Why Did God Name Man Adam?
The Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed life into him and he became a living being. The Hebrew word for man is Adam. Adam was formed from adamah (the ground). His existence was tied to the soil from which he came. God then planted a garden in Eden in the east. The Greek word paradeisos means paradise. Adam was to maintain the garden but was lonely by himself so God created all animals and birds and brought them into the garden for company to Adam. He was to name each one. Even though the animals provided company Adam was still lonely. So, Yahweh or God created Eve for him. The Bible tells us the rest of the story of how they sinned against God by breaking his law of eating from the tree of good and evil. God’s judgment came quickly. Both were cast out of the garden never to return. The story of mankind’s struggle in the world now began. Adam and Eve by their own sins were banished from a world that was wholly good. Adam and Eve had 2 sons, Cain and Abel. Over an offering to God one was favored more than the other. Cain was a tiller of the ground while Abel was a shepherd. Cain’s offering was rejected while Abel’s was accepted. This angered Can. He was furious and killed his brother Abel. God banished Cain from the land so he went to the land of Nod east of Eden. He was a fugitive. This fugitive murderer was not to be the ancestor of the rest of mankind. The killing of Abel was the first shedding of human blood in history. Cain established a city and had many descendants but always carried the curse of God. God gave him a mark on his person so no one could take his life. To carry on God’s plan to establish the lineage to Jesus Christ he had Adam and Eve to have a 3rd son named Seth. Adam was 130 years old when Seth was born and lived 800 more years before his death. Seth lived 912 years and then he died. World history continues to struggle along one the track of rebellion. Every person folks who follows Adam and Eve face the same choice: to obey or not to obey God’s word. All make the same choice as their original parents have made. God’s warning to Cain applies to everyone. If you do not do what is right sin is at your door. It desires to have you but we must master the evil. Folks as soon as we are born we have this sin nature. We will have it all of our lives until we make a vow to repent to God and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Folks being a good person, having many good works during one’s life is not good enough. Don’t let Satan tell you this. Jesus Christ is the only one who can break this sin chain. Thank You.

Salvador Barajas was born on June 3, 1930 in Quitupan Jalisco, Mexico to his parents Salvador and Guadalupe (Capistran) Barajas. He passed away on November 11, 2017 in Arcadia, Florida at the age of 87. Salvador loved to play cards and most importantly spend time with his loving family. Salvador is survived by his sons Hector, Samuel, Ernesto, and Salvador Barajas Jr.; daughters Martha Galindo, Celia Barajas, Blanca Rendon, and Maura Martinez; 31 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; brothers Amado, Juan, Vicente, Jose, Alfredo, Dionicio Barajas; sisters Guadalupe, Merced, Isidora, Maria Elena, and Elvira Barajas; and many extended family and friends who will miss him dearly. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 5-8 pm. Rosary will begin at 6:30 pm at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, 11:00 am at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Arcadia, FL. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Margaret Jones; children Brenda (Kevin) Coulter and Robert Lee (Holly) Jones III; 8 grandchildren Caleb, Audrey, Alyssa, Julia, Paige, Caden, Peyton, and Dillan; brothers Ronald (Beveryly) Jones Sr. and Raymond (Diana) Jones; and many extended family and friends who will miss him dearly. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents. Bob was a man of humor and loved to work on cars, work in the garden and farm. “What's That Sound?”
Chapter 6 by Bumpy Thermos As we finally untangled the little girl so she could at least sit upright on the cross bar, her mother called out a very strange sound. The first time she said it we thought she was just yelling at her daughter. But, as she continued to scream the same words we began to partially understand. She was yelling to her daughter to listen to the sound. She would say, Ester listen to the sound. Calm down Ester and listen to the sound. The daughter was not buying it. She just kept on screaming. By this time we had gotten her down on the ground and were trying to calm her. Nothing was working. No one could calm her down. The brother was trying to get her attention and all of us were just trying to cover our ears. I remember her mother walking right up to her, opening the bottle in her hands and sticking it up so the girl could smell what was in it. At first the girl just smelled the bottle, then as she smelled more and more of it, she began to calm down. Now we were beginning to understand the mom. She was telling the girl to listen, just listen. So, we all got quiet and tried to listen. I wasn’t hearing anything. I looked over at the other guys and we just looked at each other. We could not hear anything. The mother continued to say, listen. After a few minutes the daughter looked like she was hearing something. She looked up and smiled at her mom. They both began to look like they were hearing something, but still we couldn’t. Maybe we were listening to the wrong thing. We could not figure it out. Now the boy was joining in. They all looked as if they were hearing something. They were all three leaning over the windmill and listening like they were hearing something from the well. But what were they hearing? We couldn’t hear anything. I did notice that the wind had picked up and that old windmill was just humming. That old thing was really going now, just spinning. A couple of us got closer and tried to listen, still nothing. Then we got right up close and tried to see if we could figure out what they were listening to. Nothing. The little girl was calm now. So a bunch of the people were starting to go back home. I guess they figured the excitement was over and there was nothing more to see there. But, we knew different. We knew something wasn’t right. What were these people hearing? Finally, the little family talked to themselves for a minute. The boy got up and picked up the little girl. The mother stood up and off they went. The little crippled girl in her brother’s arms and the baby and strange bottle in the mother’s arms. Off they went, as if nothing had happened. But that wasn’t good enough for the rest of us. We had to know what in the world they heard. What kind of sound did they hear coming from that windmill? We all gathered around that old windmill one more time to see if we could hear what they were hearing. There was probably about five of us. All of us had an ear right next to the windmill. Suddenly, we started to hear a very faint noise, ever so light. We couldn’t make it out, but we could hear something. What’s that sound???
