A YEAR IN REVIEW...
Le : In late December, our members toured New Rosedale Feed Mill and were given an extremely informa ve presenta on on nutri on by Jordan Dickson.
Right: In January, Daisy McKee a ended to assist members with prepara ons for our communica ons event. This was well received by parents and members.

A YEAR IN REVIEW...
In March, Sveinna Bjarnarson received the honourable Fenwick Trophy for Champion Senior Speech at Zone Communica ons (le ). Quinn Sawchuk was the winner in the Intermediate category (right). Both moved on to Area Communica ons, along with Madisyn Robertson, Summer Sawchuck, Ryder Muir and Owen Marchant (bo om). Sveinna was the Senior winner at Area’s and moved on to Provincials. Our club works very hard at oral communica on skills through judging workshops and other ac vi es.
A YEAR IN REVIEW...
Also in March, Brayden from the Neepawa Conserva on Office presented a PowerPoint on land owner rights, mi ga ng risk from predators and other important informa on. He brough numerous pelts for our members to inspect. This was an extremely informa ve presenta on and many ques ons were answered.
April - we hosted our “Crash Day” which is a prac ce event for our achievement. All of our members brought their halter broke steers. We had a grooming and clipping demonstra on from Paul & Madisyn Robertson. Tim Baker put on his judging hat and prepared a judging workshop, which was followed by our members comple ng their judging cards and presen ng oral reasons. Carson Baker assisted our Cloverbuds with showmanship skills. We were joined by members trying out for the provincial 4-H Judging Team and Club Support Coordinator, Karen Olafson. Karen prepared an array of sta c items for senior members to judge including forage and teacups.

ABOUT ME: This is my 11th and very last year in 4-H. I have shown everything from beginning beef to a cow/calf pair. I enjoy everything to do with ca le and will con nue in the ca le business. This fall, I will be a ending Lakeland College in Vermilion, Alberta, to take an agribusiness degree. I enjoy a wide range of sports, which include football, hockey, curling, badminton, baseball and track & field. I have 2 steers this year. My progeny steer name is Leonardo, and my market steer name is Linus. I’d like to thank all the buyers of my steers in the past and I hope they con nue to support our 4-H club members.

ABOUT ME: Hello, my name is Keegan Dyke. This is my fi h year in Beef 4-H and I am a senior in our Club. I like fishing, hun ng and sports in my free me. My steer this year is named Shaggy, and he is a Red Angus and Simmental cross. I chose him because I had never tried a crossbreed before and wanted to see how his results differed from a purebred Red Angus. Ini ally I liked the finish he had on him and his depth of rib. I’m sure you’ll enjoy him as much on the table as I did in our barn. This year in 4-H I enjoyed mee ng new people.

ABOUT ME: My name is Morgan Dyke, I’m from Neepawa, Manitoba and I live on a Red Angus ca le farm. This is my fi h year in 4-H at the Neepawa Club. This year, my steer’s name is Frank. I’ve only ever worked with Red Angus ca le, but as I get older, it gets more fun for me. I have grown a lot from when I first started in Beef 4-H and I hope to con nue to do so. I chose Frank because as a calf he was wide bodied for his age and I was hoping he would fill out. This year I enjoyed the ac vi es we did as a club.

ABOUT ME: My name is Averi Jury. I am 13 years old, and this is my 5th year in 4-H. With me is my best friend chubs. In my spare me, I love to spend me with my calves and play lacrosse, hockey and so ball. When I have me I love to be on the farm helping out. This year, I will be dona ng 10% of my 4-H proceeds to Diabetes Canada because of my family members who struggle with this disease.

ABOUT ME: Hi, I’m Ryder and I’ve been in equine and beef 4H for 5 years. I really like training and showing horses and ca le!My favourite riding events are jumping and barrel racing. Showing ca le is so awesome, but calving season is also exci ng. It’s cool to see the new calves arrive each year and watch what they become. This year 4H taught me to keep expense records and gave me the opportunity to do a speech at provincials. A highlight for me was crash day when our club brought our 4H calves to town and learned to judge ca le. My handsome steer is a home-grown Black Angus. His name is Crush! He got his name because when I first started halter breaking him he wanted to crush me! Now he’s very sweet and thick and gives the best hugs!

ABOUT ME: Hi, I’m Madisyn Robertson, outgoing president of the Neepawa and Area 4-H Beef Club. I am president of the Manitoba Junior Charolais Associa on and a director on the Canadian Charolais Youth Associa on board. I am showing a purebred Charolais yearling heifer, Lilac; purebred Charolais pair Kristen & Makoy; and Charolais cross steer, Leroy. Outside of 4-H, I spend most of my me preparing for & showing at MB Youth Beef Round Up, CCYA, jackpots & summer shows near home, Manitoba AGEX in Brandon & Canadian Western Agribi on in Regina. I play AAA So ball with Westman Magic U19 and baseball with Team Manitoba U21 women’s team. In the winter, I enjoy compe ve & recrea onal curling. When I am not showing or playing sports, I am working on our family farm. This fall, I will be a ending the University of Saskatchewan, where I will major in animal sciences. This will be my last show with our 4-H club and I have enjoyed these past 9 years learning and growing with all of my fellow members. I look forward to returning to help out in a non-member capacity.

Everyone told me I shouldn’t take a curly haired calf but I wanted to give it a try. When I’m not working with ca le I enjoy playing hockey and playing with my ki ens. I am going into grade 6 at JM Young School In Eden.
