Even though the winters in Atlanta are rarely snowpocalyotic, the season does call for more time indoors. And what better way to spend that than cuddled up in front if the screen!

I especially enjoy the multitude of quality streaming content, like the LGBTQ-themed series Eastsiders. We have an exclusive interview with the series creator, producer and lead character, Kit Williamson who is also our cover model. If you enjoy live musical entertainment in the comfort of your own home, Q music has the scoop, and finally, we wouldn’t miss out on a cinematic experience on the silver screen. Especially, if it is starring some of the hunkiest Hollywood men right now, like in Justice League.

The Full Range of a Musical Icon

Musicologist Quentin Harrison releases his third book - ‘Record Redux: Donna Summer’ - honoring the discography of the musical trailblazer that was Donna Summer. This December, music historian and commentator Quentin Harrison will release Record Redux: Donna Summer, the first book of its kind devoted to the study and review of Summer’s complete body of work. Contrary to most conversations, Harrison looks beyond the 1970s disco mold that has been typically ascribed to Summer and explores her broader canon, which includes 19 albums and more than 80 commercial and promotional singles globally. The aim is to re-contextualize and reintroduce Donna Summer in a deeper way to fans and critics alike. Harrison examines Summer’s full catalog in detail, starting in the late 1960s with her role in the West German production of Hair, and culminating with her last long player release in 2008, Crayons. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013, Donna Summer’s legacy boasts 18 Grammy nominations and five wins — including the notable distinction of being the first person of color and the first woman to win Best Rock Vocal Performance (Female), in 1980 for her single “Hot Stuff.” Summer’s career reveals a creative trajectory that established her as an influential leading act in dance and pop music, helping chart the musical map for artists like Madonna and Kylie Minogue to explore in their own careers.
The installment is the third in Harrison’s Record Redux series and follows the release of Record Redux: Carly Simon and the inaugural series release Record Redux: Spice Girls.

New Gay In Town: One Cheater. Two Threesomes.
New Gay In Town: Broken Open BY Branden Lee
10 | 12.06.17
I was devastated after breaking up with Zimbabwe. I felt guilty because this breakup was my fault. If I only hadn’t made that stupid mistake of texting a guy, I once made out with after Zimbabwe and I made it clear to have no contact with guys from our pasts
Thankfully, Zimbabwe was still talking to me, although he kept reiterating he was done. Zimbabwe kept saying that too much had happened, and he’d rather just go our separate ways. I wasn’t going to accept that. I loved Zimbabwe and was not going to let this be the end of us. I’d call Zimbabwe daily just to see how he was since he just started a new job. I missed hearing his voice, and it was great to speak to him. We’d only been broken up for a few days, but I couldn’t take it anymore. I called Zimbabwe, and he said he was in my part of town. I invited him over. I was worried he’d decline, but luckily he agreed to stop by.
curious. Zimbabwe fell asleep with his phone open, and I couldn’t resist the urge to look through it. At first, I just went through his photos. I was trying to resist the urge to read his texts, but then I couldn’t stop myself. I saw messages with random guys about hooking up, though it seemed like many texts were left unanswered, or Zimbabwe got frustrated and got bitchy with a guy that claimed he didn’t have any condoms or lube. I saw Zimbabwe text one of his exes “I need you,” which did bother me. Why was he telling another man he needed him as soon as he and I had broken up?
Things were awkward at first, but Zimbabwe and I have a connection where we can’t stay mad at each other for long. We worked things out, agreed to delete our apps, and start over. Zimbabwe and I spent the entire next day together, and things were good. It was just like how things had been before we broke up.
What really bothered me was seeing Zimbabwe had been texting the second guy we had a threesome with. I told Zimbabwe that the guy was off limits since it was clear the guy liked Zimbabwe. Their messages were clearly flirty and said they wanted to hook up again. It bothered me to see Zimbabwe had told the guy about our problems and Zimbabwe said I “didn’t appreciate” him.
