THE FINAL PUSH Election hopefuls throw everything they’ve got into clinching your vote HE last week of frenetic electioneering is under way – and we have stories from inside the various campaigns in North Kirklees. There’s been a rumpus involving claims – now partially retracted by the Conservatives – that Batley and Spen Labour candidate Jo Cox neither lives or is registered to vote here. On the other side of the district, Labour’s nominee for Dewsbury and Mirfield was called a “chicken” for pulling out of a TV debate with incumbent Tory Simon Reevell. Paula Sherriff is believed to have withdrawn from an event in Thornhill due to a family commitment. She did, though, take part in a debate between the candidates on local TV station Made In Leeds. Reports suggested that the Green Party’s Adrian Cruden did well, while Lib Dem candidate Ednan Hussain was seemingly not on form.
