FROM THE DESK OF T BAR...
Welcome to the “Best of the Breeds Bull sale” on March 26, 2023, at Heartland Livestock Services, Yorkton, Saskatchewan. This being the 19th annual event, from its premiere sale in the Leross Auction Mart, Best of the Breeds has grown and matured into one of the leading, if not the best, all breeds bull sale each spring. It has been the source of many breeder bulls in all divisions and 2023 will be no different as the headliners were shelved for this sale.
The Simmental offering by Forden Fairview is deep and exciting with homo polled Fleckvieh and Red and Black domestics… their strongest offering to date.
Blair from Goodview presents a powerful lineup of Red and Black Gelbvieh. The Gelbvieh section is the strongest offered in the nation with several breeder bulls lurking.
The folks from Twin Heritage represent the Red Angus part of the sale. They come to town with sleep easy calving sire’s ideal for heifer pastures. They raise performance bulls who all have a high degree of maternal value.
The Black Angus comes from Black Ridge Angus Farm. This is a multi-generation seedstock operation known for its high standard of quality and great customer service.
Charolais were the base that started this sale. Harcourts and Zentners are the Charolais suppliers. Their offering is large and powerful. Included is a divisional champion from Agribition and some two-year-olds for bigger cows and bigger pastures. We all know the value of a Charolais bull walking in your pasture.
This is a sale one should not miss – onestop shopping for your next sires. The quality is high, and the breeders rank among the best…. a great way to spend a Sunday!
If we may be of assistance prior to, or sale day, feel free to contact any of the T Bar Team or myself, we will help you in a professional manner. Chris
HARCOURT CHAROLAIS
Welcome to the 19th annual Best of the Breeds bull sale! As we write this, it’s the middle of calving season, the time where we see the results of hours of discussions, research and decision making. Like many of us who have been doing this a long time, we appreciate the value of using bulls with shorter gestation, that produce calves that are strong, full of vigor, and grow like crazy. That is one of the greatest benefits our customers have for selecting a Charolais bull. The other is in the fall when they wean those big tan calves that bring a premium at the auction market. You not only see it on the price of the steers, but there’s a premium on the heifer calves too. We are excited to introduce new bloodlines
this year that we know will deliver on what you’ve come to expect from Harcourt bulls; calving ease, performance, hair, and great dispositions. If you have any questions on the bulls, give us a call or stop by the farm for a visit. Check out the videos on our website www.harcourtcharolais.com or visit our Facebook page for regular updates. See you sale day!

203K Stealth is the result of years of putting the right cow families together that have both the EPD’s and the phenotype to produce a great one. 920G is in the top 2% for weaning and top 3% for yearling weight. She has a perfect udder and is the biggest ribbed cow on the place. She hit a homerun when she dropped Stealth last January. We knew within a few weeks he was going to be special. He is one of the biggest ribbed, most complete bull calves you will find. The comment from Agribition Judge Jill Mader was that this bull should be used heavily in the future going forward. We couldn’t agree more. Stealth has a ton of hair, a great skull, explosive shape and complete structure. When you study his genetic profile it doesn’t get much better. It includes cows that are at the top of the breed in performance, along with the same genetics as the most dominant Charolais female in a long time in Berkley. If you want a bull that has it all, check him out. He can take your program wherever you need it to go. Winning in the ring and in the pen at home where your buyers will love what they see, bulls and heifers. Selling full possession, 2/3 interest.
HOMO POLLED
209K patterns very similar to his ¾ brother Stealth. Like all White Bear offspring he is bold ribbed, smooth fronted and fault free. He has excellent feet and great temperament. His mother is in the top 1% for weaning EPD and top 2% for yearling weight. She produced the mother of Stealth so you know predictability of throwing a great one is already built in to this young herdsire. Calving ease, performance and fault free are just a few words we would use to describe this young stud!
