Introduction What you are about to read is how the Louisiana purchase was discovered. I have found information to help me write this. I have worked hard on the information I'm about to tell you.. The main topic of the story is the Louisiana purchase and Lewis and Clark. Lewis and Clark was t he leader and so was Thomas Jefferson they found lots of stuff on there way like animals and Indian tribs. My goal is that you learn as much information as possible from what I have learned. My goal is also that you like what I wrote. The main topic of the story is the Louisiana purchase and Lewis and Clark. Lewis and Clark was the leader and so was Thomas Jefferson they found lots of stuff on there way like animals and Indian tribs. i may not have the best information on my book thing but I found lots of information and used it. I hope you think that my topic is interesting and you like the information.

How it happened The "Louisiana purchase" was on April 30, 1803. The 13 colony's , before the "Louisiana purchase" was a small little state. Louisiana and the other states where much bigger than the little 13 colony's before. Most the other states hade a little space for them to travel to the ocean, but the 13 colony's didn't have any. The 13 colony's wanted more so they hade war and bought the other people's land. They didn't kick them out but they let them live there regular life. Lois an Clark was chosen to be the one leading the everybody to win more land. Before the 13 colony's bought Louisiana from France. It had owned Louisiana till the "Louisiana purchase". The picture on the title shows how big Louisiana was.Clark told the Indians that the Louisiana was not owned by France any- more. Louis didn't say that "they" bought it from them cause they didn't want to start a war. The reason Lewis and Clark bought Louisiana was because they wanted to explore the land. After they purchased Louisiana they sent a group of people out to explore the land they had just bought. The group of explorers called themselves The Corps Of Discovery. On there journey they discovered a tribe that had to important people people in it, Toussaint Charbonneau and his wife Sacagawea. Those tow where very very important to the Corps Of Discovery because they both translated a language, Sacagawea a Native American translated the language of the tribes. That was cool!

When it happened The "Louisiana purchase" happened on April 30, 1803. The "Louisiana purchase" was one of the biggest territory's forming the 13 colony's . The 13 colony's was just a little state until they decided they needed more land. The "Louisiana purchase" was 214 years and 55 days ago, That's a long time ago!The trade was signed on May 2. Back in that time Louisiana was the only land they had purchased ( in other words bought). Almost all the rest of the land that they got was ether that they won a war and got the land or they like took it kind of. In other words they stole the land somehow.

How much they bought it for Lewis and Clark were the one's who bought Louisiana. They bought it for 15,000,000$ for 828,000,000 square miles. Back then it was a good offer out nowadays that would be like... nothing! I don't want to say that much because I have a hole other chapter in this book about that. Thomas Jefferson told the Native Americans that the French had moved out but the thing he didn't tell them that they had bought it from them that they bought i from the French. If they had told them they would have probably had a war over the land because the Indians wanted it but Lewis an Clark had it because they bought still thought they didn't have enough land. And they had bought it and the Indians hadn't.

How they agreed to sell On April 30, 1803 was when Lewis and Clark purchased Louisiana. The representatives of in France accepted the offer for 15,000,000 dollars for the 828,000,000 square mile of land. The representatives of Paris thought it was a good deal but nowadays it would be a lot more money. For a couple square miles it would be 1,000,000 dollars but they bought 828,000,000 square miles for 15,000,000 dollars. Another reason is that they purchased Louisiana was the France had just lost a war and they where becoming broke because of the war they had just had. So France wanted money to help them buy food to survive. The Native Amaricans that lived in Louisiana didn't know about the offer that France and Thomas Jefferson had just made by trading there land to the 13 colony's. They didn't tell the Native Amaricans because thy didn't want to start a war between them. They said that the French where moving out and the Native Amaricans where all happy about it but the thing they didn't say was that they had bought the teratory from them so that they wouldn't get mad. There where many tribes that they had to lie to becuase they didn't want to get them mad.

