LITTLE BLUE WONDER By Mikkel Hyldebrandt

With the introduction of PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis), the way we think and do sex has changed dramatically – and it has vastly impacted the health of gay men positively. Damon L. Jacobs, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, started a global Facebook group called “PrEP Facts: Rethinking HIV Prevention and Sex” after he began using PrEP in 2011, and Peach spoke to him about how the blue pill is reshaping sex and lifting fears and stigmas surrounding gay sex.

Warmed Up -andReady to Run By Chris Azzopardi Photos: Amazon Studios

Rest assured, I’m not spoiling anything when I say Jillian Bell runs a lot in Brittany Runs a Marathon. All that sweat and all those tears aren’t exactly taken from the 35-year-old actress’ life – in case you hadn’t noticed, this is about Brittany and her running – but it could very well metaphorically dovetail with Bell’s career and the infinite miles she’s clocked to get to her own finish of sorts: a starring role. For her first lead part in a film, Bell portrays out writer-director Paul Downs Colaizzo’s real-life best friend in his heartfelt debut feature, which won the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival in February. When we first meet Brittany, her life is in shambles. Landlord issues, job issues, friend issues, and according to her doctor, a less-than-ideal BMI issue. So she runs. Short jaunts at first, then longer, steadier stretches. But as she trains for a marathon, Brittany learns that self-acceptance and personal growth aren’t just the result of going the literal distance. Starring concurrently in bisexual director Lynn Shelton’s Sword of Trust, which premiered recently at SXSW, Bell’s credits also include a smattering of comedic TV series like Comedy Central’s Workaholics and Idiotsitter. Film-wise, she starred alongside Scarlett Johansson and Kate McKinnon in the bachelorette-party-gonewrong farce Rough Night and 22 Jump Street, her mainstream breakthrough, playing the scenestealing, deadpanning rival to Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill’s doofus cop duo. Bell phoned recently to chat about wine runs with a dear gay friend, shooting a scene with Bob

the Drag Queen and her commitment to telling LGBTQ stories. In real life, do you have any gay friends who’d run a marathon with you? (My friend) Kyle would actually be amaaaazing at running a marathon. He would be cheering the entire time. The only thing: He would want to stop midway to just grab a little bit of rosé, which would make us very sick for the rest of the marathon. Conveniently, he might already have that in his Hydro Flask as you run. You know the ones that are attached to the hat and you just slurp out of them? That would be Kyle’s situation. But he’d be a blast. We’d have so much fun. We’d probably laugh the whole time. Do you have LGBTQ friends in your life who’ve pushed you to be a better version of yourself in the way that Brittany’s gay friend, Seth, does in the film? Absolutely. One of my best friends is Fortune Feimster. She’s hysterical. She is the coolest friend of mine. We did (The Groundlings’) Sunday Company together and then we ended up living next to each other in apartments. Then, when she moved into a house, I moved into a house nearby. I keep telling her I’m stalking her for the rest of her life. She’s had me on her podcast and we’ve talked a lot about our careers because we’ve both been very blessed to have some great stuff happen. She’s always encouraging me; I’m always encouraging her. And she’s kind of my touchstone of someone who just makes me very, very happy. I think she’s

9/12/19 10:08 AM

n

been so smart in her career – the decisions that she’s made and what she’s decided to do and what it says about her – and she’s one of my best friends and I’m a big fan of hers. I love Seth and how supportive he is of Brittany – but what I really love is that he’s not just the token gay best friend. He also has a whole, full life of his own. Remember when gay characters only existed in films for the sake of the female protagonist? This feels like progress. I know, I know. This was written by Paul and he is a gay man, and the character he wrote that was basically inspired by his own story is Seth. This is sort of a love story for her of what she went through and how she achieved these goals, and Seth is a very important character in this movie. He’s always so positive and encouraging, and you’re right: He’s seen in the light that is different from a lot of films as the gay best friend. I think that that is such a wonderful and important thing. And of all the families portrayed in the film, he seems to have the most together, stable family unit. Yeah, he’s married, he has a kid, and all he wants is to have another kid and get in better shape in his life and he’s doing great. He’s a successful human being and that is important to showcase in film. It makes me really sad when it isn’t and so I’m just happy that our film is a part of doing something hopefully right. Do you find that gay male directors have a special way or a different sensibility when it comes to telling a femalecentered story? I can only speak to my relationship with Paul and how we worked together, and there were moments where we would just cry together and moments of great strength. And we had moments where we would laugh till we were on the floor. We just had each other to lean on throughout this whole process, and it was a big bonding moment. Not only was he doing this almost for the second time in his life, because it’s about his real-life best friend, but it was his first film that he was directing and that he wrote, so that was a huge achievement. We just had a really strong connection and we both were very passionate from the beginning about this story and how we weren’t sure if people would get it. We’re so excited now that, for the most part, people are understanding what this story is about. That makes both of us very happy. Before you began filming, you said it was going to be very challenging because of how the movie deals with women’s perceptions of their bodies. But you also were hoping it might be more therapeutic than difficult. Well, you’ve done the film. Was filming this like therapy? You know what? Both kind of happened. And I was expecting that. Sometimes you spiral out after these things, sometimes it’s therapeutic. It was both, but in a healthy way. It just sort of made me look at my relationship with my own body and how I was talking about myself. I can only speak from my perspective, but sometimes you’ll look at other people, some of your best friends, and think, “Oh, they’re all wonderful and beautiful and lovely and smart,” and then you’ll

