Not Playing Around! Toy Party Is BACK!

By Mikkel Hyldebrandt

After a year of being without the premier Holiday party of the season, Toy Party is back and in person on December 5 at the Biltmore Ballrooms. The board has decided to pull out all the stops and more for this event – and to keep everyone safe, you have to show your vaccination record to attend. Peach caught up with Board President Shawn Martin about just how fabulous this event will be – because this year, the Toy Party is not playing around! First, tell us about this fantastic venue – why did you choose the Biltmore Ballrooms for this year’s event? The board couldn’t think of a beer fit to reintroduce this year’s Toy Party & Silent Aucon aer being virtual in 2020. The Biltmore Ballrooms offer an elegant atmosphere that will complement this year’s event. It will hold 1,250+ people on one level with ADA accessibility while also guaranteeing a convenient locaon right here in our backyard so partygoers can connue the celebraon in the “gayborhood” post-Toy Party. People are anxious to get back to celebrating Holiday parties again – what are some of the well-known and familiar features of this year’s Toy Party? We are offering two levels of ckets this year. Both cket levels require a toy valued at $20 or more for entry. Our General Admission cket ($35) gets access to Toy Party & Silent Aucon, all entertainment, and also comes with four drink ckets and hors d’oeuvres. Our VIP Experience cket ($250) gives Party Goers full access to Toy Party & Silent Aucon along with exclusive access to the VIP Cocktail Hour at 5 PM, access to the VIP Lounge, VIP Exclusive Bars with unlimited drinks, hors d-oeuvres, and meat-carving staons. You will also get a commemorave VIP swag bag that is like no other swag bag Toy Party has ever done! I’m sure you have a few secrets up your sleeve – can you reveal any of them at this point? I can’t reveal any secrets, but I will say that Toy Party 2021 is going back to its roots. The FTK Board of Directors is focused on making this year’s event one of the most elegant, fun “pares” that we have hosted since our incepon. Look out for Santa & Mrs. Claus, and you also beer be careful because you may also come face to face with the real-life “Grinch.” Stay tuned to our social media and website for upcoming announcements. What has the past year taught you about having an event like Toy Party? It is crucial for organizaons such as For the Kid in All of Us to host our annual events to stay relevant and in the minds of all of our supporters. It gives us a chance to come together to showcase our beneficiaries and showcase the work we all do to help Georgia’s Kids in need. It is that one chance where you can say thank you and remind people there is sll work to be done -- and this event not only allows us to do that but also raises significant funds to help us in our mission.

This will be a large-scale event with a lot of attendees – how are you keeping guests safe and healthy? We are fortunate to have a board-cerfied physician who serves on our board of directors, Dr. Michael Riley. Dr. Riley has formed a Covid-19 commiee and has been working closely with the Fulton County Health Department and City of Atlanta to ensure we are following all CDC and City of

Atlanta Guidelines to ensure everyone is safe at this year’s Toy Party. The board has also voted to have a Covid-19 vaccine mandate, and this means anyone looking to aend this year’s event must submit proof of vaccinaon to be allowed entry into Toy Party. We have also scaled back the event from 1750 to 1250 to ensure we are not overcrowding the space and giving everyone room to breathe. We can’t wait to be there – where do I get a ticket? Tickets are on sale at www.forthekid.org! If you can’t attend this party, how can you support For The Kid’s amazing work? We ask anyone that can’t come out for Toy Party to please contemplate supporng us by donang via cash app at $forthekidatl or on our website at www.forthekid.org. Any amount is greatly appreciated and helps us connue our mission. We also hear that you are recruiting new board members for next year’s events and fundraising – if someone is interested, where do they apply? We are always looking for new board members who bring varied experience and elements to our board. You can find a link to our board applicaon on our website under “Join the Board’ at www.forthekid.org. ---Toy Party & Silent Auction Biltmore Ballrooms |Sunday, December 5, 2021 VIP Recepon 5PM | General Admission 6PM VIP admission: $250 + a toy of $20 value or more General admission: $35 + a toy of $20 value or more Tickets at forthekid.org

I think we all have similar issues. What are your coping mechanisms outside of drinking that you do do relieve some stress? Can you begin to implement them when you go home? If you can focus on the good habits that you have in place, then maybe you can start to really focus on how to mend some potentially toxic relationships with your family. What you also have to realize is that your family probably deals with some of the same issues... The best advice I got about my mother in particular dealing with stress and taking it out on me or my sister was this: "Once you leave home, your parent's life starts to open up again. They deal with stress as often as you do, and they will begin to have their own life again. Understand that, and a lot of the things that may bother you will wain."

It is now, Sag season which means that you are going to have a wild rollercoaster of a ride coming up here soon. You are going to meet some new and interesting people in the next few weeks and you are going to learn a lot from them. Whether it be what you like in a person, or what you hate in a person... you will still learn from them regardless. Now, just be sure to be open to it! Your feelings are showing, Capricorn. Well, maybe it's what you consider to be your ONE feeling that you dont want to show. Whatever the case may be you have the right to let things out and express what you're feeling. It does not mean that you are going to be comfortable with the vulnerability, but you have the opportunity to show a side of yourself that you haven't to many people before

You are no fool, Aquarius. You have a sixth sense where you know damn well when someone is lying to you or being phony. You might have some people who are trying to fool you for whatever reason, but you can definitely spot them and you are NOT having it this week. Be clear with your intention and others will know exactly how to behave and act around you. No BS!

Money is a bit of an issue for you lately, but thats the norm for everyone around the holidays. How you decide to go about handling it though is what is going to set you apart. You can be the bigger person and deal with it with class, or you could beg people to help you. But, you're very independent... so that wont be happening. It is time to take a seat and relax for a bit, Aries. You can enjoy just experiencing things around you for a bit and really allow yourself to soak up everything that you can. Times can get tough for you, but you dont everythi need to get involved in other people's drama. Maybe you can get away for a bit to enjoy some solitary time.

You have been holding onto a secret but you need to let it out to someone. Counseling can be a great option if you dont want to open to anyone close to you. You feel like people are going to judge you but you shouldn't have to worry. A professional can help you move through trauma in a healthy way. You are very detail oriented, and some tasks this week will require a bit more attention. You are going to move into something new this week and everyone will be turning to you for your attention to specifics on the project. Whether this is a group project or something you are going to be doing solitary, be prepared for the most detail oriented project this year. Home Is going to be your safe haven this week, so you need to take the time to really make sure that it is all set up the way YOU want it. Do not allow anything or anyone else to dictate how you live in your personal space. No, ma'am. Your house, your rules. Relationships are best when you communicate. If you stay true to yourself, then you will be able to really draw people in. Authenticity is your focus this week, so try to take the moment to be social, take a trip or speak about something you are passionate about in order to get people into who you are! There's something to be said for getting noticed, and that's exactly what's on your agenda for now, but also for a while to come. Still, for the moment, you're more than happy to satisfy yourself with simply knowing that the people who love you care enough to make you feel grounded and totally secure. Be fair, and make sure they know the feelings are mutual! Here we go again with everyone needing you help this week. You have the caretaker personality down to a "T" and you definitely want to help, but you are hesitant because of being burned in the past. Make sure that you realize the real reason you are helping is not for you to feel good about yourself, but because it is in your nature. People rely on you a lot this week, Scorpio. However, you're used to that. And while hile you try to be as distant as possible because you have your own things to worry about, you are also a big softie at heart. So, while they might reach out and try to get your advice on the matter at hand, try to listen and give solid advice that you would want to hear as well. You know you can do it. So do it.
