Intersecting by Dennis Jenders

above:  Nearly 120 years ago the Third Ward was devastated and gutted by a fire that required assistance from as far away as Chicago and Oshkosh. In total, 440 buildings were destroyed. That tragedy provided a canvas for architects which can be seen today in the continuity of design and materials. The Milwaukee Public Market represents one of the newest buildings located in the Historic Third Ward. The Third Ward renaissance began a few years back and the area has really blossomed with specialty shops, restaurants and the art community. With the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, Eisner Museum of Advertising and Design and the very popular Gallery Night and Day it is easy to find inspiration in the area.