peach37.indd 13

go home and you’ll say awful things to yourself that you would never say about anyone else. I just felt like this movie hits on that and how society treats you but also how you treat yourself. What it feels like to choose yourself for the first time. By doing this project, I also felt like I was running my own marathon. I didn’t really want to address (these themes) in either film or television unless it was doing it right, and this is the first film that I read that was sort of a transformation story, but it wasn’t like “girl gets skinny, girl has a better life.” To me, that’s very important to put out there for women and men. I shouldn’t say I’m surprised, but it’s been overwhelming how many men relate to that and how difficult it is when you don’t come out looking like Adonis. It’s a lot. By the end of her journey, I was weeping. Because – shocker! – gay men have body image issues too. Awww. I’m so glad you liked the film and you related to it. This is why we did it. I haven’t seen a movie like this in a very long time, maybe not ever, where I thought, “These are real humans, this is a real human story.” There are raw emotions here, and there’s vulnerability in a way that’s so beautiful and isn’t always showcased in film. I just really wanted to be a part of that kind of storytelling. Your filmography has been very LGBTQ-inclusive. As Alice in Rough Night, you were the perfect ally-friend to Blaire and Frankie, played by Zoë Kravitz and Ilana Glazer. Absolutely! We wanted to get them back together! I mean, how cute is that couple? And they were always fighting with each other and we were like, “You like each other! Get back together!” I was so happy with that ending too, because I don’t think I was around when they were shooting that part of the scene where they end up being back together at the end and I loved the way it was handled. It was so beautiful and real. Also beautiful: that cameo from Bob the Drag Queen, who was the DJ while you girls danced to “My Neck, My Back (Lick It).” Oh my goodness, Bob the Drag Queen. Amazing! We had a really good time. I think that was our second day of shooting, and I remember I was so nervous because my character was the one that had to know the dance perfectly because she holds onto her college memories for dear life. So I was in my own head about the dance – and then everybody else was losing their minds over Bob! I was like, “I’m so excited to be working with you too!” We were so thrilled that we got to work with Bob. While writing for SNL, do you recall any LGBTQ-oriented sketches you wrote? I’m trying to remember. It’s funny: I just did an interview today where they were showing a clip from something that I wrote and it was a sketch called “Your Mom Talks to Megan Fox,” and it was just a mother talking to Megan Fox and how funny that conversation would be. But, actually, I’ll be honest with you: I did not get a lot of stuff on the air (laughs). I don’t remember most of

9/12/19 10:08 AM

my sketches, but I’ll say this: I don’t remember anything really making it on. As Cynthia in Sword of Trust, you play a lesbian. Is this the first lesbian character you’ve played, and what can you tell us about her? I’m trying to think if it’s the first lesbian character I’ve played – it might be, technically! I will just say I believe it was originally going to a woman who’s a lesbian – I wanna say that (laughs) – and they called me last minute because she had to go shoot another project, which is very exciting! But I’m hoping I did it justice. We had the best time shooting. Michaela (Watkins, who also stars alongside Bell in Brittany Runs a Marathon) and I were … I would say careful. We wanted to make sure they seemed like a real couple and they really cared about each other. I think that comes across in the movie, that they would do anything for each other. It’s really sweet. As a comedian, are you conscious of what lines should and shouldn’t be crossed when it comes to queer content? Absolutely. One of my good friends is non-binary and we’ve been trying to figure out a way to showcase more artists in the LGBTQ+ community. We would love to do something where there’s an actress who wants to work with a new up-andcoming director who is trans, or a non-binary short film where it’s showing them being the one who saves the day when there’s a plane attack. We are just like, “What are interesting stories we haven’t seen before in making people superheroes or just showing normal life?” Like in our movie, with Seth. Just showcasing more of that.