I had paranoia, though, I couldn’t shake. I just really wanted to know what Zimbabwe had been up to while we were apart. We weren’t broken up for that long, but he does have a tendency to re-download Jack’d whenever we would fight, and I was
I was also livid to see Zimbabwe had been talking to the other guy we had a threesome with earlier that day. After we had gotten back together again. It was obvious the guy wanted Zimbabwe, and he had texted him after we had just resumed our rule of

no longer talking to guys that wanted us. I couldn’t hold this in. I was guilty of snooping and shouldn’t have gone through Zimbabwe’s phone, but I was pissed he’d been talking to the guy, especially after we just got back together. I woke Zimbabwe up to confront him. He got pissed I went on his phone, and I was pissed about what I had read. Things were uncomfortable the next day because we didn’t trust each other. Although I didn’t like what I saw, nothing was too incriminating, but Zimbabwe felt like I would always say I was going to change and act less crazy, but I would keep messing up. We got to a civil point and even tried hooking up again. I know Zimbabwe is used to a more intense level of sex than I am, so I asked him for tips on how to suck his dick better since he’s uncut and I’m not that accustomed to uncut cocks. Then Zimbabwe told me to suck his dick like the guy from the threesome. And I was pissed again. New Gay in Town is back on 12.20! Branden Lee is a writer and blogger now living in Atlanta. Q-MUSIC: CAPTURED LIVE By almost anyone’s standard, I Wish You Love: More from The Bodyguard (Arista/ Legacy) is an unusual way to commemorate the 25thanniversary of the movie The Bodyguard, as well as its accompanying multi-platinum soundtrack. As film debuts go, Whitney Houston’s paled in comparison with, say, Jennifer Hudson’s. But that didn’t stop the soundtrack from becoming one of the best-selling albums of all time. It didn’t hurt that Houston’s breathtaking cover of
Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love” helped lead the way for the soundtrack’s success. The 14 selections on I Wish You Love, all previously unreleased on CD, are meant to supplement the existing The Bodyguard soundtrack. Featured on the album is an alternate mix of “I Will Always Love You,” the “film versions” of “I Have Nothing,” “Run To You,” “Queen of the Night” and more. What makes I Wish You Love especially appealing are the six previously unavailable live recordings from the 1993-95 Bodyguard Tour. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of attending a live performance by Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox, you will understand why it’s silly for them to release a live album. A live DVD would make more sense considering how much of the SBPJ’s show
BY GREGG SHAPIRO
is also visual (see: Sarah Reich, tap-dancer). Nevertheless, that didn’t stop the group, known for its wonderful re-imaginings of contemporary pop, rock, and hip-hop tunes from releasing the disappointing The New Classics: Recorded Live! (Concord/ Postmodern Jukebox). Madonna is another artist whose live shows have increasingly b e c o m e more of a spectacle over the years. So, it makes sense that she would release the c o n c e r t recording Rebel Heart Tour (Eagle V i s i o n / Universal/ Maverick) as a DVD/ CD set. The CD includes 13 songs, ranging from “Burning Up” and “Holiday” to “Bitch I’m Madonna” and “Unapologetic Bitch” (sense a theme?), whereas the visually captivating concert footage DVD
ongoing Bootleg Series, Trouble No More: 19791981 (Columbia/Legacy) follows Dylan’s musical exploits during his brief flirtation with Christianity. The deluxe edition boasts eight CDs containing previously unavailable material dating from `79 to `81. The first two discs present an assortment of live recordings. There are more than 30 rare and unreleased tracks on discs three and four. Discs five through eight are dedicated to concert recordings from Toronto and London, respectively. A DVD simply titled “A Musical Film” features exclusive bonus material. In addition to the extensive liner notes, a 120-page book, “Pressing On,” consists of photographs and more from the period.
