“We’ve experienced community in every sense of the word.” Family grateful after losing everything in Desert Pines fire KRISTEN FRIESEN EDITOR

BEFORE THE FIRE the Boa famiy said goodbye to dad Brad on the Sunday before the blaze. No one was home when flames broke out May 6. PHOTO COURTESY DAVINA BOA

From the ashes of a terrible fire, a Peachland family says the sheer generosity they’ve encountered will allow them to eventually, rise again. “Community knows no bounds,” says Davina Boa, who along with her husband Brad and two daughters, were left homeless after a fire ripped through their home May 6. While Brad is in Alberta working towards a journeyman welding certificate, Davina is staying at her mom’s house in Peachland with the couple’s two young daughters, 16 month-old Layla, and Malaika, who just turned four. Dealing with the loss of their three pet cats and one rat has been the hardest part, says Boa, who is in the midst of dealing with insurance and replacing essential items. They’re also trying to find a rental in Kelowna for now, but want to rebuild here in Peachland. What she keeps coming back to however, is gratitude. “We’ve had family from here to Ontario, to England and New Zealand. Friends from here and Alberta, even strangers. Our Peachland community, our daycare community, my KF Aeorospace community... we are, and always will be, so grateful.” She also thanked the fire department for preventing the fire from spreading to her neighbours’ homes. The cause was deemed electrical in nature.

Her mom, Sandra Mendoza has lived here 27 years, and says people have been dropping by with home-cooked meals and items for the kids. Three handmade quilts by the local quilters group were also greatly appreciated. While the family gets back on their feet, friends of Mendoza’s have suggested if Peachlanders want to help, they can drop off gift cards or other donations at the Visitor Centre, which is open Tuesday to Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

THREE LITTLE BUDDIES Ecko (on the bottom), Paris the tabby and Dexter the Siamese cat were all lost in the blaze. That’s been the most heartbreaking part, says Sandra Mendoza, whose daughter lost everything in the fire. “My heart aches for them,” she says. A pet rat didn’t make it out, either. It was determined the cause of the fire was electrical. -PHOTO COURTESY DAVINA BOA

Tuesday’s council meeting

NEWS

Peachtree signage, expense claims, name-calling and more Peachtree Signage

• A request from the Peachtree developer to put up a mesh fence around the site – at 5760 and 5766 Beach Ave., during construction was opposed by three councillors and as a result, will not be allowed. Gaetan Royer, president of CityState Consulting Group wanted to install the fencing, which would have included artwork from five locals who won a contest last year, along with marketing information about the development. It was also intended to block the visual impact of construction, once it gets underway. District staff were in support of issuing a variance permit, as long as it didn’t impact sightlines at the intersection of 4 St and Beach Ave. Four residents wrote in their opposition to the proposal, and councillors Terry Condon, Keith Fielding, and Pete Coolio voted against it. Councillors Pam Cunningham, Patrick Van Minsel and Mayor Cindy Fortin voted to allow the

fencing. Councillor Mike Kent was absent from the meeting. Speaking after the vote, Royer said they’re disappointed with the decision, but are still proceeding with the development. “We’re just disappointed for the artists and frankly, this is something you see all over Kelowna on construction sites, but that’s OK.” When asked if the vote against the fencing was more about a vote against the development itself, Royer said “I can’t speculate about what motivates people to vote one way or another.” Building permit drawings were sent to the district on Monday, said Royer, who couldn’t provide a date when they’re breaking ground. “We’re not in control of the approval of those drawings, and we’re not in control of certain other contracts that need to be done, but we’re hoping there’s going to be some activities on site with regards to site preparation,

things that do not require a permit, very shortly.” Mayor Cindy Fortin said after the meeting that as mayor, she’s able to bring the fencing proposal back to council. “I want to go on the record as saying as mayor, I can bring this back, and I intend to.”