There was this sort of unofficial questionnaire online, and they were asking a bunch of questions about what they have and haven’t seen in film and television. The amount of LGBTQ people that wanted to be seen but also not killed off immediately was so upsetting to me and it opened up my eyes to the fact that that happens and how sad that is and, you know, if they’re gonna do a remake of Harry Met Sally, what is the gay version? I’m curious to see that. I would love to see that. I would pay for a ticket to go see that film because we’ve seen it the other way for so long. Speaking of role reversal, what’s the latest on the Disney remake of Splash with Channing? Yeah, we’re trying – we’re trying! It’s being written right now. Really excited about it. Anything to work with him again because he is a doll of a human being and, I mean, it would be such a dream come true. I would be playing, basically, the Tom Hanks part, and what is more thrilling than that? And, to boot, Channing as a merman. Yes, Channing as a merman! I’m giving the people what they want. That’s what I’m trying to do. At the very least you’re giving me what I want, so thank you. Yes, I’m doing this for you, Chris. By Scott Sohn

Life seems to be more stressful in today’s modern world than ever before. Constant exposure to frightening news of world events in conjunction with high-pressure jobs, traffic, social media, and uncertainty about the future of mankind are all taking a serious toll on our health. Stress is now recognized as one of the leading contributors to disease in the twenty-first century. Chronic daily stress weakens the immune system and can lead to heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma, obesity, diabetes, headaches, depression and anxiety, sleep disorders, gastrointestinal problems, Alzheimer’s disease, accelerated aging, and suicide. Our body’s stress response evolved over thousands of years to protect us from danger by giving us an adrenalin rush in the face of life-threatening situations. Today, that system gets triggered unintentionally daily simply by living in this high-pressure environment. Constant distraction, coupled with our minds natural tendency to contemplate past and future events in our lives, causes us to miss out on the most important and powerful time in our life, in the here and now. In every single moment, we are either paying attention to what is happening in and around us, or we are lost in thought. Everyone has experienced arriving at a destination after driving and not remembering the journey. That’s because most of the time we are consumed by thought. Thankfully, our brains are so well-designed that they can operate on autopilot virtually all the time. But living on autopilot is no way to experience a full and rewarding life, and it robs us of the magnificence and power we possess in the present moment. Ancient philosophers and teachers like the Buddha and Dosho were in tune with this idea and studied the workings of the mind. They understood the importance of living in the present moment and the role that contemplation and meditation play in calming the mind, allowing us to live in a state of increased awareness and fulfillment. More recently, imaging technology has shown that regular meditation increases brain matter and preserves mental function as we age. A study at Yale University found that regular mindful meditation reduces activity in the default mode network (DMN) of the brain, which is responsible for mind-wandering and negative self-referential thoughts referred to as the “monkey mind.” The DMN kicks in when our brains aren’t thinking about anything in particular and are left to wander from thought to thought. These random thoughts usually tend to drift 20 | 09.18.19 peach37.indd 20

towards regret over past experiences or worry about possible future outcomes. Meditation is also shown to improve attention and concentration after only a couple weeks of practice. Studies are showing remarkable improvements in people with ADD as well as increased scores in verbal reasoning for students taking the GRE test. In addition, meditation helps to relieve symptoms of anxiety and depression and is shown to help those suffering from addiction. One of the most successful meditation programs was started by Jon Kabat Zinn in 1979 at the University of Massachusetts Medical School as the MindfulnessBased Stress Reduction (MBSR) program. The program draws principles from Buddhism and has helped multitudes of people around the world relieve stress through the practice of mindfulness and meditation. The three foundations of mindfulness include Intention, Attention, and Attitude. The practice is a form of paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally. In order to pay attention, we must first set the intention to do so. This intention to be aware of what is happening around us is the first step. Then, as we begin to pay attention to the unfolding of life as it occurs from moment to moment, we become totally present. Every moment then becomes an opportunity to be present and aware. As we observe what is occurring in the present moment, we do so non-judgmentally. This allows us to observe the unfolding of events without attachment or judgment. Mindfulness is an ongoing, moment to moment practice that allows us to be fully present for our lives. When we live moment by moment, life becomes available in unimaginable ways. Meditation is the calibration tool which tunes our minds, allowing us to operate with a higher level of awareness in each moment. Remember, meditation doesn’t have to be some esoteric practice. Simply by taking short amounts of time to quiet the mind and focus your attention on the breath or the natural sounds around you can have profound benefits. CINCHER YOUR WAY TO HEALTH