includes all the songs on the CD and almost ten additional selections. You might not think that, other than being singer/songwriters, Carole King and Bob Dylan have much in common, but you’d be wrong. Aside from being about a year apart in age, both were nice Jewish kids when they began their careers in the late `50s (King) and early `60s (Dylan). In addition to writing hits for other artists, King and Dylan were also at the forefront of the singer/songwriter movement which reached its peak in the 1970s. As if all of that wasn’t enough, both King and Dylan have recently released live recordings. King’s Tapestry: Live in Hyde Park (Rockingale/ Legacy) is a CD & DVD set that lives up to its title. King performs her classic 1971 album Tapestry in its entirety before a live audience of 65,000. She is joined by her daughter singer/songwriter Louise Goffin on “Where You Lead” and “Will You Love Me Tomorrow.” The remaining songs include early compositions co-written with her late ex-husband Gerry Goffin such as “One Fine Day”, “Go Away Little Girl”, “Locomotion”, “Up On The Roof” and “It Might As Well Rain Until September”, as well as “Jazzman” and a rendition of “I Feel The Earth Move” on which she is joined by the cast of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. LEAN ON ME, DON’T RELY ON ME
By Jamie Kirk
Everyone has that one or two things they do daily that just becomes part of their routine. There are many examples of things we just “do” without thinking. For some folks, it is a glass of wine as they cook dinner. For some, it is taking a walk around the neighborhood. For others, it is meditation. There is no right or wrong way to unwind or decompress from a long day. However, once you become dependent on an activity and get tense or stressed out when it is omitted from your schedule, and you get antsy, cranky or depressed; that can be a sign that the train could be headed to derail.
The difference between a routine and a vice is that routine can be altered and flexibility can come without angst. A vice is often associated with bad behavior that can quickly become suffocating. Think of a pair of vise-grips. Vise-grips tend to fit very tightly and do not leave room or space for anything to seep in. The sole purpose of a vice is to hold you in a place of vulnerability. A common misconception is that a vice equals bad behavior. Being in love can be a vice, always dating someone can be a vice, going to the gym can be a vice, getting advanced degrees can be a vice. Although none of these things seem negative on the surface, anything in excess ain’t good. Vices have to be monitored and controlled so that you don’t allow the pattern-of-choice to become an essential part of your life such that if it does go away, your ability to remain positive and at peace is compromised. During the holidays creating vices is common. Many of us tend to over-spend, over-eat, and over-think what this time of year means. It becomes less about being grateful for what we have and focusing on the deficit areas (which is so very easy to do). The ‘good’ thing about vices is that they allow us to avoid areas in our lives that may need attention. They feel comfortable and familiar, and often think we feel our best when we don’t have 32 | 12.06.17
to challenge or put ourselves “out there.” The only way to grow is to become uncomfortable and push through into an area of our life that stretches us and causes us to put forth genuine effort.
a handle on the way you approach life is not always easy. You have to have a strategy for the change because vices hate strategic approaches. Once you have the strategy and a course of action mapped out, the vice will have no other option than to take a back seat. As a reminder, anything or anyone that you feel is becoming a “need” instead of a “want” should be addressed. Vices make us think it’s just “what I like to do.” Well, that quickly becomes a “habit,” which, in turn, can become “vices.”

We have to be mindful that vices can be good or bad. Beneficial or harmful. Mundane or lifechanging. We have to be in control enough to control the way we live our lives. We can refrain from doing something, and change the way we are living provided it’s not an addiction of some sort. Getting
So, there you have it. Nip obsessive patterns in the bud, and avoid the downstream impacts of trying to pull back from something that may prove to be chaotic, detrimental or unproductive to your well-being and happiness.