Expense Claims and Name Calling

• Councillor Terry Condon wants to amend the district’s travel and expense policy to include a statement that allows for councillors to receive compensation for all reasonable expenses, as he feels the current policy is too narrow in scope. He brought forward a notice of motion to councillors Tuesday night. “This arose because I made a submission for what I considered to be a legitimate business expense claim, and I think it was rejected because it was not on the list,” Condon told councillors. “The claim that I made was for the additional cost I am required to pay on my automobile insurance because I use my vehicle for business conducted on the town’s behalf,” he said, explaining that because of his retiree status and age, his insurance doesn’t permit his vehicle be used for business reasons. “So, if I’m expected to use my car on council business, then I submit that it’s a legitimate business expense to pay the difference between my retiree rate and the least expensive rate that would allow me to use my vehicle on corporate business….all I’m looking for is a change to this policy that doesn’t limit the claimable ex-

penses to those currently listed.” While councillors Pete Coolio, Patrick Van Minsel, and Keith Fielding said there could be room to broaden allowable expenses for unforeseen circumstances, subject to approval, mayor Cindy Fortin disagreed with Condon’s reasoning. “I personally think that when you sign on for this, this is what you sign for. I’ve been paying extra, and it’s part of the job and we do get mileage and I think that’s factored into the mileage part of it. I think we have a certain responsibility to the taxpayers of this community and that we get reimbursed for mileage for all events outside our community. This is going above and beyond what I think we should get for expenses.” Before councillors voted, a man in the audience made a remark the mayor was “a grumpy bitch tonight.” He and a friend were asked twice to leave, before exiting council chambers. Councillors then continued with their vote on whether to get staff to bring a report on the matter for council to consider in the future. It was carried.

...and more

• Council also approved to continue providing electric vehicle charging stations at no cost for another six months, making it easier for staff to determine usage after what’s expected to be busier summer months for the plug-in service. According to the stats released for the past six months, usage ranged from four unique visits in December, to 16 in April. • Council also voted to renew the ladder truck agreement they’ve had with the City of West Kelowna for several years. The agreement allows access to the aerial fire truck and trained staff to respond from West Kelowna. It’s never been needed, but Fire Chief Dennis Craig said they do take advantage of training opportunities on the truck, as part of the agreement. The annual standby charge is increasing slightly from last year, by 2.5% per year for the five-year term of the agreement.

It was a big moment for Peachland last weekend. Hundreds of people were there, from locals, to three levels’ worth of politicians, and of course, the volunteers who made it all happen. They all said the same thing: This is your pier, Peachland. It’s going to be great for tourism and our economy, and now, we can all walk or wheel over water. Cue the big unveiling and the ribbon cutting and as the white cloth dropped, the Ray Kandola Heritage Pier was officially opened. But wait – who is Ray Kandola? I wouldn’t have known either, if it wasn’t for my job here at the paper, or my volunteer duties on the Peachland Elementary

Rotary president Ray Kandola was at the elementary school last week, days before the pier unveiling. He and Rotary past president Peggy Southin presented a $2,000 cheque to the school’s PAC, to help pay for their new playground. PAC (parent advisory council). Yes, Ray is the co-founder of BC-based chain City Furniture (the West Kelowna store is one of the family’s 20+ locations). He’s also president of the Peachland Rotary. Together the Rotary, the Peachland Lions and the Peachland Sportsmen’s Association formed the Peachland Pier group, which for almost five years, worked tirelessly to get the pier built. The project, which came in at a little under $500,000, was paid for entirely through grants and donations, and its ongoing maintenance, rental and operation is now in the hands of the District of Peachland. I’ll explain why exactly Ray’s name is on the pier in a bit – but first, I’ll share with you a quick example of how we PAC people came to know him.

Back in February, our PAC decided to attend one of the Rotary’s Thursday lunch meetings. It’s a meal at the Gasthaus, followed by a presentation from a guest speaker. PAC treasurer and super-awesome school volunteer Leath Strench and I were up at the podium, and we had a big ask: Our PAC must raise $9,255 every year in order to help pay for our new school playground. Despite our successful hot lunch program and other fundraisers, it’s still a daunting amount to raise for a small group of volunteers who are in the thick of raising kids, driving kids and working full time jobs. We spoke, we crossed our fingers, and we waited. Then, last week we received word that the Rotary had a cheque for us. (continued on the next page)

PEACHLAND’S NEW PIER

SPEECHES AND STROLLERS, and hundreds of people: The grand opening of the Ray Kandola Heritage Pier was a success, say those who worked tirelessly on the project. At left, Ray Kandola speaks before the official unveiling, and afterwards, Ryan and Jackie Cheung, with their three year-old daughter Laura, went for a stroll. They drove from Vernon to check out the new pier.