Follow Mitzi @itsmitzip

I’ve recently started working out again at my local senior citizens spin class. I love going there as the pace and resistance of the workouts are very relaxed. I like to keep fit as I never know when I’ll need to rely on my body-ody-ody to get out of sticky situations (or to have something paid for me). A friend of mine, Helena Hadit, recently joined me on my daily geriatric exercises. She felt self-conscious about working out with so many people around her, so I decided to help by finding some alternate solutions to working out in public gyms. And no, none of my alternates are working out from home, because no one actually likes doing that.

For the first alternate, we flew on my private jet to the beaches of Ecuador. Not so much for the destination, but because the flight was long, and I have a gym on my plane (complete with an on-board personal trainer). We did a marvelous six-hour session, however Helena felt ill as the plane experienced some turbulence during her handstands. A fun note, exercising on a plane is something no one should ever do, and I plan to contact the sales representative who sold me on the idea of buying a GymJet airplane in the first place! While in Ecuador, I took Helena to see a dear old friend of mine. San Puerto is the local shaman who specializes in hallucinogenic workouts. He has a patented program where he spikes your drink during the initial consolation and begins the workout immediately. He believes by being high out of your mind, you can release your physical limitations and fears as he suspends you over an active volcano. The heat coming out of the volcano does wonders for your skin! We started off on a great note, but after watching another client’s rope snap, plunging them into the volcano lava, there wasn’t enough hallucinogenic potion in the world to have us try the workout. We did enjoy the night though, as we stumbled from bar-to-bar completely blacked out. On our flight back to the states, I read a fascinating article about deep freeze workouts. A physical instructor-turned-fitness marketing millionaire, Jimmy Bucks, opened up several deep freeze gyms across the country. They’re very successful, if you’ve not ever heard of one. The main focus of the gym is to have you work out in unlivable, cold conditions. Each location is fitted with treadmills, free weights, latest machines, and a sauna room complete with cold showers. Helena wasn’t too pleased when she developed pneumonia after only being in the gym for five minutes. We went into the sauna for a moment and left. If you’ve been to one of Jimmy’s gyms and have had a bad experience, there is a nation-wide lawsuit on him. Simply look up Jimmy’s Gym Injuries and you can join in to get a settlement. The final place I could think to take Helena was to none other than Cinches2Inches. THE go-to place to get a custom-fitted cincher to reduce your waist to two inches. Helena was immediately impressed by how little-to-no work she had to do to get her size down quick! And the assortment of designs and colors give variety to anyone who wants to get a smaller figure without putting any effort into it. I was pleased Helena got something out of our wild adventure into a better physique. And I hope you got something out of it too. Wherever your physical journey takes you, may you not forget to bring a cincher. Yours in cinching for life,

Do YOU Mind?

T

By Jamie Kirk

Let›s jump right into it; we are not present. We are not living in the present moment. We are not living our best lives. We are not authentic with ourselves or with others. We are living in a time that promotes only the good stuff, avoids the bad, and does not even scratch the surface of what is really going on at our core. Generally speaking, our minds are wandering all the time, either reviewing the past or planning for the future. We can’t enjoy what is going on because we are looking to our left and our right, to see what others are doing. We’ve become less present with our current situation and fixated on someone else’s present moment. When you are mindful, you are not concerned about ANYONE else. When you are mindful, you are dedicated and committed to the present moment and noticing when your mind wanders off. We are all reading articles and hearing horror stories about addiction to social media. Checking our phones every 60 seconds, pulling down to refresh, seeing who has just posted an IG story, who just checked into the airport, etc. But yet, here we are, aware of the pitfalls, and walking right into the eye of the storm and feeling stuck. Stuck in our way of thinking, stuck in the way it feels when we get the “right” kinda attention, which feels good. Stuck in the way we can’t get past old feelings, stuck in the way we can’t get over old loves, stuck in the way we can’t make more money, stuck in the way we allow others to treat us less than we deserve and just plain ole stuck of being afraid to change. Being mindful is becoming very cliché. There are so many books, blogs, and post about “mindfulness meditation.” I support the teachings, and I think the approach to being present is spot on. We are living in a time where our lives are so very stressful that we have a hard time relaxing our bodies and calming our minds. Obviously, not being relaxed and always “on” can put us at a high risk of heart disease, stroke, and other illnesses. It’s no wonder the art of being mindful is taking off - heck, it works. We focus so much of our efforts on the exterior or the 34 | 09.18.19 peach37.indd 34