THE NOT SO STRAIGHT AND WINDING ROAD
by Mikkel Hyldebrandt
Kit Williamson’s two-time Emmy-nominated LGBT series, EASTSIDERS, returns for a six-episode third season this month. Peach caught up with the handsome multi-tasker to talk about the new season, the American road trip, and reshaping cultural notions of relationships.w business. Mikkel Hyldebrandt: Eastsiders evolves thematically around relationship structures that are constantly being challenged. Is it your impression that gay people are more apt to try out relationship formats that go against societal constructions? Kit Williamson: I think gay couples have different challenges than straight couples—not better or worse, just different. But it’s empowering to realize that in 2017 you can chart a course towards the kind of relationship you want—as long as both partners agree— whether you want your relationship to be monogamous, open or monogamish. I tried to represent that freedom in the different outlooks of the characters. In season 1, Cal and Thom are trying (and failing) at traditional monogamy, in season 2 they decide to open things up and in season 3 they’re questioning if the path they are on is really making them happy. The lesbian characters in season 2 have a much more open relationship, with very strict rules, and Quincy and Douglas have a pretty straightforward relationship with monogamy. I certainly don’t want the show to present the idea that there is a “right” way to be in a relationship, as every relationship is unique. MH: The series’ characters struggle a lot with on the one hand conforming and behaving in an acceptable manner to overall society and on the other living an alternative lifestyle – do you think that is a common struggle associated with being gay? KW: I think a lot of gay people can certainly relate to that—I know I can. Thom especially is a bit of a nonconformist, whereas Cal is a little more traditional. You get to know more about Thom’s background this season and find out that he was raised in a very religious family and is barely on speaking terms with his mother. He’s
lost a lot, and values his liberty because of it—it came at a price. Cal, on the other hand, has a mother that’s VERY accepting, maybe even TOO accepting, and actually encouraged them to open up their relationship in the first season. We also get to see Stephen Guarino’s character Quincy struggle with expanding his idea of what a relationship looks like dating Willam’s character Douglas. In season 2 they have a fight over Douglas’ decision to go to a gallery opening in drag because he has a gig after, and Quincy has to face the fact that he might be harboring some internalized homophobia that’s creeping out. MH: This season draws a lot of parallels to classic road trip movies – what is it that is so American about a road trip? KW: Having driven across it several times, I can tell you that this country is VAST. There is so much empty land in America, still, and it’s both humbling and inspiring. You really get a sense of the possibility and the promise that this country represents when you drive across it, and you get to see firsthand just how differently people live state to state. I’ve always said the United States is a lot more like Europe MH: Obviously, the season deals with making a journey – both literally and emotionally – so, tell us about what it is about this journey that makes this season of Eastsiders special? KW: I think it starts out as Cal and Thom’s journey back to who they used to be—they know that they’re not happy, and they desperately want to get back to a place where they were. But they have to come to terms with the fact that they are fundamentally different people now and figure out what that means for their relationship. Quincy and Douglas are on a similar journey; only they feel stuck—literally, their convertible breaks down in the desert on the way to a drag
UP NEXT! BETWEEN THE SHOW AND SHOOTING A TRAVEL SERIES FOR OUT MAGAZINE KIT WILLIAMSON AND HIS HUSBAND JOHN (WHO PLAYS IAN ON THE SHOW) DEFINITELY CAUGHT THE TRAVEL, AND HAVE LAUNCHED THEIR OWN BLOG, WHERE GENTLEMEN GO, AND THEY ARE RELEASING A VIDEO DOCUMENTING THEIR HONEYMOON IN EUROPE AND THEIR TRIP TO LIFE BALL IN VIENNA. WE’RE VERY EXCITED TO SEE WHERE THE ROAD TAKES THESE TWO GENTLEMEN!