Who is Ray Kandola, and why is the pier named after him? (Continued from previous page) Ray, and Rotary past president Peggy Southin arrived at the school with one of those oversize cheques. They not only donated $2,000 to our playground fund, they’ve also pledged to participate in future fundraisers for our school, including our upcoming carnival June 6. The dunk tank has caught their eye, so be warned – they’re hoping to get as many people wet as possible (fair warning to the Peachland Lions, who also donated $2,000 to our PAC coffers and are lending us a hand at carnival this year!). Now, I’ve shot my share of grip n’ grins (pictures of people presenting cheques to smiling recipients), but this one was pretty cool because it goes to show that if a need in the community presents itself, there are local groups here to help, and help generously they will. Now, our PAC is small beans compared to the pier project – an ultra impressive feat that involved dozens of people dealing with grant applications, engineering renderings, the effects of the 2017 flood, and other hurdles that had to be crossed before last weekend’s opening. That brings me back to Ray, and the naming of the pier. As the Peachland Pier group got further into fundraising, different tiers of contributions were discussed. Names could go on plaques for a fee, same as the benches and the fishing bays on the pier. Likewise, it was discussed that if someone was able to make a significant individual donation, the donor would have the pier named after him or her. It wasn’t something that occurred to Kandola right away. “About a year and a half ago, we still needed a major donor for the project,” Kandola said. “My daughter happened to be in town at the time, and we were chatting with my wife and I asked them how they felt about contributing some funds towards the pier project. They both said that if we can help, we should.” So, he personally donated a sizeable amount, a figure he’s reluctant to share publicly. “Even last week, there were some who wanted to announce it, but I don’t want to make that public. I do feel proud, but I’m also humbled. This pier is going to be an important part of Peachland’s tourism and economy.”

Saturday’s speeches, ribbon cutting and dedication was a special moment, says Ray, not only because it was the end of years of hard work, but also because family members from Kamloops and Prince George (where his three daughters and six grandsons live), attended the ceremony. Local politicians were joined by MP Dan Albas and MLA Dan Ashton, as well as Jeff Bourne of the Rick Hansen Foundation, who said this pier is the only one of its kind on Okanagan Lake. “We call this a barrier-busting build because this pier is fully accessible to anyone, whether they’re blind, deaf, or in a wheelchair,” he said. Eldon Kerbes, president of the Peachland Pier group, told the crowd the front entrance will be paved, ensuring better wheelchair access. Other finer details such as the lighting (a separate project to be completed by the end of June), and redoing some of the plaques, will also be undertaken. “This pier was only possible through the generosity of this community, and even beyond,” said Kerbes, addressing the crowd of about 500 people. “It’s not our pier, it’s your pier. You provided the funds for it.” Mayor Cindy Fortin congratulated the Peachland Pier group, saying they persevered through a couple seasons of fires and floods to make the pier something that everyone can enjoy. “Now I can’t wait to catch a fish, that would be nice,” she said. As for Kandola, he admits the namesake thing hasn’t really sunk in yet. “I was telling my wife that I really enjoyed hearing from people (at the ceremony) about how much they like the pier and some thanked me for the donation. That was really satisfying.” Chris Boyle, who served as vice president of the pier group and is one of Ray’s longtime friends, said the entire project would never have happened if all three groups weren’t completely committed to getting it done. “All in all, the entire Peachland Pier group worked so well together, and it shows the benefit when people focus on something worthwhile, something that will help the community – and this pier will help the community for decades to come. It’s more than a structure over water, it’s about the tourism and economic benefits the pier will bring.”

CREDIT TO VOLUNTEERS:

There’s too many to name here, but the work of the Peachland Lions Club, Rotary Club of Peachland, and the Peachland Sportsmen’s Association, to make the pier happen, is pretty amazing. Here, project manager and engineer John Abernethy, checks out a commemorative sign. He pointed out Michael Weilmeier of CWMM Consulting defined the task, Structurlam Timber supplied a unique product and Bob Jones of Shoreline Pile Driving directed the work. “The quality and workmanship are excellent and both Shoreline and Structurlam contributed generous cost reductions,” he said.