part that people see. We hit the gym; we get boob jobs, we get hair extensions, hair plugs, tummy tucks, implants, and a ton of other make-over crap. But that is because we are used to being judged. We are used to folks showing us if they “like” us or scroll right on by. If they swipe right, sweet, and if they swipe left, too bad/ too sad. We are conditioned to do things with others in mind. We take pictures, take trips, buy cars, choose mates, sometimes based on what others will accept or approve of. We do not take enough time to really hone in and decide if our decisions are being driven by love or fear. Obviously, everything in our lives needs to be there, in unwavering love. If there is a hint of fear, there is a hint of discomfort. Life is way too short to have any area, personal or work be grounded in distress. Like all ways to be our best selves, it takes discipline, it takes courage, and it takes consistency. It takes dedication and patience when practicing mindfulness. The reason is just like most other areas in our lives: you don’t eat the fruit, the day you plant the seed. The effects of mindfulness can be better felt over time and a committed approach to training the wandering mind to keep coming back to the present, without judgment. After all, it’s really had to be alone with our thoughts. Sometimes our thoughts are not pleasant and don’t become a reality until we admit to ourselves what the issues are. Don’t get me wrong; I think mindfulness is great, but just like being vegan, it ain’t for everybody. Some people get more stressed out, trying to be present and in the moment. Anxiety kicks in, the mind takes off, and the next thing you know, a panic attack can set in. Although mindfulness is not about always being happy, positive, and upbeat, it is an approach to the acknowledgment of being happy, positive, and upbeat. Just taking a few minutes every day to show gratitude for all that is. Mindfulness is about noticing what happens one moment at a time, the easy, the crappy, the difficult and life-threatening, the painful and the joyful. It’s about building your internal muscles to be present and awake in your life. Consider mindfulness as a fitness routine that positively impacts your mind, your body, and your soul.

AQUARIUS (JAN. 20 - FEB. 18) That new guy in your building seems like a loner, not the type of person an ebullient guy like you would associate with. Still, there’s something fascinating about him. If you want to meet him, you will have to break the ice. There are many ways to do that, and some don’t involve stalking. Just knock on his door, and welcome him to the neighborhood. He may surprise you by inviting you in.

PISCES (FEB. 19 - MAR. 20) A down-on-his-luck friend may owe you sum of money you know he can’t pay back. You could find ways for him to repay you short of making him your personal manservant. Still, this is putting a strain on your friendship. Be a humanitarian today, and absolve him of his debt. Never make money more important than the people in your life.

VIRGO (AUG. 23 - SEP. 22)

ARIES (MAR. 21 - APR. 19)

You’ve been hanging with the beautiful people lately, and you’re on the A-list for all the big social events. You love being part of the glitterati, but even you have to admit there’s something shallow about that scene. Your old friends have been wondering where you’ve been. Go back to them today. They’ll have a way of reminding you of who you really are.

You won’t take no for an answer, and your charming personality always has people saying yes. You usually get what you want, but are you using people for your own gain? Curb the selfishness today, and give back. As hard as it is to believe, it’s not all about you.

LIBRA (SEP. 23 - OCT. 22)

TAURUS (APR. 20 - MAY 20)

Today will be a great day to get out of the house or office, and breathe in the fresh air. Being in stagnant environments can have an oppressive effect on your mind and soul. So go for a brisk walk, or open the windows as you go on a long drive. You’ll be amazed how your energies will be revived when you let a little cool, clean water flow into that brackish pool.

We’re living in a material world, and today you are a material girl. Your many possessions give you a strong sense of security -- add to them today by buying classy, tasteful things for the home. Persian rugs and Ming vases may be out of your price range, and you don’t have to travel to Bali for that bamboo room divider. Unearth treasures in you own backyard.

