With a career that spans 20 years, Johnny Manuel has shown many different sides to his artistry. Now he’s ready to show the world who he truly is as a singer, songwriter and musician.

The prolific queer artist and The Voice Australia finalist Johnny Manuel is back with the release of “Again,” the soulful first single of his upcoming EP Younger Skin, out October 7. Produced by Aidan Laprete (Amazon’s The Wilds), Younger Skin is Johnny’s first-ever

Johnny Manuel Has Done It “Again”

JOHNNY ON THE MEANING OF “AGAIN”

“’Again’ is an emancipation of sorts. It’s me celebrating parts of myself I was told I wasn’t supposed to. I’m shaking off the opinions I was afraid of. I’m living on the other side of what used to hold me back and giving myself permission to enjoy that. I’m falling deeply back into what I was told I had to leave behind. It’s me feeling my oats a little bit too. That’s part of what made writing this with Aidan Laprete and Mischa Mandel so fun. I’ve never talked like this on

Defining his own artistic vision across multiple projects with creative collaborators Grammy-winning artist/producer Nick Littlemore (PNAU and Empire of the Sun) and rising artist/producer Aidan Laprete, Johnny’s new sound finally allows him to be his authentic self.

a record before. It was liberating. I think this song is also a testament to Aidan’s genius as a producer. It’s so clever and infectious. I’m obsessed with his production on this one.”

of his latest project, he says, “There was a level of comfort I hadn’t experienced in the creation of my music before and it allowed me to open up. The icing on the cake was having it mixed by Elijah Marrett-Hitch, and his magic ears, and mastered by Dale Becker. Their combined level of skill and attention to detail elevated the EP and gave it the polished finish it needed.”

In the wake of several global crises, designers have responded by redefining our relationship to our homes. Stephen Burks: Shelter in Place is an exhibition that explores ideas concerning domesticity during a time of worldwide upheaval, tackling the question of how we can design interiors to enable joyful living while empowering creativity. As an African American designer, Stephen Burks has forged a distinctive path by embracing the challenge to advocate for hand production as an innovative approach for industry. This exhibition is organized by the High Museum of Art, Atlanta.

This first museum survey of Deana Lawson’s photographic oeuvre spans two decades, and includes more than 60 works, including collage, photography and video. Lawson’s work challenges conventional representations of Black identities and bodies. Her photographs evoke a range of photographic histories and styles, including family albums, studio portraiture and staged tableaux; she also employs documentary pictures and appropriated images. Traveling through the African diaspora in locations as varied as Brooklyn, Haiti, Jamaica, Ethiopia, Brazil, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Southern United States, her images explore ideas about individual and social histories, sexuality and spiritual beliefs. This exhibition is co-organized by ICA/Boston and MoMA PS1.

Monir Farmanfarmaian: A Mirror Garden

Auguste Rodin (French, 1840-1917) is one of the most celebrated sculptors of the modern age. This exhibition follows Rodin’s rise to eminence in the United States due in large part to the collectors, critics and curators who helped make it happen. Auguste Rodin’s stunning sculptures are represented in museums and private collections across the globe. But it wasn’t always the case. This exhibition follows Rodin’s rise to eminence in the United States due in large part to collectors, critics, and curators who helped make it happen. Featuring works from Rodin’s own collection and from the collection of his patron, American sculptor Richard Morris Hunt, alongside loans from museums across the United States, this exhibition, organized in conjunction with ICA Boston and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City, will offer the opportunity to see how Rodin’s reputation evolved throughout his lifetime, especially in America. This exhibition is organized by the Clark Art Institute, Williamstown, Massachusetts.

Rodin in the United States: Confronting the Modern

This exhibition is the first posthumous presentation of the work of Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian, Iran’s most celebrated and revered visual artist, at an American museum. Known internationally for her geometric mirror sculptures, the artist has been celebrated for her ability to embody the “spirit of the eternal present” by aesthetically reconciling modernism with ancient Persian motifs. This exhibition features a selection of works from across four decades and includes sculptures, drawings, textiles and collages. Curated by David Galloway and Christiane Gruber, it includes a selection of works from the 1970s to 2018 spanning paintings, drawings and collages in which Farmanfarmaian explores themes such as geometry, light and color. This exhibition is organized by the High Museum of Art,

Scofflaw’s Sixth Anniversary!

I’ve been wanting to get a tattoo lately but haven’t found the right inspiration for one that really speaks to me. I just know that I want a tattoo. Any advice on where to start looking for inspiration for

Yes!stuff?So,Pinterest

has some great boards where you can find inspiration for stuff. However, don’t do something you’ve seen already is my advice. I like to have my pieces mean something significant in my life, but you don’t always have to be that way. Many folks get pieces done that are just adornments for their bodies with no significance other than they liked it! Both are equally legitimate. People love to ask what tattoos mean to folks, and I think this: sometimes a tattoo will mean the world to someone, and it might be of significance much more than one is willing to share, so keep it to your self. I have a quick and short story for my most significant piece that I tell people. All up to you how much you want to share with someone!