Thank You and Congratulations

...to all the Donors and Sponsors, especially the Peachland Lions Club, Rotary Club of Peachland, and the Peachland Sportsmen’s Association for your efforts and contributions towards Peachland’s beautiful Pier Project. Special thanks to the Kandola family for your generous financial support.

The Pier turned out better than imagined... for all to enjoy year round! Sincerely,

Day wharf done,

new docks appearing & crews are finishing up blue dock repairs KRISTEN FRIESEN EDITOR

Just in time for the long weekend and the World of Wheels car show, Peachland’s day use wharf is finally fixed, after the 2017 flood. And as for the docks, there’s still some finishing work to be done, says Community Services Director Cheryl Wiebe. “We do have some work to do on some of the blue docks that were just straightened out last week. Unfortunately, we were not able to finish it for the May long weekend as we had hoped, but it’s a priority project for us in the next couple of weeks.” Five of the docks still need some work, and one at the north end of town requires a full re-decking. As for the five new docks (like this one, between 3rd and 4th St.), Wiebe says they have through-flo vinyl decking, which will limit the maintenance required in the future, and will be more likley to withstand future floods.

GUEST COLUMN

Artists’ countdown to summer begins!

Peachlanders will look forward once again to greeting our South Okanagan neighbours from Oliver at the opening of It’s A Fine Line exhibition at the Peachland Art Gallery this coming Saturday from 12 to 3 pm. There’s an advantage to living in the Central area – you’re only about an hour away from Valley’s end either way. These 14 fibre artists are in particular such a talented and friendly crowd the event will be a real pleasure. You’re all invited; so don’t miss the opportunity! Some of the artists will be there to talk to you and refreshments will be served. Their fibre work is absolutely stunning; their work represents BC and beyond! At the Spirit of Peachland Civics Awards Ceremony May 3, 65 art gallery volunteers were recognized for their tireless support of all that is involved day after day in the running of the Peachland Art Gallery – from greeting people, perhaps even escorting them around the art works, to making payments through the Square Card system. 42 volunteers received their 2018 Award of Excellence in Volunteering on the night following a sincere acknowledgment from PCAC president Deborah Livingstone that they are “a true testament to the spirit of Peachland.” Images of the event captured by photographer Linda Swanson can be found on our website at the underlined link or from www.peachlandarts.ca/current-exhibition. html#AwardofExcellence. The Peachland Art Group will proudly present their 59th Annual Art Show & Sale, It’s a Mystery!, on Saturday, May 25 from 5 to 8 pm and Sunday, May 26 from 10 am to 4 pm in the Peachland Community Centre. Over 40 artists will be represented this year. They have many new members and like most mysteries it should prove to be a ‘thrilling’ show! This year’s theme is a surprise for all members. They’ve been asked to paint a small canvas from a photograph provided each beforehand. The big reveal will happen on Saturday when the various pieces of the puzzle come together; hence the theme – “It’s a Mystery!” Members work in all mediums – acrylics, oils, watercolours, pastels, alcohol inks, charcoal and much more! Everyone is welcome with admission by donation. There’ll be refreshments and entertainment. And so – hope to see you there!!! On Sunday, May 26, the Trail of the Okanagans Society has planned a Tea at the Top of the Fur Brigade Trail. Join members of the Trail of the Okanagans Society at the lookout 400m above Okanagan Lake and support their vision of a biking and hiking trail from Osoyoos to Sicamous. There are two options. Option one is an interpretive hike from the trail head near the top of Log Chute Road in Peachland (after parking at Hardy Falls parking lot and car pooling up). Option two is to bike ride from Priest Camp at Garnett Lake having arrived by car with bike through Summerland and parked at Priest Camp. The bike ride is 8km return to the lookout with panoramic views of Okanagan Lake from Penticton to Kelowna. This is an interpretative hike or trail ride for the whole family. You’ll discover the history of the Fur Brigade Trail from historian Dr. David Gregory and everyone should be back to their cars by 3:30 pm. Tea and goodies at the summit are by donation or 3-year membership at $20. Please register for option 1 or 2 before May 20 by emailing trailokanagans@gmail. com. I hiked the option 1 trail over the saddle with the Peachland Trekkers a few years ago and it is truly worthwhile with amazing views. Be sure to take your cameras, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, and lots of water. Join Friday Night Live starting at 7 pm every other Friday at the Summerland Community Arts & Cultural Centre for a variety of musical entertainment from traditional jazz to country. Next up on May 24 is The Packing House Social Club with Country and Traditional. Enjoy music and refreshments for $10 at the door. Beyond the Studio Door at the Lake Country Art Gallery explores the behind-the-scenes work that goes into the professional practices of artists David Alexander, Malcolm McCormick, Katherine Pickering and Jeroen Witvliet. The gallery has been divided