4 GENERATIONS POLLED
201K is an outcross bull that checks a lot of boxes. The Whiplash bull that sired this stud is a calving ease sire used heavily on heifers at both Steppler Farms and Pro Char. The unique thing about him is that his sons also have incredible performance. 201K is a shining example of this. He is complete from his great skull, superior structure and muscle pattern. His mother is the epitome of what a first calver should do. Calve on her own, milk heavy, rebreed early and wean a big calf. She was the high selling bred heifer out of the Steppler Farms Female Sale in 2021. She has lived up to every expectation and will be a stand out for years to come. HOMO
This young herdsire has all the tools in his kit. Along with a great skull and super structure, he is the deepest bull in the pen. 205K started with a moderate 84 lb birth weight and has grown like crazy on his highly productive Ledger momma cow. She was our pick of the Hunter Charolais bred heifers the year we bought her out of the front end of the Sterling Sale. He is a standout in the pen and is sure to command some attention Sale Day. Everyone wants to add pounds to their calf crop without sacrificing calving ease, this guy will do the trick. Selling full possession, 2/3 interest. HOMO POLLED
HEIFER APPROVED
206K is built right in every aspect, just like his sire. Exceptionally correct with big nuts, lots of hair, and super disposition. Turn him in the heifer pen or with cows. He will calve easy and leave you with a set of attractive calves the buyers will love. HOMO POLLED
222K is one of our favourites in the pen. It’s too bad because of COVID, not many people got to see his sire HBC Summit. Probably the deepest ribbed, most correct bull we’ve raised. An absolute beast of a herd bull that sold to Sonderup Charolais in Nebraska for $32,000. His progeny follow him very closely and are consistent in their type. Something a great herdsire will do. 222K we believe could be even better. He puts it all together – big testicles, great character head, perfect feet and legs, and a haircoat that is the envy of any breed. He just gets better every day. 331E is a Braxton daughter that will run with any you want to compare her to. She is long spined, smooth front to back. She has excellent feet and legs with an udder that is flawless. The number of great individuals in her pedigree is impressive and not be taken lightly. The Braxton daughters are proving to be superior producers and it isn’t easy finding a great bull out of a cow that possesses elite genetics. We really believe in this bull. He is worth the drive to see him! Selling full possession, 2/3 interest
HOMO POLLEDHEIFER APPROVED
This year’s bull sale sees the introduction of some new and exciting bloodlines. LT Patriot is a bull that we were very pumped to add to our list of A.I. sires. He is known as one of the top sires in all of North America. His calves are born easy with vigor and then grow like crazy. Outstanding is a word we would use. The Patriot bull is exclusive in the breed to only a few discerning breeders in Canada. You will only see a few sons offered for sale anywhere and these 4 are some of the best you will find. 212K is our lead off Patriot son because of his overall balance, perfect structure, and high libido. His dam is in our donor program and is the mother of the $32,000 HBC Summit bull that sired some impressive bulls in this sale. The homework is all done on 212K. We believe his predictable genetics will make him a great herd bull! Elite cattle on top and bottom of his pedigree make 212K one of those bulls that is a no miss. Hit a home run – add 212K to your bull battery! Selling full possession, 2/3 interest.
HOMO POLLED
We really like this long bodied super smooth Patriot son. In case you didn’t know, LT Patriot is the sire of LT Nationwide – a bull whose sons were very popular in last year’s sale. If you liked the Nationwide bulls, you will adore the Patriots. They have nice big feet and outstanding fertility. 211K fits the description perfectly. He is long as a train and carries that extra top and muscle definition that all buyers are searching for. His dam 281Z just keeps producing good ones. She is a big volume highly fertile cow that is easy to have around. Mark him down sale day!
