How This Newall Green Man Once Known As ‘Bulletproof Jack’ Turned His Life Around By the age of 14, Jack Hawksworth had already been sentenced to ten months at a youth offenders’ institute for burglary; at 16 he received another term for robbery and just a year after that his best friend who he grew up with in his Newall Green neighbourhood was murdered. The incident prompted his mum to buy him a bulletproof vest in fear that he’d be next - which led to him being dubbed by both the locals and Police as ‘Bulletproof Jack’. Things came to a head when, aged 21, Jack was sentenced to seven years for robbery. It’s a path that very few people recover from, but instead of continuing a life of crime, Jack, now 26, has completely turned his life around. Read how on page 3...