into four separate spaces to replicate each of the four artists’ studios giving us a glimpse into their daily practices. The exhibition runs until June 23. Voting is now open for the Best of Kelowna 2019 awards and in the Arts and Entertainment category one of the artists nominated is a member of ours, Karen (Kato) Rempel. You will remember Kato’s exhibition Evolution of an Artist as our opening exhibition for the 2019 year. If you would like to vote for Kato as best local artist please click on the underlined link or https://bestof.kelownanow.com/votes. Kato deserves recognition for her explorative geometrical semi-abstracts and varied representational paintings that capture the countries she’s visited. The voting period is open until May 24 at 3 pm. Please spread the word! Kelowna Actors Studio will be staging Lerner and Loewe’s multiple Tony Award-winning musical, Camelot at their Ellis Street Theatre from May 29 through June 16 with a special performance on Father’s Day, June 16, and a Wednesday Tea Matinee at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 5. Camelot explores the enchanting and inspiring tales of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table against a backdrop rich in the pageantry of a legendary, medieval England. ‘Tis the age-old story of the love triangle between King Arthur, Queen Guinevere, and Sir Lancelot set to the lyrics and music of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe. Book your tickets early – this will be a humdinger!!! By the way Kelowna Actors Studio is also nominated for a Best of Kelowna 2019 award under Arts and Entertainment. You might like to consider voting for them as well. Allan Holender has announced that Okanagan Valley Radio a weekend digital radio programme available on your laptop or cell phone has teamed up with Okanagan News Media Group, owners of the Daily Courier and Penticton Herald, to offer wider coverage not only locally but globally. This means a larger lineup of Okanagan based programmes will be forthcoming. In addition to Anna Jacyszyn, a Daily Courier arts and music events contributor, as well as garden expert, The Grower Coach, Ken Salvail and Dr. Jazz, Dr. Larry Hancock, now Kenny “Blues Boss Wayne”, a Blues legend, has joined the family with his first radio show. Plans are also in the works to introduce more columnists to the Okanagan airwaves from both The Daily Courier and Penticton Herald. You can continue enjoying your weekends knowing Okanagan Radio is working to cover your interests. The next newsletter will be the last until September and so if there are any important announcements or programmes to be made be sure to send them to me before then. Hang in! We’re nearly there! We’re that much closer to summer! -Chris Byrd, PCAC director, www.peachlandarts.ca

Victoria Day Closure We are closed Monday May 20. We re-open on Tuesday May 21.

Menzies Richard Allen

Dec 29, 1927 – May 1, 2019

Our wonderful “soldier” husband, father, and grandfather left for his final posting early May 1, 2019. (He was always an early riser so it was fitting!) He will be missed greatly by his wife of 70 years, Joan; daughters: Lynn (Mike); Gail (Helmut); and Leslie (Ken); grandchildren: Michael (Teresa); ); Gregor (Catherine); Lia (Steve); and Neil; Taeya (Carol); Heather (James), Luke (Laura); Richard’s great-grandchildren: Melissa, Maeghan, Mark, Rachel, Sarah; Christopher, Sylvie, Melina, Stephane, Monique, Danielle; Damond, Jayden, Dale, Cameron, Nicole, Lyle, Clein; Piper, Macy; Bobby, Hudson, Tyler, and Jadyn and Richard’s great-great-grandchildren: Elaina, Kaleb, Taeya, Clara, Olivia, Emmalyn, and Jordan. Richard was a gypsy at heart and loved travelling. In the military, he had many postings: 3 tours in Germany; 2 tours in Egypt; 1 tour in Cyprus; and the North Pole! In Europe he and his family were always going somewhere! He retired from the military but still kept travelling: Mexico, across Canada, many summers in the “north” of B.C. In 1989, Richard and his wife, Joan, settled in Peachland and he was a supporter and helper within the community and St. Margaret’s Anglican Church. He was a diligent worker at the 50+ Centre and enjoyed his years of carpet bowling. His favourite pastime over the years was baking and handing out culinary delights, money and Hagendaaz ice cream bars to his grands and greatgrands! Can one ever forget the cream puffs, butter tarts, muffins and cookies?! His title of “Cream Puff King of Peachland” has never been surpassed. There is not enough room or words to express how much he will be missed by family and friends. Please join us May 25, 2019 at Peachland Baptist Church, 4204 Lake Avenue at 1:00 p.m. Reception will follow at the 50+ Centre after the service. Arrangements entrusted with First Memorial Funeral Services, Kelowna. 250-762-2299

