This book is dedicated to all the cool kids that grow up to all these things that the current generation missed out on...
The Superman S Remember drawing these every and anywhere, on school desks to notebooks. I don’t remember how this trend started but everyone drew them.
Furby This furry hamster/owl like toy was the popular in thing in the 90s and some say it was creepy and others thought it was cute but it definitely made a statement for the 90s.
Nokia 3310 The most wanted phone in the universe, well in the early 00’s. This brick phone brings back so many memories. The battery life used to last up to a week, but with these smartphones today they last half a day if your lucky. The popular games played were Snakes, Bumper and Space Impact and also composing polyphonic ringtones, copying them from friends to get the latest song. The good old days.
Where’s Wally? Wally was the hardest person to find especially when seeing look-a-likes in the crowd. When you do find him you jump for joy and turn the page and the process starts again. I bet when turning to this page you pointed at Wally before reading this.
Tamagotchi The virtual pet, if your mum didn’t let you have a real pet after begging and begging, Tamagotchi was the next best thing. Every kid had this strapped to their trousers and feed their pets on its beck and call.
Marbles These little and big things was like a trading market in the the playground and also a battle, to try and see who’s marble can hit the opponent’s one first to win the marble. I remember people carrying a jar full.
Rubik Cube Fresh Prince (Will Smith) made this look easy by completing it in under 10 seconds, but still till this day I haven’t mastered it, but if you have here is a gold star!
Bubble Writing This style of handwritten font was drawn everywhere by everyone, if you couldn’t draw it then you wasn’t cool enough. Just kidding.
Alien Baby These gooey alien babies was most children’s first strange baby. There was also a myth that if you rubbed two of them together on their backs they would produce another baby. True or not they were the cool toy to show off in the playground.
Pokemon Pokemon, did you catch them all? I didn’t there were thousands of them. This sensation was played by every kid in the planet. Whether you drew them, watched the television show or collected every single card. The aim was to collect and win as many Pokemon cards as possible it was like a battlefield. My favourite was Jigglypuff as it was the secret weapon that put the opponents character to sleep.
Troll Doll Even though they look ugly in my opinion, at least their hair used to get done or left a wild mess. I’m pretty sure everyone had this done in there collection of toys.
Bop It The most frustrating game, didn’t you hate when press the button but it says you didn’t and you lose. How far did you get in this game?
Knock down Ginger I’m pretty sure every kid played this game. One person is dared to knock or ring on a stranger’s door , you and everyone else has to run away before the person opens on the door. If you ever got caught then you didn’t pass the test. This game could get you in a lot of trouble. Be safe.
90s Computers These bad boys were the best invention at the time. You could play games even though there was only one or two, like pinball and solitaire. But the best thing was the paint box, creating whatever your heat desired. But then later on there was the internet, and at the time there was not much to really do other than play more games as this was way before social networking. But there was a time when we had to use dial up internet you couldn’t use the home phone at the same time, so when someone needed to use the phone you had to come off the internet. We have come a long way with technology now.
Bus Fare Remember getting on those big red old school London buses and the ticket inspector used to come around and take your bus fare, 40p for children and 80p for adults. Those times were cheap and cheerful. Now we have oystercards, but to pay to get on a bus now is ÂŁ2.40 OMG.

Kalideoscope These dope things were so fascinating, you look through the kaleidoscope and its like your eyes go on an adventure of seeing all these colourful abstract shapes and each turn forms a new caption. It was truly beautiful.
Tape Player Before the IPod, Mp3 player and even the Walkman. Everyone was walking around, bopping their heads to these babies, tape players. If the tape every messed up or unravelled then it’s game over. But it was definitely a treasure to have.
Street lights are on! “The street lights are on! Depending on how strict your parents were, when the lights come on it means hanging and playing in the streets or neighbourhood area time is up and to come in inside. Hurry before you get into trouble!
School Dinners You either hated them or loved them but school dinners were the highlight in primary school. Remember eating rectangle pizza, smiley potato chips, turkey twizzlers and soggy fish fingers? or if you don’t then you were #teampackedlunch.
Scooby Doo’s It came in and out of fashion but when it was in fashion it was crazy. The £1 strings created these cool woven designs and were used as key rings, bag and bracelet accessories. I even remember people doing them in class and getting them confiscated it was that addictive.
Spice Up Your Life! Girl power took over and was the statement for 90s and 00s. Spice Girls, the global phenomena changed girls and women of all ages lives with their music and brought unity. I’m sure every girl and their mother were dancing and jumping around in their room singing in a hair brush to their songs.
Beyblade If you wasn’t carefully with handling this toy with care, you could get many cuts when playing this game. Nevertheless it was awesome but the deadly war zone was not something to mess about with. Losing was never an option and I’ve seen many of these battles left in tears. What was your experience like when playing?
