From the desk at T Bar… Welcome to the 15th Annual “Best Of The Breeds” Bull Sale on Sunday, March 24th, at Heartland Livestock, Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Started by Merv and Barb Schmidt, Belmont Charolais, in the early years it was the “best kept secret” but over the past several years the secret is out! Top quality bulls from these six breeders have been selected by breeders and ranchers in the prairie provinces, also to Ontario, Quebec, B.C., Nova Scotia and the United States. Several of these bulls have gone on to be “top shelf” sires. “Best of the Breeds” has become a “one-stop” shopping event where producers can select bulls to complete breeding intentions. The continental influence with performance comes through the Simmental (red, black and Fleck), the Gelbvieh and Charolais, while the Angus division, both red and black offer performance with a degree of calving ease and high maternal values which become replacements to the national beef herd. The criteria to have bulls in the sale is based on quality, where no bulls are selected from the individual herds, therefore the best of the best sells here…that is why, in some years, breeders have less bulls. It’s the assurance of quality! The bulls will be available for viewing the night before at Heartland and for those looking for a preview, visit the respective farms or ranches where you can see the bulls in their natural environment and their mothers. Welcome to the 15th edition of the Best of the Breeds Bull Sale. We’ve been in the Charolais breed for over 20 years. Now more than ever, focus of the breed continues to be on low birth weights, hair and structural correctness, while maintaining the performance you’ve come to expect from Charolais. Producers need to take advantage of the premium paid for Char-cross calves. We are very excited about the pen of bulls we are bringing to town this year. These bulls have more shape, more hair, more volume, along with great dispositions. This year’s pen allows you to pick from performance bulls with manageable birth weights, to calving ease low birth weight bulls that can be used on heifers. The genetics we’re featuring represent some of the top sires in the breed.

817F is the deepest bodied, heaviest haired bull in our pen. He stands out from every angle. Herd bull is written all over him. No surprise, the 8X Alcatraz cow has done this before. A Divergent son was a top seller to Southview Farms, Ontario and she has always had her sons at the top of the pen. She is a fault free, moderate female with a perfect udder. Sire: JWX Downtown 7C 805F is a bull we think is a TANK. He is truly “one hell of a bull”. Genetically powerful and extremely correct, 805F is the whole package. His sire, JWX Downtown, is fast becoming a leading sire in our breed for performance, hair and great structure. KCM Ikea 515R has been a foundation cow here since we first purchased her in 2006. Her sons excel and her daughters and granddaughters are front pasture females. A grandson, HBC G2 430B, topped our sale in 2015 at $20,500 to Kevin Kidd, Ontario. He is proving to be a great producer.

After such a crazy year it is comforting to know that there is something you can count on; getting a top quality Charolais bull from our program that will produce calves that are born easily and will grow into the type of feeders that buyers will fight over. Our main focus is producing live calves that are born easily, perform well and have an abundance of hair and red meat. Our goal is improving your bottom line! This year we have bulls from some new AI sires that we are very pleased with. JWX Downtown and WC Milestone produce calves with a lot of performance and a little extra frame, resulting in a little higher birth weight, but posed no calving issues. Cedardale Zeal and MVY All Star are proven calving ease sires that can work in either the heifer pen or cow herd. We are excited to have a new calving ease sire, WC Big Ben, that will work great in a heifer pen. We have a great mix of bulls that will fit every program. We have some calving ease bulls, as well as some performance bulls that will put some punch in your cow herd. As an added bonus we keep back some younger bulls in reserve for our customers. Double down. When you compare him and his brother, Focus 64F (Lot 104) there isn’t much difference. Focal started off a bit smaller, but kept pace with his brother the whole year. The same thickness, volume and hair coat is evident in this twin. Focal will make a terrific cross on a British based cow herd. He will add a bit of frame to the calves which will translate into extra pay weight at the market. You know there is some jam in this pedigree when you add up the total pounds his momma weaned this fall.

Terms and Conditions

The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance, unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s decision will be final. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

Bidding:

Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. In the case of a dispute, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in the dispute. If no further bidding is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s decision on all disputes will be final.

Liabilities:

All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. It is understood that T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations. Neither does T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties and any legal action that may in exceptional cases be taken must be between the buyer and the seller. T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfillment of all guarantees and representations made here under.

Rights & Obligations:

All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close attention to such disclosures.

The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.

Announcements:

Should any bull fourteen (14) months of age or over fail to prove a breeder after being used on females known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six (6) months following the date of purchase or six (6) months after the bull has reached fourteen (14) months of age. The seller will have the right and privilege of six (6) months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.

Exception Guarantee:

In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.

Certificate of Registration:

Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais, Angus, Simmental, and Gelbvieh Associations. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone, wire or mail their bids and instructions to the sale managers, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

Delivery:

We will assist in making transportation arrangements outside MB and SK. All costs are the responsibility of the buyer. You may be asked to take your bull early if the truck is in your area. Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.

Insurance:

Will be available sale day. We strongly recommend that insurance is purchased for full value.

Errors:

All announcements at sale time, written or oral, supersede any written material in the catalogue.

Health:

All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.