FIRE DEPARTMENT FUNDING: Peachland was the backdrop last Friday, when Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General Mike Farnworth announced that smaller volunteer and First Nations fire departments across BC will be eligible for an extra $5 million in funding. The maximum grant amount that each department can apply for is $25,000 – money that can be used for equipment and training through BC’s Community Emergency Preparedness Fund. PHOTO BY ANNICK STOLTZ

RCMP warned Peachlanders earlier this week to check their vehicles, after a scary downhill drive Tuesday morning. “It did not occur to the vehicle owner that there was something wrong until he was driving downhill and the car started to shake,” said West Kelowna RCMP Cpl. Meghan Foster. They were called to the 6200 block of Whinton Cres. just before 10 a.m., where the lug nuts on several vehicles were stolen or loosened. In one case, gas was also syphoned from a vehicle. Anyone with any information can contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.crimestoppers.net.

Big family potluck

planned at the 50+ Spring has definitely sprung! Our community and the 50+ Activities Centre has been buzzing with all the different events and activities. On April 24, our Spring into Spring themed potluck was a huge success. Attendees enjoyed the revised table setup and table activities (with prizes!) After a good meal, singer/ songwriter Niki Martinus performed her musical talents for us. Everyone enjoyed her performance so much that there was barely a peep from the audience as everyone was so intent on listening, especially to her rendition of “Hallelujah.” We would like to thank all the groups who take their turn on kitchen duties at our monthly potlucks. Many hands make light work. April’s Potluck was hosted by the Carpet Bowlers Group, who meet twice a week, Tuesdays at 9:30am and Saturdays at 10am. It’s a drop-in activity with a great group of people, and they always welcome newcomers. Carpet Bowling provides exercise, game strategy, and a good social time followed with goodies. Bill Goring is the Activity Leader for the Carpet Bowlers and can answer any questions you might have. This month’s potluck will be hosted on Friday, May 24 by the Yoga group. Since our potluck is around Mother’s Day and Father’s Day we decided this was a great time to celebrate family (grandparents, parents, siblings, children, etc) and to remind the citizens of Peachland that our potlucks are for ALL AGES, including the very young and the well-seasoned. Once again we will have an activity with prizes, to be followed with music by the group Triskele Celtic Music. Triskele’s Celtic music includes traditional Irish and Scottish ballads and airs, contemporary Celtic songs and lively reels and jigs. Bring your whole family, but come early as tables fill up quickly. Mark your calendars! Sunday, May 19 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. we will be hosting our annual Victoria Day Pancake Breakfast. Everyone is welcome, so bring your family and friends. Delicious pancakes, sausages, a special fruit compote, and juice or coffee. Adults $5, children aged 6-12 $3, and 5 and under are free. Friday, June 7 at noon is our Thank You Tea for our members 80 Years and over. Friday, June 14 is our annual Bus Trip – Don’t forget to purchase your tickets! This year we are heading to R.J. Haney Heritage Village & Museum in Salmon Arm. Members $30 and Non-Members $32 (invite a friend ). Tickets can be purchased during office hours at the 50+ from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Mon to Fri. Thursdays at 6:45pm is BINGO – Everyone Welcome! Last, but not least, on Friday, May 3 at the Peachland Civic Awards, our Past President, Carol White was nominated for Years of Service by the Directors of the PDRS for her contributions, caring, dedication, and achievements over the years. Our VP/Secretary, Linda Norden, gave a heartfelt, yet witty, presentation of the nomination expressing how much we value all she has done for the club. -Submitted by Heidi Slyngbom, PDRS 50+ Activity Centre
