It's all about travel with me this week, Peaches. So I came up with a pretty upbeat playlist for the flight to your fave destinations! Heading to Cancun, PV or Mexico City? Maybe you're jumping across the pond to Europe... This is the playlist for you while you're floating at 35,000 feet. It's only ten songs, so add your faves to the list and mix in a bit of your own personal spice! Enjoy!

Spring has sprung and so has the latest number of passengers flying daily to international destinations. With the new institution of “Optional Masks” on airlines, many more folks feel relieved that the airlines are doing away with the mask mandate. But is it the best idea considering we are still fighting a pandemic? While numbers might be decreasing world wide, there is also the chance that we will see an uptick in numbers of Covid cases as the spring and summer travel continues. Let’s make one thing clear though: while traveling, if traveling, there are ways to stay safe, healthy and entertained on the road.
Clean Everything Just like your mom told you to do, you may as well do it. It doesn’t hurt to add a little more protection to the seat you are occupying for the 8 hour trans-oceanic flight or even the hour plus long skip and hop to Orlando with the family. Either way, even with the airlines cleaning in between flights, it doesn’t hurt to add the extra layer or precaution.
Travel Light It’s spring and summer time, why are traveling with so much? Enjoy being by the pool or by the beach when and if you can. And if not, then dress light and airy. One pair of sneakers, one pair of heels for folx and a pair of flip flops will go a long way. Mix and match your clothing to make several outfits with less that you’re traveling with.
Set A Budget If you can set a budget for yourself on how much you plan to use for the trip then you’ll be able to really enjoy yourself. There’s nothing like stressing when you come back from a trip that you won’t have enough money for rent, bills, etc because of your over spending on vacation. If you have kids, make sure to set a budget for each of them as well. Maybe a $25 souvenir budget per kid? Souvenirs while expensive typically fall within the $15-$30 range for a nice one.
Invest in Good Toiletries Toiletries are the end all be all of a night out all sweaty and coming to the hotel to enjoy the shower or bath. If you find a brand you like, invest in the big bottles and a travel kit where you can bring your own with you. It also saves the awkwardness and potential health issue of having a reaction to the soaps and shampoo from the hotel while on a vacation! No one wants a trip to the ER for any reason!
Have Fun! Be Safe! If you’re traveling alone, then share your location with someone. If you’re traveling in a group, go in groups. There’s nothing more important than tracking your footsteps while on vacation; especially for places you’ve never been before. If you’re leaving the hotel to go somewhere then write on a notepad or napkin where you are and what time you left your hotel room. When entering a room, make sure to do a sweep of the room first. Don’t just immediately get comfortable. Make sure the room is up to par, clean and safe for occupancy prior to settling in. Drinking? Keep tabs on your drink and accept nothing from a stranger directly. Someone wanting to buy you something? Change your mind on what you want then tell the bartender as soon as the drink is delivered, or get the drink from the bartenders hands. While we all want to go back to normal, this travel season is going to be a tough one… be safe out there and be friendly! Flight Attendants and airline workers are going to be hustling. Drivers are going to be overworked. Hotel staff are going to be busting their asses. If you can, tip a little to show your appreciate your housekeeping, your travel crews, and those who are making your trip the best Spring Break/Summer Travel/Girls Weekend/GayCation, whatever!

Botanical Garden Opens ORIGAMIINTHEGARDEN Exhibit | Saturday, May 7th (10 AM) Origami, meaning “folding paper” in Japanese, reflects the essence of creativity: making something out of (basically) nothing. Start with a simple square piece of paper. Artist Kevin Box takes origami to another level, transforming paper into museum quality metal sculpture through processes he has pioneered in teamwork with foundries, fabrication shops, and his studio staff.

Dear Peach, My partner has been spending a lot of time on their phone. While I understand the need to connect due to the nature of their job, I also wonder often if the phone is causing a disconnect between us. It’s at dinner, it’s at home, and even when we were on vacation. After asking them to take a moment away from the phone for me, they became defensive. What do I do to reconnect while asking them to DISconnect?
Well, you are in a common dilemma that many people are facing this day in age. COVID has forced a lot of people to work remotely which has negatively impacted home life for many; even those who live alone. The lack of an office now forces these folks to turn the space that used to be their sanctuary and relaxation spot into a workspace. So now more than ever, people are connected in a way that removes them from the everyday. Try having a conversation centered around understanding the need to stay connected for work but that it’s having an effect on you. Say that during dinner there are no phones, just you two. When you’re on vacation, set boundaries about maybe working one hour a day but focusing on setting that Out-Of-Office message. Make sure you understand the necessities of their job, but don’t waiver from spending time together. You deserve that too.
