This column will be dedicated to keeping Charolais members in touch with the people of the business. It will contain births, weddings, convocations and momentous anniversaries and events of note, but not high school graduations. It’s a Boy!
In collaboration between Bell M Shorthorns (Raylene McDonald) and JMB Charolais (Marshall McDonald), we would like to announce a new bloodline available … Branson Leslie Arnold McDonald. This hybrid vigor bull was born via C-section February 3, 2022… but don’t let that scare you with this low birth weight of 5 lb 3oz, 18 1/2” long. Growing at a rapid pace, we project phenomenal WW and yearling EPDs on this one of a kind. We look forward to showing him off at upcoming shows throughout the summer and fall! Madison Johnston, daughter of Scott and Shelley Johnston, of Johnston Charolais, Rathwell, Manitoba, has completed her Animal Science Technology: Beef Major studies with Honours, at Lakeland College, Vermilion, Alberta. Madison will be continuing her animal science studies at the University of Saskatchewan, to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. Respectfully, Madison would like to thank the Canadian Charolais Association, Manitoba Charolais Association and Manitoba Beef Producers’ for supporting her education.
Rosso Awarded Scholarship
On May 21st, Haley Rosso was awarded the Essay Scholarship Award at the Cody Sibbald Legacy Classic. This show was held on the Sibbald Family Ranch, in Beechy, Saskatchewan. The Cody Sibbald Legacy Classic was created to honour him, his memory and to make a difference in youths’ lives who have a passion for the agriculture industry. This award money will go towards Haley’s final semester in her Elementary Education Degree. Haley is a CCYA Alumni and daughter of Kevin Rosso, Rosso Charolais, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Wirsta Convocates
Kailey Wirsta convocated from Lakeland College – Agribusiness Diploma with Distinction, as well as being recognized in the “President’s Circle” for taking a leadership role in campus programs, clubs and academics. Her future plans include pursuing a career in marketing/ graphic design within the Agriculture industry. Kailey is the daughter of Kevin and Janice Wirsta, K-Cow Ranch, Elk Point, Alberta, and is a CCYA Alumni.
Harcourt Convocates
Jennifer Harcourt convocated with Distinction, from the University of Regina with Bachelor’s degrees in Education and Kinesiology. Jennifer is the daughter of Doug and Tammy Harcourt, of Harcourt Charolais, Quill Lake, Saskatchewan. Jennifer will be teaching at Carlton Comprehensive High School this fall in Prince Albert.
