Realizzare un’installazione ben congegnata e capace di supportare successivi ampliamenti e modifiche è importante, per il system integrator, almeno quanto soddisfare le richieste espresse in prima battuta dal cliente, soprattutto nei contesti più complessi, ma non solo. Il cuore dell’unità hardware principale NION è un potente DSP basato su multi processori Sharc (Hammerhead); consente 32 flussi In/Out analogici scalabili (card da 4 o da 8 canali) e 64 canali CobraNet scalabili via gateway CAB, per ciascuna unità, ma è espandibile in maniera illimitata servendosi di più unità NION. Per la ridondanza del sistema (o condivisione risorse) è disponibile il bus XDAB da 448 canali, mentre le altre connessioni sono le porte seriali RS-232, 422 e 485, controllo Ethernet TCP/IP, interfaccia GPIO a 20 contatti. NION funziona su sistema operativo Unix embedded con interfaccia MS Windows e supporta audio fino a 96 kHz in differenti formati.

THE MEDIAMATRIX SOLUTION: NION MediaMatrix is based on the principle of flexibility: any device can be managed by any TCP-IP control device, with no limitation in audio processing and its distribution, inside a building like at a large terminal hub or even an entire city. The possibility also exists to integrate equipment at a later stage, if requirements change. The heart of NION, the principal hardware unit, is a powerful DSP based on Sharc (Hammerhead) multiprocessors: it allows 32 In/Out analogue scalable (4 or 8 channel card) flows, and 64 Cobranet scalable channels via CAB gateway for each unit but can be expanded in an unlimited way. The XDAB 448 channel bus is available for system redundancy (or resource sharing), while the other connections are the RS-232, 422 and 485 serial ports, Ethernet TCP/IP control and GPIO interface with 20 contacts. NION functions on an embedded Unix operating system with MS Windows interface and supports audio to 96 kHz in different formats. TOOLS DEDICATED TO THE SYSTEM INTEGRATOR Flexibility and scalability become tangible in the Nware development, configuration and control tool: it is the programming platform with which the system integrator adapts the system according to the customer’s requirements without precluding future developments.