gig in Cathedral City. And they have to muster the courage to take the next step together. MH: You shot the season on location across the country from New York to California – tell us about that experience? KW: It was wild, inspiring and incredibly challenging. I’m grateful for the experience, but I definitely never want to do it again! We got snowed out of Yellowstone, hit a stray tire on the road in South Dakota and shattered a window on the camper trailer in a freak storm. We lost locations because people googled the show and weren’t comfortable letting an LGBT project film. We met incredible, kind and supportive people too. Every day was surprising and a little terrifying! MH: You raised money through crowdfunding to shoot this season. Do you think larger networks and production companies are still afraid to pick up LGBT-themed storylines? KW: Absolutely. That’s just a fact. Things are getting much better in terms of mainstream stories that are inclusive of LGBT characters, but we’re very rarely allowed to be at the forefront. MH: What was the particular thing you had to conquer personally to shoot this season of Eastsiders? KW: It was such a huge undertaking, and it’s a miracle we got it done—we’re a really tiny team, and we don’t have a studio or network producing the series. In a lot of ways, the show has outgrown us. I’d definitely like to be able to bring on some help in the future! MH: You are both behind and in front of the camera – tell us about the pros and cons of being on either side? KW: It’s actually more challenging for me when I have to do just one thing at a time! I love multi-tasking, and I love problem-solving on the fly. Connecting all the disparate elements of a scene, from the writing to the blocking to the cinematography to the emotional life of the characters, is my favorite part of the process. MH: Original content made for streaming is booming right now – how do you see the landscape of original content changing? KW: I think we’re seeing an oversaturated market— there’s so much episodic storytelling out there right now, and the options can be overwhelming. It takes a lot for people to seek out a specific show instead of just stick with the streaming services they watch. That means it’s more important than ever to make sure your story offers something really unique and eye-catching, which is certainly something I aspire to. MH: What are the things that makes this season of Eastsiders fresh and original?
KW: Taking five of the six episodes of the season on the road and shooting on location in sixteen states is something that a mainstream TV production just can’t do—it’d be a logistical nightmare. Because our set is more like a scrappy indie film we can offer something different from typical TV fare shot on a soundstage. And having shot the show now over the course of five years, it’s a really rare opportunity to get to see characters and relationships evolve over such a span of time—you can literally watch these people growing up through the season.

ARIES (Mar. 21 - Apr. 19)
LIBRA (Sep. 23 - Oct. 22)
You may be forced to choose between work and fun today – and the stars suggest choosing fun. Remember that keeping a good work-life balance is important. There’s a difference between ambition and obsession!
A high-flying day will provide a bird’s-eye view of your life – count your many blessings while they’re all in sight. A reminder of a defunct affair may send you plummeting this evening – don’t wallow in maudlin sentiment.
TAURUS (Apr. 20 - May 20)
SCORPIO (Oct. 23 - Nov. 21)
Today you should receive a sign that you are on the right spiritual path – and this sign will also point you to the next step. Watch for personal symbolism and mysterious occurrences. Read between the lines.
Apply the macro to the micro today: Grand philosophical ideas and important economic theories can help you answer personal questions of all kinds. Tonight, take the lead in making plans with your friends.
GEMINI (May 21 - Jun. 20)
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22 - Dec. 21)
Try to ride today’s wave of high energy through the evening – you will likely get a lot done later in the day. A somewhat meek person in your life may be unusually dominant tonight – and you’re going to love this side of him!
Don’t ignore a startling flash of inspiration today – harness it! Tonight, eat at home if you can. You should prepare at least part of the meal, and use local ingredients if at all possible. You’ll find out why soon enough.
CANCER (Jun. 21 - Jul. 22)
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22 - Jan. 19)
A forgotten or unexpected task may disrupt your afternoon or early evening – you may be asked to work late, for instance. Tonight, don’t force yourself to go out if you really feel like staying in.
You may battle frustration at work today. Be assured that great things are happening outside your view -- hang in there. This evening, you can do anything you set your mind to. It should be a fun night!
LEO (Jul. 23 - Aug. 22)
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20 - Feb. 18)
This evening may see you coming to a friend’s – or perhaps a new acquaintance’s – aid. Your good deed will be rewarded tenfold, as long as you don’t boast about it or embarrass its object. Your kindness will be noticed.
An invigorating, pleasant day may fade into a somewhat frustrating evening – outside forces are going to effect change in your life. Don’t fight this – it’ll turn out to be beneficial. Get a good night’s sleep tonight.
