What’s America’s Future Going To Be?
America it is time to wake up. Our nation is sliding into chaos right before our eyes. We are moving in the wrong direction at an increasing speed. Gross immorality, corruption, economic stagnancy, perverted lifestyles, violence between races; what is ahead for us? God tells us in his word in Revelation 3:14-17 many in the last generation of his church (that is us folks) will be spiritually asleep while the world heads for oblivion. Folks God commands his servants to wake up a sleeping nation. He tells us through the prophet Isaiah, Isaiah 58:1; Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet. Tell my people their transgression which is sins. Folks this is why myself, and many others are warning people what is to come. I consider myself one of God’s servants trying to do what is asked. There is a fellow who preaches downtown in Arcadia. I respect this man for he too is doing God’s will. Good job preacher. He is also warning people right from the sidewalks of Arcadia. Folks, there is hope for us. God has not abandoned us. There is a pathway to hope for the mess this world is in. He tells us not to follow the crowd for most in this world are following the ways of Satan. 1 Corinthians 6:12 tells us not to be a slave to sin. Folks the more you trust in God and become obedient to his rules, the more you find out how evil this world really is. Our life span on this earth is very short, so don’t be chained to Satan’s sin and evil. All of us are going to be held accountable for everything we have done on this earth whether good or bad. Remember folks, when you die you will face another life completely different than the human one. Evil really exists in our world, it has a face, it is dangerous, it is deadly. We have to protect ourselves from it. We have an enemy and he is powerful. His name is Satan. He is a spiritual being and he concentrates on evil. He seeks to rule this world from the realm of the unseen. His battle is between good and evil and we are his prize. He will try anything to keep us from the truth that Jesus is our Savior. His target is our spirit. Our warfare is in the spirit realm for he is working for our soul. Not only is our soul in trouble but he is after our mind and our will. Folks we are at war spiritually with him and his demons. Just look at world conditions. This is not of God. Remember this, he works on our weaknesses. Everyone has a weakness and you better know he knows it and what it is. One good thing is his time is short and he knows it. Jesus is going to put him where he belongs. Thank you.

Mr. John Dewayne Hesters (59) passed away at Desoto Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, February 28th, 2018. He was born in Chula Vista on June 23rd, 1958 to Marvin and Betty Hester. John is survived by his daughters: Betty (John) Elligson of Kentucky, Destiny (Eric) Newton of Georgia, Melissa Hesters of Arcadia; son: Brian ( Adryann) Hesters of Arcadia; sisters: Linda Hill of North Carolina, Joann Cail of Arcadia; brothers: Joe Hesters of Pensacola, Frankie Hesters of Arcadia; 23 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Marvin Franklin and Betty Jane Hesters. John was in the Navy as a Sonar Technician and was a Petty Officer 3rd Class after leaving the Navy his love of boats continued and he worked as a ship builder. His favorite thing to do is spend time with his family and friends but especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lillian Mae Hudson (93) passed away from Alzheimer’s on Friday morning, February 23, 2018 at the Palms of Punta Gorda. She was born in Tampa, Fl. On June 7, 1924, the daughter of Henry D. and Rita (Freeman) Ryals. She is preceded by her loving husband, Eugene D. Hudson and her two brothers, Hilton Ryals and Lloyd Ryals and a grandson, William K.S. Hudson. She is survived by her two sons Larry E. (Sylvia) Hudson and Terry D. (Joan) Hudson; by her sisters-in-law, Mary Ryals (widow of Hilton) and Ann Ryals ( widow of Llyod); three grandchildren; Paige Hudson, Rita Hudson (Joel) Beverly, and Aaron E. (Karrie) Hudson. She also leaves great grandchildren: Anna and Lindsey Savchuk, Olivia and Cecilia Beverly, and Mackenzie and Roan Hudson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She and her husband, Eugene, moved to Ft. Ogden in the late 1940’s to assist her parents in developing the H.D. Ryal’s Citric and Cattle Company. Lillian was a life-long resident of Ft. Ogden, who for forty-two years left the Florida heat for her Smoky Mountains log cabin retreat in Whittier, North Carolina from spring to fall. She and “Gene” enjoyed many happy times at their mountain retreat with family members and friends. Lillian was a creative housewife and hostess, who excelled in all endeavors. Not only was she a fabulous chef, she enjoyed gardening, quilting, crochet, scrape booking, basketry, textile screening, and literally anything she put her mind to. She shared her talents through the Desoto home demonstration club, community, and various school activities. Lillian and “Gene “were always active in every aspect of the church. While at the first Baptist church in Arcadia, she founded the first nursery and children’s department. Later in 1960, when she moved her membership, she also was instrumental in developing the nursey and children’s department at the First Baptist church in Ft. Ogden. She was an active participant in the Baptist Women’s programs and GA Director, as well as serving on the building committee for the current Fort Ogden Baptist building. Her husband “Gene” served as a Deacon, Music Director, Sunday School Teacher and various other ministries of the church for many years. The Family deeply respects and accepts your condolences. A private burial service will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Arcadia, FL. There will be a Memorial service at the First Baptist Church of Ft. Ogden, 9500 SW Hull Ave., Arcadia (Ft. Suzanne “Grandma Suzy” Leckband (69) passed on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Suzanne was born in 1949 in Stockbridge, MI, to the late George and Eileen Rob. She was the 2nd oldest of 4 children. After high school she attended Alma College, where she received a BA Degree in English Literature. She was also a member of Kappa Iota Sorority. She realized her