4 GENERATIONS POLLED
221K follows the same pattern as the other Patriot bulls with some added hair. He is very correct, has big nuts and is ready to go to work. 221K is long spined, big topped and correct with good feet and legs. 9A has been a money maker from the time she arrived from the Wood River female sale where she was a high seller. She has a perfect udder with a lot of depth. Just a nice cow to have around. These Patriots are like peas in a pod. 3 GENERATIONS POLLED
This big performance Patriot son is impressive. He has the size and composition to do a great job on mature cows. His great haircoat, excellent structure and high libido make him a great candidate to turn in with a bunch of cows knowing he will get the job done. His mother 6133 is a heavy milking cow that is producing at the top of our herd. Her two year old Wizard daughter has an Affinity son in the sale. Now that’s production! 3 GENERATIONS POLLED
LT Affinity is widely regarded as the best calving bull in the industry. His calves are finer boned and rocket fronted. Build for calving ease. These 2 sons are ¾ brothers and you can see the consistency Affinity has in his offspring. If you are a first time buyer of a Charolais bull and you are concerned about birth weight on your cows, grab hold of one or both of these Affinity sons. Let them show you what the Char breed has to offer. Easy calving, lots of vigor, more pounds in the fall and that means more money for you. Get the Charolais Advantage! See you sale day!
HEIFER APPROVED
We used LT Affinity exclusively on the heifer pen knowing he would be the easiest calving Charolais bull around. He did not disappoint. We think there is enough performance in the calves to make them marketable. If you want sleep easy calving with lots of vigor, check out 214K.
4 GENERATIONS POLLED
This guy is definitely the sleeper in the pen. His mother is our most complete SVY Wizard daughter. Big volume, beautiful udder and great feet. This guy will throw calves that outperform himself. A true test of a herd bull.

DOGPATCH ACRES
Welcome to the 19th edition of the Best of the Breeds bull sale. Thank you to our repeat buyers and new customers that support our program. We focus our breeding on the main areas that cattlemen look at when purchasing a new bull; calving ease, growth and performance, hair, soundness and docility. We provide stout, moderate framed bulls that can get out and service your cows. We are pleased with this year’s offering as it exemplifies our breeding program.
We spent a lot on walking bulls in the past few years and are really excited about our offering with a mix of bulls by our herd sires, as well as some industry leading A.I. sires. We will have carefree bulls to run in your heifer pen or performance bulls to put with your cow herd.
Each year we keep back some bulls born too late to make our sale. They are on standby for our customers in case of a bull wreck during summer. The long yearlings we have on offer are these bulls we kept back. Developed on green feed oats until December 2022, then bull developer pellets and hay to provide bulls that will cover more ground and more cows without breaking down.
The Char cross advantage was obvious again this year in the feeder calf market. Take a hold of one of these great breeding bulls and pocket a bit more cash with your calf crop.
If you have questions or would like to come see the bulls and their mothers, please call or stop in.

The results speak for themselves, I have no issues during calving and in the fall the calves have all kinds of hair and a big hip and top which is exactly what buyers are looking for. TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Terms:
The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance, unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.
Bidding:
Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. In the case of a dispute, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in the dispute. If no further bidding is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision on all disputes will be final.
Announcements:
All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close attention to such disclosures.
Breeder’s Guarantee:
Should any bull fourteen (14) months of age or over fail to prove a breeder after being used on females known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six (6) months following the date of purchase or six (6) months after the bull has reached fourteen (14) months of age. The seller will have the right and privilege of six (6) months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.
Exception Guarantee:
In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.
Certificate of Registration:
Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais, Angus, Simmental, and Gelbvieh Associations.
A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.
Pedigree Estimates
Pedigree Estimates (PE) are created on the projected mating of the animal’s sire and dam based on averages of the two, creating estimated values that do not hold the same accuracy of actual EPDs issued from the association and should be used as such.
Health:
All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.
Liabilities:
All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. It is understood that T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations. Neither does T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties and any legal action that may in exceptional cases be taken must be between the buyer and the seller. T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfillment of all guarantees and representations made here under.
Rights & Obligations:
The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.
Phone, Mail, Wire Bids:
Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone, wire or mail their bids and instructions to the sale managers, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.
Delivery:
We will assist in making transportation arrangements outside MB and SK. All costs are the responsibility of the buyer. You may be asked to take your bull early if the truck is in your area. Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.
Insurance:
Will be available sale day. We strongly recommend that insurance is purchased for full value.
Errors:
All announcements at sale time, written or oral, supersede any written material in the catalogue.