VIRGO (Aug. 23 - Sep. 22)
PISCES (Feb. 19 - Mar. 20)
An exterior obstacle may force you to turn inward today – the solution to a worldly problem lies in your soul. Don’t look at this interior journey as a detour: It’ll make the destination all the more meaningful.
When a boss, a parent or some other authority figure says something that is clearly untrue today, it may be advantageous to simply keep your mouth shut. This evening, a bit of unexpected glamour will color social plans.
WHAT happened was . . .
What Happened Was... Trouble in the love department? With sex? Or just people in general? Send us your queries, questions, and problems, and we’ll give you the answers served straight up and with a little ice. I’m a quiet guy, especially when I am out at bars. That also means that guys almost never approach me, and I’ve been told that I come off as being awkward. How do I stop being the weird guy at the bar? Sincerely Bar-Creeper Dear Bar-Creeper When we’re nervous or feel out of place, it is easy to feel awkward, and that feeling can easily manifest itself in a very obvious way to your surroundings. We can unconsciously put up barriers that signal to others that we want to be left alone or are uninterested even though it is just how things appear to be. Luckily, the feeling and appearance of awkwardness is something that can be fixed! It’s all about strengthening your social skills that can be simply learning relaxation skills and breathing techniques, or getting better at making eye contact, and smiling more. You can also learn how to be more aware of your body language and be more intentional to come across as personable with others. Improv acting classes teach you how to be more socially spontaneous, and meeting with a therapist can help you manage stress with various techniques. The most important thing is to practice whatever works best for you, and you will definitely be able to change the way you are perceived by others. I’m dating a guy who is still in the closet. I really like him, but he has said he has no intention of coming out anytime soon. We have a great time together, but we never leave the house, and I’m encouraged by him not to even talk about him because he is that afraid to get caught. What do I do with this guy that I really like? Sincerely Open or Shut It Down? Dear Open or Shut It Down? No matter how you look at it, this is a dilemma that requires some serious contemplation. Because no matter how you look at it, a relationship between two guys that are out fares much better compared to one where one or both aren’t out. There is just a whole slew of issues and inherent complications associated with not being out that can strain and stress the relationship and create conflicts. For you, it can end up feeling like he is almost forcing you back in the closet because he is actively restricting your ability to live freely and authentically. The question is: are you willing to let this man limit your life in this way? If not, you know the answer to your own question. 52 | 12.06.17
I met a guy online who lives in another state three months ago. It’s a quick and cheap flight, so we met about a month ago in person, and we really hit it off. He even talked about getting together again, about meeting his friends and family, and I even overheard him referring to me as his boyfriend to someone at a bar. I’ll admit, it all seemed very quick to me, but we do have a good connection. Two weeks ago, he came for another visit, and he mentioned the option of me moving to his city, and I’m not entirely opposed to the idea. However, I went back online to deactivate my account, and I noticed his profile was still active, that he had logged in recently, and that he had updated photos of himself well after we had gotten together. So, I’m not sure what to think of it all now. If he’s practically planning a future with me, why is he still active on this site? Am I overthinking it? Should I bring it up? Sincerely Option-One-Of-Many? Dear Option-One-Of-Many? Ah, gauging the state of the relationship is an eternally challenging conundrum! So many questions arise; maybe he realized he was too forward? Maybe you read too much into his musings? Maybe he does not realize how what he is saying is making you feel? Maybe he is really just keeping all of his options open? You have every right to ask him about this – and it doesn’t have to be direct either, you can simply say something like ‘I still get notifications from this app even though I’m off it. How about you?’ That can Segway into a conversation about online presence and potential boundaries in your budding relationship. It is obvious communication is key here, since there are already some things that are not disclosed openly between the two of you. If you want to call him out in a more undercover way, create a fake profile and approach him online; that’ll tell you immediately if he really is keeping all options open and is playing you. But be prepared for the consequences of this one, because it is not exactly conducive to an open and honest relationship, to begin with.
