HEALD GREEN FARM CELEBRATES AWARDS SUCCESSES Triple joy for Nixons in national and regional farming gongs
A Heald Green farm is basking in the glory of recognition in THREE farming awards. Nixons Farm scooped a silver award in the Family Farming Business of the Year category of the British Farming Awards - a prestigious national award organised by Farmers Guardian magazine. And their newly launched Moody Cows Tea Room earned a second place in the Diversification category of the Cheshire Farms Awards. The award is all the more remarkable as the tea rooms was only opened in May of this year as part of a raft of recent developments at the farm. Also in the Cheshire Farms Awards there was recognition for Nixons’ more traditional work as they were named ‘Best Beef Feeding Herd’. The awards come after the farm has spent the last few years completely renovating its play areas and tea rooms to provide a high quality yet reasonably priced family day out. The farm has suffered from fire damage in recent years and the recognition in these awards has been welcomed by staff as the culmination of their hard work to keep the family business founded 85 years ago going in an ever-competitive market. General Manager Julie Egglestone, paying tribute to the entire Nixons team, said: “It is due to a really strong team effort from both family and non-family here.”
