Some wars go on for years, some for decades, but one war has gone on since man was created and that’s the battle for our souls and our minds. 2nd Corinthians from the Bible tells us; But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the purity of devotion to Jesus Christ. Just what is our mind? God communicates to us through our minds. God influences us through our minds. Our minds control our thought process. Our minds bring out our true existence. It all started in the Garden of Eden where Satan was after Adam and Eve’s mind. Our enemy is not clothed in the flesh. Folks Ephesians 6:12 tells us; For our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the powers, against world forces of the darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. So who are these powers we are struggling with? Our mind is both the battleground and the prize of this spiritual war. Being saved by Christ does not mean that the battle is over. 2nd Corinthians 11:3 tells us; But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the truth and your devotion to Christ. Folks God talks and communicates to us through our minds. God transforms us by changing our minds. He renews the spirit of our minds. God also influences us through our minds. Romans 12:2 tell us; Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is good and acceptable to God. Folks we have to keep our minds on the spirit of God, for our mind if on the flesh is sure death. Our flesh does not have what it takes to have the right thought process. We do not fight our flesh because our enemy is not flesh but is spiritual. Folks our enemy is not seen by our human eyesight. He is invisible but he is there. Not only is he there, but all of his demons that work for him is there too. They hate human beings and they are just waiting to battle us in our weaknesses. Remember folks, our minds control our bodies. Thank You.

The Honoring Of Some Local Heroes
Saturday, April 7th, we will have a ceremony honoring all Veterans and some local Veterans. Some had a part in the forming of DeSoto County and leadership in the early county. DeSoto County was formed May 19, 1887, a few years after the war between the states. The Veterans Memorial here has bricks honoring soldiers from both sides. Doris E. Beard age 89 passed away on Tuesday March 13, 2018 at DeSoto Health and Rehab in Arcadia, Florida. Doris was born on August 28, 1928 in Tifton, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Judy Brown and the wife of the late William Beard. Doris was a member of Nocatee Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, yard work, cooking for her family and being a wonderful mother and grandmother. She is survived by her son William King Beard of Arcadia, FL and a daughter Karen (Billy) Beard Wilson also of Arcadia, Florida. She is survived by six grandchildren; Lalena Beard of Portland, Oregon; Lauren (Robbie) Robinson of Sebring, Florida; Sophia Beard of Arcadia, FL; Paul Beard of Tallahassee, Florida ; Luke Beard of Arcadia, Florida and Emily Beard also of Arcadia, Florida three greatgrandchildren Kathryn and William Robinson both of Sebring, Florida and Willow Moon of Portland Oregon. She is preceded in death by 4 siblings, William H. Brown; Roy Donald Brown; Cleo Westberry and Destie Williams and a grandson, Dylan Kai Beard. “THE DREAM”

We go to Tennessee about three times a year and usually always spend the night somewhere in Georgia. It’s beautiful up there and we have always enjoyed the trip. On our way up this time, I decided to give my Aunt a call to see how they were doing. I have no idea why, I don’t usually call her. But when she answered the phone I knew something was wrong. You know how you can tell from a person’s voice that they are having some trouble. She told me that there was no problem, that she just had been feeling bad for a few days and was getting better now. She tried to convince me that she was ok, but I could tell she was not. My wife and our friends were listening to our conversation and after I hung up the phone, they all decided that we should go over there. After all it was only about 40 miles to her house, we had plenty of time. The cabin wouldn’t be ready until tomorrow anyway. All of us jumped in the car and off we went. After about 30 minutes, it looked like the woods were different. The trees were lower and darker. My wife even commented on how the scenery had changed and now we were in some scary looking woods. It looked ok to me, so I just shrugged it off. Soon even I could tell that something wasn’t right. That something was changing. It was beginning to look kind of scary. We looked on our fancy GPS and sure enough we were on the right road to my Aunt’s house. Finally we arrived. The place did look a lot different, but it should, I mean it had probably been 20 years since I had been there. As we pulled up, my Aunt came out the front door to meet us with a smile that just plain looked fake. She had no happiness, no joy about seeing her oldest nephew and I was beginning to think that even I wasn’t wanted there. While we were standing there hugging and stuff something made a loud noise in the woods, like a limb falling. My Aunt just about jumped on the car. She seemed so frightened. Then she says to us to hurry up and get in the house. Why? I asked, then she said for us to just go and get in the house. OK we said and we all went in the house. We looked at each other like, what could be the problem. The noise sounded like some big limb fell. At least that’s what it sounded like to us. She asked us to sit down on the couch and we did. Then she asked if we wanted anything to drink and we all said no thanks. Then she sits down in one of the chairs and starts crying. I mean crying real bad. I went over to her and ask if I could help but she just continued to cry. After what seemed to be a long time, she looked up at me and asked if I had seen Thomas. At first I didn’t know who she was talking about. I said, Who? Thomas she said. Have you seen him? I still didn’t realize who she was talking about. Then she says Thomas your cousin. You know my son Tommy. Oh I said. Why would I have seen him? I have been gone for over 20 years. She looked straight at me with a funny look and said, he is going to be killed if he doesn’t get out of here. That he thought you were on your property in Tennessee and that you might help him. Help him get away from what? I asked…
