Series of shop burglaries over weekend THE OWNER of a Gomersal deli believes that a spate of burglaries that occurred within days of each other could be linked.

Thousands of pounds’ worth of damage was caused to the premises on Oxford Road on Sunday night. And Mrs Grainger-Mead thinks it could have been the same culprits who broke into her shop that raided other small business-

the till and taken the money.” Mrs Grainger-Mead, who has lived in Gomersal for 24 years, said the damage will cost around £3,000 to fix. “We’re going to need a whole new window, new door frames, as well as new doors and CCTV,” said the business owner. Having taken on the upscale shop just 18 months ago, 46-yearold Mrs Grainger-Mead said the burglary has been a “real kick in the teeth”. “It just makes me mad because people know how hard we work and for people to just come and do that, it’s just soul-destroying,” said Mrs Grainger-Mead who,

after reviewing CCTV footage, believes there were two culprits responsible. She described one as tall and thin. “These people need to be stopped. They are targeting small business owners,” she added.
