Proverbs 32:8-9 from the Bible warns us not to be like the horse or the mule. The horse has to be pulled back with a bridle or it will run off on its own. Now the mule tends not to move without a great tug from its master. Both animals obey only because they’re bridled and are forced to comply. Christian believers often show this same behavior. There are those who jump into christianity ahead of God and have to be reined in like headstrong horses. Then there are those christian believers who hear God call but refuse to listen and drag behind like the stubborn mule. Their obedience does not come willingly from the heart. God wants you to obey him because you want to not because you have to. Doing what’s right needs to come from a desire to please him. Do you want to truly walk in the will of God? Listen when he calls you and obey with a willing heart. Satan will do his best to persuade you not too. Watch out his temptation is very strong. Most people wil give in to him and continue in sin. But if you pray to Jesus for strength against him the Holy Spirit will be sent to you. He is no match for the holy spirit and he will eventually leave you. Prayer is the key folks. Pray everyday folks because we are having a spiritual war going on between good and evil. A walk that strives to please God will lead him to knowing more, being with him more and being like him more. Folks seek God this new year from your heart. Leave the bridle to the horse and the mule but remember not to rush ahead but walk with him side by side. Folks read God’s word the Bible and meditate on it. Put what you read into practice and live by it, you will feel his power work within you. Folks do not be deceived by this world. As you read his word you will begin to know the truth. Remember Satan controls the world. Folks have courage as you take hold of his hand. Fortify your mind with the truths of God’s word so that your roots will remain strong. The path to God folks is narrow. It is less traveled and most people will never find it. Take your eyes off of what the world has to offer and seek righteousness. Thank you!

He was a maintenance worker and will be remembered as being a great daddy and good-hearted person. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sylvia Gayle Patton Blondell. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Timmy Naylor. Survivors include his daughter, Kayla Naylor of Offerman; his son, James Stephens of Offerman; his father, Ed Blondell of Arcadia, FL; his sister & brother-in-law, Angela & Mike Knowles of Arcadia; a brother, Howard E. Horton of Bryson City, NC; a sister-in-law, Brenda Boatright of Offerman; hus auntm Charlene Cruce of Palm Bay, Fl; a special friend, Sarah Stephens of Offerman; and several nices, nephews & other relatives. Graveside services for Mr. Naylor will be held at 11:00 oâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;clock Tuesday morning, December 8, 2015 at the Offerman Cemetery. He retired from G. Pierce Wood Memorial Hospital as an accountant, with over 30 years of dedicated service. Larry was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Wauchula, FL. Survivors are his two sons, Jeremy (Brandy) Peterson, Wauchula, FL, Cameron (Stacey) Peterson, Wauchula, FL, a daughter, Elainna (David) Allen, Wauchula, FL, brother, Billy (Judy) Peterson, and a sister, Joan Gause, Arcadia, FL. Larry also leaves his ex wife, Marilyn Peterson, the mother of his children, and seven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Mitchell and Bessie Peterson. Visitation will be conducted at 11:00AM until 12:30Pm, Monday, January 11, 2016 from the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 No. Hillsborough Avenue, Arcadia, FL. It was the last day of philosophy class, and time for the final exam. The professor had exposed the students to several schools of philosophy during the semester. He looked out over them as they sat and waited expectantly. Finally, he pointed at his desk and said, “I have only a single question on this final test. Use anything I’ve taught you this year to prove to me this desk does not exist.” Immediately the students started writing furiously, filling ages and pages of exam books with proofs for the non-existence of the desk. One girl, however, wrote for a few seconds, gathered her books, walked to the front of the class, turned in her exam book, and was out of the classroom in two minutes. When the professor posted the grades the following Monday, only one person had received an A. It was the girl who finished the exam so quickly. Her answer: “What desk?”

My dad was easy to talk to. It was just hard for me to tell him that I had been looking for another job, especially after he had done so much to help me get the one at the transformer plant. I knew he had to pull a few strings. I wasn’t stupid. No one would even give me a second look. I walked like a man with a stiff neck. Actually a very skinny looking boy with a stiff neck. Anyway, I began to tell dad the story of how Gary had gotten us a job with Winn Dixie and how they wanted me to start Tuesday morning. My dad’s only concern was how would I give the company a two week notice. He suggested I go in Monday morning and talk to Charlie Hilton. I assumed that Mr. Hilton was the one who had agreed to hire me and he was the one I needed to talk to. So, first thing Monday morning, I walked in a few minutes early and went to the time clock to punch in. Guess what was on the big board? Yep, I got the promotion. I was to start coil winding the next Monday. Oh my goodness, now what. They just gave me a promotion with a raise and I’m going to give my notice. Now how was I going to talk to Mr. Hilton? I’m sure he had something to do with the promotion… Well, I asked my supervisor if I could talk to Mr. Hilton & he said he would have to set up an appointment for me & he would see what he could do. It wasn’t until after lunch that I finally got that appointment. Boy was I scared. I was only 18 years old. Mr. Hilton had hired me when no one else would. How could I explain myself? What kind of a man was I? How could I do such a thing? You guessed it, I was really giving myself the once over…. I was having a real hard time with this. And what about Winn Dixie? Would I even like the job? What if they didn’t like me? Remember, I had to work in Sebring. Was I going to drive every day? Would I move over there? Heck, I had never lived anywhere but with my mom and dad. That was also getting to me. Was I making a stupid mistake? Would they hire me back if the Winn Dixie thing didn’t work out? Well, my appointment time was here and I had to go in. I was shaking like a leaf. I didn’t know how to start but I began with how much I appreciated what he had done for me and then began to tell him my story. When I was done, he just looked at me and smiled. I will never forget his words to me that day. He said, “Son you pack up your stuff and you take that job & don’t you ever look back. This is a dead end and there is no future here.” He told me not to worry about the notice, that he would take care of that. And he added, “If for some reason you want or need to come back, there is a job waiting for you here.” I could not believe my ears. I was so happy, so excited that this was going to work out for me. I left that day and did as Mr. Charlie Hilton told me. I never looked back… Thank you Charlie Hilton. You were a great man and someone who changed my whole life... Thank you…
