ARMED AND DANGEROUS

Two shootings in Dewsbury put police on alert ARMED police patrols have been increased in Dewsbury following a spate of targeted attacks this week. Shots were fired and roads were closed on Monday and Tuesday as police investigated two separate incidents, which officials say are not linked. On Wednesday, officers were also called to Spen Valley Road in Ravensthorpe to a suspected arson attack on a parked vehicle.

Four males aged 17, 17, 19 and 29, were arrested in connection with the first incident on Monday evening, when a car crashed into a barrier at Dewsbury Police Station and gunshots were reported. It is believed that a white Vauxhall Astra hit the barrier as the driver was fleeing gunmen, who then fired shots at the car after it crashed. Low Road and Ravenshouse Road in Dewsbury Moor, were cordoned off at around 1.30pm on Tuesday

No arrests have been made in connection with the Dewsbury Moor shooting or the Ravensthorpe arson attack. Inspector Chris Hughes, of Dewsbury and Mirfield Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Over the past few days there have been a number of incidents in the Dewsbury area and our commu-
