We have had a busy spring at the CCA office, as we return to a somewhat normal life and in-person events happen. At the time I am writing this report, we are well under way planning our annual meeting and tours, June 10-12 in Russell, MB. Please join us for a great weekend of touring some great Manitoba cattle, along with some fun time with fellow Charolais enthusiasts. This AGM will also feature the first annual “Friends of Canadian Charolais Foundation” fundraising sale. The past several years, we have been working on forming the Friends of Canadian Charolais Foundation and finally, a few months ago, we were notified that we were successful. The idea of the Foundation has been around the CCA board table for many years and a few years ago the timing was right, so the process was started. The purpose of the Foundation is as follows: • To promote education, research and development concerning specific agricultural topics that will benefit the entire beef industry. • To provide scholarships, bursaries, and prizes to advance education in the field of beef production. • To provide funding for the advancement and benefit of youth agricultural activities. • To provide and promote education and research in the field of beef production. • To raise funds to carry on the purpose of the Corporation. • To acquire, accept or receive by purchase, lease, contract, membership fee, donation, legacy, gift, grant, bequest, or otherwise, any kind of

real or personal properties; and to enter into and carry out agreements, contracts, and undertakings incidental thereto. • To acquire by purchase, lease, devise, gift or otherwise, and to hold, any real or personal property necessary or desirable for the Corporation’s purpose and for the purpose of drawing revenue therefrom, and to sell, lease, mortgage, invest, dispose of, or convey the same or any part thereof, as may be advisable. • To do all such other things as are necessary or incidental or conducive to the purpose of the Corporation.
The Foundation sale will feature some unique genetic lots, as well as other lots yet to be confirmed. If you would like to be part of this inaugural event, please contact one of the following members of the sale committee:

This spring also seen some change to our office team. Haylea Jones, who had been with us for two and a half years, accepted a position with the Calgary Stampede. The board and I would like to thank Haylea for her time with the CCA and wish her all the best. The new voice you will hear when you call the office is Cassidy Matthews. Cassidy has been involved in the purebred beef business her entire life, and also comes with a wealth of knowledge in organizing and running junior shows.
I have attended a few bull sales this spring and enjoy the interaction with both the commercial and purebred producers. The sales have remained strong, and we continue to see the effects of the “Charolais Advantage”.
