When Monaco was invaded by an Italian fleet For fans of the legendary Italian boatbuilder Riva – and let’s face it, who isn’t one? – there are few better opportunities to witness so many of the marque’s boats on the water than during the Riva Trophy, an annual event that sees a score of the boats tour the French Riviera. The 2014 event, which took place between 5 and 6 September, attracted 22 Rivas, which ran the gamut from a 1968 Ariston to a modern 28 metre Duchessa. Arguably the rarest Riva at the event was an Aquariva by Gucci, a special collaboration between the two famous brands that was launched in 2011 to mark Gucci’s 90th birthday. + FOR MORE NEWS SEE PAGE 39
