Why Was In God We Trust Pur On American Currency And Coins And When?
In the early days of our country when the Civil War was going on Treasury Secretary Salmon P. Chase instructed the director of the United States mint at Philadelphia to prepare a motto for our nations coins. His instructions stated no nation can be strong except with the strength of God or safe except in his defense. The trust of our people in God should be declared on our national coins. After a few options were considered, Chase settled on “in God We trust”. So congress passed the necessary legislation and the motto first appeared on the 1864 two cent coin. In God We trust has been in continuous use on the penny since1909 and on the dime coins since 1916. Since 1938 all United States coins bare this inscription. When the motto was left off of a new double eagle gold coin in 1907 the public’s outcry led congress to order it restored. In 1956 congress and President Eisenhower agreed to declare In God We Trust the national motto of the united States of America. The motto this same year began to appear on out paper currency also. Folks this is what holds our country together, God. Im sure you have noticed and wondered why our country is slowly breaking apart. We as people have shoved him aside like all the other Gentile nations are doing. According to the Bible I guess our time is coming to a close just like other great nations. The Bible tells us to prepare ourselves for what is to come. World events are moving rapidly toward the end of this age. Many people are deeply concerned about the direction America is moving to. Many can see that our nation is on the wrong course and is rapidly losing its moral character and strength. Folks this is not God’s world anymore. There is to much sin and evil here. World conditions are bringing us closer to the 2nd coming of jesus Christ. Our way of life has stripped the value and meaning from the simple state of being thankful. We have been the people of the choicest blessings from God. We have been preserved these many years with peace and prosperity but we have forgotten God. There si a great ned to repent and again seek God’s guidance the way it used to be when our nation was born. Folks you are either for him or against him. You can’t be luke warm. Most people know him but want to live the way they want in sin. Prayer is urgently needed in our government and our country. Thank You

Deborah “Debbie”Lee Blount Chivers,
age 61, of Arcadia, FL, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 in Sarasota, FL. Debbie was born in Tampa, May 21, 1954, moving to Arcadia as a small child. Debbie was employed as a secretary for the Desoto County School board. She graduated from DeSoto High School, Class of 1972. Debbie enjoyed spending quality time with her family and her grandchildren. She loved her dogs, going to the Goodwill Store, and fishing whenever she had the opportunity. She was very crafty and had a creative personality. She was of the Church of God faith. Survivors are her beloved husband, Darryle Chivers, Arcadia, FL, two daughters; Jennifer (Andy) Irion, Ranchester, Wyoming, Christy (Jose) Sanchez, Kissimmee, FL, two brothers; James (Linda) Johnson, Kissimmee, FL, Kenneth “Kenny” Wesley Johnson, Arcadia, Fl, three sisters, ,Jean (Michael) Roberts, Theresa (Ruben) Esparza, and Nancy Hopson all of Arcadia, FL, her mother , Irma Johnson , fifteen grandchildren; Robert Jordan (Ashley) Collins, Caitlin Nicole (Timmy) Henderson, Leah Suzanne Henderson, Casen Faith Hart, Aubree Giselle Irion, Myranda Emme Irion, Hannah Naomi Sanchez, Joselyn Leeann Sanchez, Gabby Sanchez, James Hurst, Brittany Bureshaw, Breanna Seebee, Nevaeh Seebee, Ryanna Trout, Tyler Trout, and one great grandchild, Rowan Allan Smith. Debbie is preceded in death by her father Everette Johnson. Visitation will be conducted from 11:00AM until 1:00PM, Monday, January 25, 2016 at the Arcadia Church of God. Born in Montreal, Quebec, she was a resident of DeSoto County the past 33 years, coming from Montreal. She was a cosmetologist, and was a member of The Church of God of Prophecy in Arcadia. She was best known as a loving wife and mother. Survivors include: her husband Shawn of Arcadia; 2 sons: Danny Dainton and wife Mary of Bradenton, Fl., and Mike Dainton of Pennsylvania; 1 daughter: Denise Cooper and husband Wade of Arcadia; 1 brother: John Belanger of Montreal, Quebec; 10 grandchildren: Jade and Ryan Cooper, Macy, Morgan, Michael, Matthew, Mark, Jasmine, Danyelle, and Charlene Dainton; and 6 Great- grandchildren A Memorial Service was held Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at the Church of God of Prophecy, 1423 North Oak Street in Arcadia with Pastor Danny Hurlburt officiating. That Tuesday morning at about 10 minutes to 6, I was sitting outside the Winn Dixie in Sebring. There was only 1 car in the parking lot besides mine, but soon the lights came on and people started coming in. I just sat there for a few minutes and looked around. I was 18 years old and a little scared. All kinds of crazy thoughts were in my head. After a few minutes, I gathered my courage and walked to the front door. It was locked. I could see people moving around inside so I knocked on the glass. A tall thin man came over and let me in. “You must be our new man” he says, “Yes Sir” I said. “Come on in, I am Loyd Baucum” he says as he locks the door behind me. Boy was I nervous. I mean real nervous. But he soon introduced me to the other people and they were very nice to me and then they began to show me around. An older man was appointed to show me the store. He looked like an old man to me. Later I found out he was only 40 and word was he still slept with his parents. I don’t know that for a fact, but why do I even remember that??? Anyway, he was very helpful and soon I was taken to the back door where this big semi-truck was backed up to the door. It was a grocery truck and it was slam full of boxes of groceries. Along with about 6 other guys, we proceeded to take these boxes off the truck, put them on a set of rollers and rolled them into the store and stacked them same boxes back on racks with wheels on them. Yes and by the way, this happened twice a week, just like clockwork. Just about every case had to be cut open with a case cutter before it was set on the rollers. That was a job. Over the years I saw many case cutter accidents. Some small to one that went all the way up a guys leg from just above his knee to almost to his privates. That was scary, there was blood everywhere. Two weeks later he was back cutting boxes in the truck and putting them back on the rollers. Tough guy huh?? Oh yea and we had stampers back then with a case to hold them on your side, like you do your cell phone now days. You would look on your check in sheet and see what the price was, then you would take your stamper and roll the numbers until they were the right amount and stamp away. If the numbers got too light, you would just put more ink in it. It would take a lot of time to mark every can in that box but that was what they wanted and that is what we did. Later we got guns. Yes, it looked like a gun. You would fill it with labels and then you could mark everything faster. You just had to make sure your gun didn’t run out of labels or get hung up because that would take a long time to fix. Now days no one marks the items. You get to see the price when you put it in your cart and after that, only if you’re quick enough as it gets scanned. It seemed like a lot of work back then and I guess it really was. After all the groceries were off the truck, we shut the truck door and the store door and took lunch. That turned out to be the easy part of my day…

Bob was in trouble. He forgot his wedding anniversary. His wife was really angry. She told him "Tomorrow morning, I expect to find a gift in the driveway that goes from 0 to 200 in 6 seconds AND IT BETTER BE THERE!" The next morning he got up early and left for work. When his wife woke up, she looked out the window and sure enough there was a box gift-wrapped in the middle of the driveway. Confused, the wife put on her robe and ran out to the driveway, brought the box back in the house. She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale. Bob has been missing since Friday.
