NEW COUNCIL MEMBERS were all smiles following a swearing in ceremony held during last evening’s inaugural municipal council meeting at the Peachland Community Centre. The brief meeting was followed by a well-attended reception in the adjoining banquet hall. The first committee of the whole and council meeting will be held on December 9 at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. respectively. The new council members are, from left to right, Peter Schierbeck, Pam Cunningham, Mario Vucinovic, Mayor Cindy Fortin, Keith Thom and Mike Kent. Missing from photo is councillor Terry Condon.

Peachland will be back in the black, but not until spring, according to BC Hydro

spokesman Dag Sharman. In an interview following last Friday’s four and a half hour planned emergency outage, Sharman told The View the November 28 outage was deemed necessary by BC Hydro’s emergency assessment

crews on Thursday morning to make long-term repairs to the lines and distribution pole that feeds Peachland. Unfortunately, he added, the on site crews on Thursday determined that the outage, which was initially estimated to

be an eight hour job, would take longer and another outage would be necessary to fix the pole permanently. He expects the repairs done on See LOCAL BUSINESS on page 2