SCORPIO (OCT. 23 - NOV. 21)

GEMINI (MAY 21 - JUN. 20)

You’ve been pursuing that guy for some time now, and he’s proving to be quite elusive. Normally, you love the challenge of the chase, but your patience is wearing thin. Asking yourself the tough questions today may give you a new realization, and open you to some cold truths. Maybe he’s just not that into you.

Everything, and everybody, has two faces today and you’re not sure which one is real. There are shadows lurking behind every corner, so be careful with the people you deal with today. Think clearly and be sure of yourself. Don’t add to the confusion by wearing a mask of your own.

SAGITTARIUS (NOV. 22 - DEC. 21)

CANCER (JUN. 21 - JUL. 22)

Your two key words for today should be fun and laughter. And nothing’s more fun than laughing. So take in a comedy club, watch your favorite episode of The Simpsons or read the latest book from David Sedaris. Best yet, learn to laugh at yourself. As a wise writer once said, he who laughs, lasts.

Starting new projects may prove to be a challenge today, as people with other ideas stand in your way. Your first reaction may be to retreat, but that would be giving up, something that goes against your nature. Instead, find a like-minded pal who supports your views and ideas and tag-team your adversaries. Brilliant minds often think alike and together, the two of you can get the job done.

CAPRICORN (DEC. 22 - JAN. 19)

LEO (JUL. 23 - AUG. 22)

You’ve been so focused on work lately that you’ve been ignoring the friends who’ve been trying to reach you. Your dedication to your job is admirable, but you know what they say about all work and no play. Screw the overtime and reconnect with friends instead today. Having fun in your social life will rejuvenate your work life.

You’ve met someone who is kind and supportive, and who enjoys being in the company of your larger-than-life personality. Your friends agree that you two seem made for each other, so what are you waiting for? You have no problem taking the lead, so ask him out on a date. Take it slow, but let him know how you feel about him. He will love seeing the gentle side of the mighty lion.

seeing a guy on a fairly casual am just coming out (I’m 19), and this Iaam basis so far. We go on dates 2-3 times Iguy at work who I think is gay has month and have sleepovers afterward. asked me out to grab a drink. I’m a little None of us are interested in long-term right now, but there’s potential. On one of these sleepover sates, I woke up to him giving me a blowjob. It felt really great, and I didn’t mind it at all. On the last sleepover date, we had, I thought I’d return the favor, so when I woke up a little earlier than him, I started to blow him. But he fully woke, and got a little upset with me, because he said technically, he hadn’t given his consent to that. That, of course, confuses the hell out of me, because he did the same thing to me! So what do I do now? Do we have a conversation about consent? Sincerely Consensual Alarm Dear Consensual Alarm Clearly, you didn’t feel violated when he started going down on you, but consent is an important thing to give – especially when you still characterize the relationship as casual. Apparently, your date seems to think so, too, despite the double standard-y action! Perhaps next time when you meet you can mention that although you appreciated the sexy alarm clock, you want to make sure that you agree on consensual terms – for instance, that you wouldn’t mind getting woken up like that again another time! That way you don’t put him on the spot for the way he reacted, he gets a chance to explain himself maybe, and you get the potential for more sexy wakeup calls. Certainly beats any chime your phone has to offer.

nervous about it, but I’m also excited. This could be my first experience with a gay guy – possibly even having sex with a guy! Any advice or tips for a successful night? Sincerely First-Timer Dear First-Timer First of all, you need to hold your horses! There are so many open ends and presumptions in this that you could set you up for massive failure, if you don’t take it a LOT slower. So, you THINK this guy is gay, but you are not sure? What do you base this presumption on? Did he say something or do something that would define him as gay? Then there is the fact that he asked if you should grab a drink together. If this would be more of a date set-up, hopefully, it would be more than drinks. This could be a coworker merely wanting to hang out and make a new friend. If he is gay and this was a semi-date situation, there is still no guarantee that this will lead anywhere in terms of hooking up or even getting to that first kiss! Just because he is gay, it doesn’t mean that he automatically wants to have sex with you. So the best piece of advice you can take with you into this is taking it slow and don’t presume anything! Make friends with him and see where it takes you. NEED ANSWERS? REACH OUT TO US, AND YOU WILL GET THEM! SEND YOUR BURNING QUESTIONS TO OUR EDITOR AT MIKKEL@PEACHATL.COM.
