporary soul, offers once again the mahogany boats that have entered the realm of legend, such as the Aquarama, the Ariston and the Olympic, after faithful restoration. /
Lia Riva and Monaco Boat Service takes part at the Classic week“ La Belle Classe” as one of the official partner with some of the most historic Riva vintage models. A superb vintage! Around a thousand participants on sailing yachts, motor-yachts, powerboats, the timelessly elegant Rivas and classic rowing skiffs - 115 vessels in total - left the Yacht Club de Monaco today with magical memories from the 12th Monaco Classic Week, all vowing to return in two years’ time. All were entranced by the YCM’s new building, inaugurated in June 2014 and designed by Lord Norman Foster to blend the Yacht Club de Monaco’s timeless classicism harmoniously with the clean modern lines so characteristic of this British architect. Monaco Classic Week itself is unique in that it unites everyone whatever their persuasion - sailors, speed fans, the irrepressible Rivas with their gleaming immaculate hulls rocketing joyously across the bay, defenders of heritage or owners of elegant motoryachts, and those who love being out in rough conditions. It was a week dedicated to a certain ‘Art de Vivre la Mer’, alternating nautical events with culinary, artistic and elegance contests.
88’ DOMINO SUPER: the COUPE’ EVOLUTION The 88’ Domino Super has an equally ambitious and fascinating task” - explains Ferretti Group’s Chief Commercial Officer, Stefano de Vivo. “The new coupé is much more than simply a restyling. It is the result of a painstaking design process aimed at further improving a very successful model, which can boast a sales record of approximately twenty hulls produced and sold all over the World. The outcome of this process can now be admired on the 88’ Domino Super, as well as the 88’ Florida, which we will be proud to present on the same occasion. These two new models will brighten the Summer season and will be in the spotlight - together with the third new Riva, the 76’ coupé - at the ‘Cannes Yachting Festival, where they were presented to the public”. The 88’ Domino Super is bound to set new standards in the yachting sector in terms of style, comfort and performance. Boasting an overall length of 26.70 meters (87.7’) and a beam of 6.30 meters (20.8’) it is the result of the cooperation between Officina Italiana Design - the design firm led by Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta that pencils the entire Riva range - and Ferretti Group’s engineering Department.
NEW HORIZON WITH THE NEW 88’ FLORIDA The new Riva 88’ Florida is the spiritual successor of the Riva Bahamas - the first model entirely designed by Mauro Micheli, who is responsible for the entire Riva range today. The yacht’s name also draws inspiration from the exotic name of its predecessor to represent the new horizon of this iconic brand of the boating industry worldwide. The idea of the convertible hard top is a relevant success from both a technical and a stylistic point of view”, explained Riva designer Mauro Micheli. “Thanks to the collaboration with AYT&D, the hard top has turned into an element that is invisible from the side, which can display its major function covering the outer living area without affecting the overall design of the yacht in the least. This system results from the match between the technical development of materials and movement and the stylistic research for an element which can enhance the personality of this yacht”. The new Riva Range has been displayed during the Monaco Yacht show, the most prestigious yacht show in the world, the new Riva models as well as the most iconic one are displayed at the magnificent Monaco Boat Service Riva pontoons which faces the Monaco Boat service office and showroom where customer and Riva lovers can benefit of a made to measure service both on sales, chartering and restoration, looked after by Lia Riva and the Monaco Boat service team. The most hidden gem of the Monaco Principality: The Riva Tunnel – the most fascinating hangar. As hidden gem and historical venue, The Riva Tunnel is now days another iconic part of the Riva Family portfolio.
the French Riviera, the emblematic place of this Dolce Vita, was the birthplace in 1959 of the Monaco Boat Service: its famous tunnel, which took over two year to dig out of the rock under the famous Grimaldi Palace, could accommodate about 100 Riva boats. The RIva tunnel has been hosting unique and exclusive event such as the I defend Gala 2015 in support of the Robert Kennedy Human right Foundation and the recent event during Monaco Yacht show to celebrate the Women of Monaco.
Lia Riva biography Raised in the small town of Sarnico, Italy, Lia Riva has been exposed to life along the water from her early age, involving her with the Riva industry since the beginning of her childhood. Growing up in Italy, she finally moved to Monaco during the late 80’s. With the new lifestyle surrounding her, she was brought closer to her father, Carlo Riva, and Riva’s heritage. Being a mother of three, Lia Riva is also a compassionate philanthropist and entrepreneur. She successfully allies charities to the Riva name, such as the R .Kennedy Human Right Foundation. Sharing a fondness for contemporary art, it led her to become a great ambassador of the Principality of Monaco for Cultural and Art projects. In the event of her endless exposure to shipyards and the boat industry, Lia Riva is now at the helm of Riva Monaco Boat Service. Following her father’s legacy, Lia Riva’s contribution to the Riva legacy can only be seen as prosperous.
