The Tempest In My Eden Poetry by Noreen McCabe
Introduction : The Tempest In My Eden We all make our way through life doing what we know how to in each moment and striving for happiness. The Tempest In My Eden is a very short collection of works from a period in my own life when love was the theme – blinding, heartbreaking, breathtaking. My poetry is my inner mind exposed. I write mainly for myself, but if in reading you find something of yourself also, then I hope I will have touched you, provoked you, or brought to mind memories long faded. May you enjoy these poems with as much passion as I did writing them.

Simple Words
Suicide I wander with you Hand in hand As we reach the peak Of moonlit sand We edge towards The place we stand Peer back across A barren land Then turn again And face the sea Smell the salt And feel the breeze Your grip is tight Upon my own And from this life My heart is thrown We'll always be Forever together You and me
But in this moment Drift the sands of time And you release Your hand from mine A tender kiss A warm embrace And one last look At your gorgeous Face I close my eyes And take a step Then plummet with My final breath I know not if you followed me It matters not I cannot see My body taken by the tide Oh, my romantic Suicide.
Duality Pendulum swinging Fast and free Temper my Duality Daughter - Mother Wife - Lover Youthful - Aged Free - Caged Insightful - Blind Cruel - Kind Euphoric Filled with melancholy Yes This is my Duality.
Serpent Serpent Slithery Sliding Slippery Forked tongue flickers Sharp fangs bite.
Moves hypnotically Entrancing me Dreamily His presence Messing With my head.
Comes to visit me Stealthily Wickedly Hardly visible In the night.
Slides right over me Embracing me Hungrily Feel his energy Bind me tight.
Serpent Silently Icily Knowingly Finds his way Into my bed.
Serpent Tasting me Taking me Making me Lose my very Will to fight.
Breathing Heavily Rapidly Savagely Steals my soul And heart Ignites. Venom Killing me Slowly Deliberately Flows right through me My delight.
Breathless Not the morning's first light Nor a star-filled night Can leave me breathless Like the sight Of you.
A Whisper How many ways Can you whisper Those words In silent thoughts A twitch of your lip In the way you carry Your weight on your hip ? Not a thing to be heard But a pure sensation A heartbeat A breath Is your soft lullaby.
Awash With A Gentle Love Intertwined Like snaking vines And naked, without cover On that cloud-filled night My heart took flight In the arms of my gentle lover He kissed my lips And pressed my hips With the weight of his masculine form And so we lay In the pouring rain Making love until the dawn. In the lilac heather And inclement weather In the romance of that stormy night He stole from me Stole from memory
As fast as lightning strikes For as we embraced Lying face to face He whispered his soft warning “My darling, tis true I love only you But this is your last morning And before I awoke With one swift stroke His blade tore my flesh apart He cracked open my chest And from that bloody mess He tore away my heart I know not why T'was my time to die But I sit in heaven above And my last recall As the rain did fall I was awash with a gentle love.
The Archer And The Deer The archer reached his arm behind And pulled the last arrow from it's quiver Methodically, he placed it against the string And lifted his mighty bow With the eyes of a hawk, he took aim at his prey The placid deer whose trust he had won Who stood, frozen in that moment Unsure whether to run Or stand in place And face It's fate The bowman drew back the arrow to his anchor point Inhaled slowly, deeply Released his fingers' grip And in those seconds
With the fluttering fletch Pierced skin, and wounded heart The deer remained motionless And simply stared back Trying to understand Why one who had earlier loved her so Could now be so cruel and cold And the deer simply thought; I will take your arrow And the suffering it brings I will feel it tear my flesh But what I will not do Before nature's time Is fall before your feet And allow you to take my life.
Only Love And Him I lie I cry here in my bed. Wish I could get this out of my head. I say no more tears no more doubt feel numb stay silent but want to shout. Thinking and planning and fighting the fight Awake and shaken
all through the night I love you and hate you and all that you do I hate all these feelings you're putting me through. I know you don't care and I know you don't see but this is much bigger than just you and me But I've begged and I've pleaded enough is enough I just need reminding
I need to stand tough remain honest be loving endure and stay true that way you'll get what's coming to you. And once this is over and we've said what we've said I'm going to curl up here in my bed here in my sanctuary with lights soft and dim with no more tears, only love and him.
He Ran To The Mountains, She Ran To The Sea Two lovers Too different And try as they might They cannot make the sky Hold both day and night Because it's one Or the other Passing through dusk and dawn As surely as death comes And new life is born So he ran to the mountains And she to the sea They are as far apart As they can be Now when she cries
The ocean grows And all he hears Are his own echoes The howling winds Deceive their ears Deafening both So neither hears But perhaps one day When storms have passed They'll make their way Through fields of grass Down from the mountain Up from the sea To meet in a meadow Quietly.
Simple Words I am no artist. I am simply me. I can paint no picture, Nor sing to you A sweet lullaby. All I have to give Are my words. Mirrors of my thoughts. Expressions of my heart. Declarations of my love.