passion for sewing early on. Opening her own business in Ida Grove, IA called Suzy’s Fabric Plus and after 6 years closed the doors. She then moved to Sarasota, FL where she worked for 8 years as a tailor for Nello Department store. Starting in 2001- present worked for Cravats’ assisting the owner in daily operations of business. She also ran at this time her own business as a seamstress of Sew What in Arcadia, FL where she has resided for over 24 years. Her love of books can be seen throughout her home, she enjoyed spending her time working in her yard at the farm. She was a friend to all that knew her and even in death she was able to help one last person when she donated her corneas. Suzy is survived by her son: Matthew and (Felisha) Leckband; brother: George (Carol) Rob, sisters; Mary (David) Durnbaugh, Rebecca Hornbrook, granddaughters: Danielle Leckband, Shayne Leckband, Cassidy Whiteley, and Kaitlin Whiteley; and great grandson: Cayce Whiteley. Suzy is preceded in death by both parents George and Eileen Rob. She will be greatly missed by many other relatives and friends. He graduated from Charlotte Senior High School; he worked on the fishing boats and was an auto mechanic until he was drafted in to the United States Army. He liked the Rodeo shootout he was one of the bad guys, riding horses, motorcycles, hunting, camping, fishing and loves spending time with his family. James T. Spires (JT), 31 from Adair, Ky. went home to be with the Lord Thursday, February 22, 2018. JT graduated from DeSoto County High School in Arcadia, FL. class of 2005. JT enjoyed to fish and hunt and loved spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his Son, James Tyler Spires, Mother, Becky Spires, Grandmother, Barbara Baseore, brother and niece Travis and Rosie Bass. Along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends that have become family. JT is preceded in death by his father James T. Spires and grandfather Tom Baseore. Sharon Elizabeth Welker, age 64 of Arcadia joined the angels in Heaven after a long battle with cancer. She was born on December 15, 1954 in Hollywood, FL to late Walter Ashton and Bernice W. Henderson Bennett. Sharon married the love of her life, Gary Lee Welker, Sr. on November 11, 1972. They moved to Arcadia in 1976 with their four children. Sharon loved her community. She worked with parents and sisters Kathy and Robin at Walter and Bernice’s Munchie Wagon and Munchie Palace. She was a dedicated employee of Sweet Bay Grocery. Sharron loved coaching her T-Ball team, the “Reds”. Her favorite job that she had was making cakes. She lovingly prepared thousands of cakes for many members of this wonderful community. Sharon volunteered at all the schools that her children and grandchildren attended. She enjoyed listening to the “Backstreet Boys”, Joy FM and country music. She also loved her gardens, watching her Hummingbirds. She was a loyal fan of the Southern Shockers and enjoyed watching those girls’ grow up and play together. She is survived by her husband Gary Lee Welker, Sr. of Arcadia, FL. ; four children Gary Welker, Jr., Tanya Johnson, Davey Welker and Chris (Lynna) Welker all of Arcadia; two sisters Kathy (Butch)Brown and Robin Lacertosa; six grandchildren; Caleb Johnson (Izzy Melton), Dekoda Johnson, Kyler Johnson, Houston (Krysten) Welker, Andrea Welker and Kaylee Welker and numerous nieces and nephews. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, in laws Carolyn and Linville Welker and brother in law Greg Welker. “But…my greatest accomplishment is my family, I love you all very much!” by Sharon Welker. “THE DREAM”

The dream about the singing bears was kind of funny, especially when my wife was playing the bass guitar for them. I told you that sometimes the knock of the front door would wake me up after thinking that the doorbell was just a dream. Well, I guess that’s not always true. Remember, after the bears all walk single file out the front door waving at me, my wife goes walking out with them holding a bass guitar. So, when there is a knock at the front door, I assume my wife had forgotten something. Sure enough, when I opened the door there stood my wife. She still had the bass guitar in her hand. She looks at me and starts pulling on my arm, wake up honey she said. Now why would she say that? But she just keeps on saying, wake up honey. Then I open my eyes again and she is standing over me, pulling on my arm. It was a few days before I had the chance to take another nap. This time I was ready. My wife had gone to get her nails done and I was all alone. So I locked the front door and the back door, closed the curtains and turned off the TV and my cell phone. This for sure would not let me have a dream about outside the house. And so I sit down in my chair, closed my eyes and just sit there. Nothing. After about 10 minutes, I figured that the nap idea wasn’t going to work today so I got up and opened the curtains. When I opened the curtains to the porch area where the pool is, I notice that the water on one end was moving more than normal. The last time that happened there was a small snake in the pool that couldn’t get out. As I opened the door I heard a kind of crying noise, not loud but faint, like maybe a child or small animal. I walked toward the sound and when I got around the pole I could see what it was. At first I was startled. I couldn’t figure out just what was going on in our pool. But when I did figure it out I started calling for my wife but she didn’t answer. I called for her again and then I remembered she wasn’t home. I thought to myself, I have got to get to a phone and call 911. I started calling for help, but no one was coming. I ran back in the house, but I couldn’t find my phone. What should I do? I run back outside and see my phone is on the pool chair on the other side of the pool. I start running toward the phone when all of a sudden I slip and fall into the pool. I am panicking now. I have got to get out. I try to crawl up the side but it’s no use. I tried again and again, but I just could not get out of the pool. Finally I figure that I will just have to face them. I turn around and say to the old man that is holding the other old man under the water. Hey why don’t you let him up? He turns to me and says “I’m not holding him under, I am trying to get him out.