How much it would be now a days The "Louisiana purchase" was purchased for 15,000,000 dollars nowadays that would by like about 400,000,000 dollars that's a lot of money. Like 900,000 dollars is a lot of money but what we are talking about right now is 400,000,000 dollars... !It's not thousand it's ONE MILLION!!! Even 1.5 million (150,000,000) is a lot but we are talking about !400,000,000! When they bought Louisiana they wanted to explor the land they had just bought so Thomas Jefferson chose one person to help him lead the expedition and that person was called Lewis and Clark.

How much land they had before Louis an Clark was directed by Thomas Jefferson the president of the 13 colony's at that time. The United States was really the 13 colony's back then. The "Louisiana purchase" was the most thank they had purchased out of all of them.

The "Louisiana purchase", when they purchased it was almost as much land as they had before. In other words they had almost double the amount of space they had before. The Louisiana purchase was for 828,000,000 square miles of land before they had about that much land.

How much they have now They double the size of the United State . The Louisiana purchase was 828,000,000 square miles long, almost as much land as they had before the Louisiana purchase. That is about how much I thought because I read something that said that they almost purchased as much as they already had. The "Louisiana purchase" was the most land Lewis and Clark had back then. The nation was slowly growing. Before the Louisiana purchase it was just the 13 colony's. Before the Louisiana purchase the 13 colony's was only 13 States before then Louisiana purchase. Louisiana was about as much land as the 13 colony's so when they purchased Louisiana it doubled the size of the 13 colony's so then they weren't the 13 colony's wasn't the 13 colonys any more any more.

The troubles of crossing Louisiana Louisiana was a very hard place to purchase because there where some obstacles they had to go through. All though the "Louisiana purchase" was the most land they had gotten those obstacles where involving that. The reason the Louisiana was purchased was because a group of people involving Lewis and Clark and Thomas Jefferson purchased Louisiana was because they wanted to explore the territory of Louisiana. They couldn't just explore that land they had to buy Louisiana first. France was also really pour and couldn't afford food. One of the hard things about the Louisiana purchase was that they had to pay the $15,000,000 for the Louisiana teratory.

The websit es I used I got lots of this information from my teacher and from a website. My teacher gave me lots of this information, but, some of it is from me. Some of this information is from books I read about the Louisiana purchase and some is from em.m.wikipedia.org. I have used the information and charged it into my own words. I wrote this chapter because if you use information from some website you could get sent to jail. I hope you use em.m.wikipedia.org for somthing to find information on because I think it is a great website.

This picture shows part of the trail that Louis and Clark falowed on a there journey. It also shows the the 13 colony's witch was what they had they had before the Louisiana purchase.

Sacagawea Sacagawea was a really important part of the Louisiana purchase. The reason they she was so important was because she was the one who translated the different tribes languages so that the group of explorers knew what the what the tribes kindof wanted them to do or if they needed something she would help them with it. Sacagawea came from a tribe herself so that is how she can translate those languages. Most of the explorers only spoke English but Sacagawea spoke all the tribe languages. Sacagawea was born in May 1788 and died in December 20, 1812 or 1884. When she was 12 she and some other girls where kidnapped by a nother tribe that falowed to a battle with many deaths of the Shoshone: four men, four women, and several boys. At age 13 she was married to a man called Toussaint Charbonneau. During the expedition Sacagawea gave birth to a baby boy but she keeped going on the journey with the rest of the explorers. If you have seen on any coins there is a lady with a baby on her back, that's Sacagawea. She was such a great help to the explorers that they probably couldn't survive without her becuase they wouldn't beable to under stand the languages of some of the tribs of the Native Amaricans. They couldn't under stand them but Sacagawea was one herself so she could under stand the language better then anybody.

Conclusion My conclusion is that the "Louisiana purchase" was a very important part of the 13 colony's. The "Louisiana purchase" was very important it was almost as much land as we had before. The "Louisiana purchase" was 828,000 square miles, before we had about 900,000 square miles of land. Before the "Louisiana purchase" it was just the 13 colony's. I hope you liked it and that you learned somthing becuase I have been working for a really long time.
