How it started The United states started off with 13 colonies. If you have seen the united states flag then you must have seen the red and white stripes. Have you ever wondered what the stripes mean?Well they mean the first 13 colonies and the stars mean on the blue rectangle the last 50 states that made the united states the united states. So the 13 colonies were a group of British people that were on the east coast of north America and wanted independence in 1776 and made the united states. The was next to the north south which were New Hampshire, Massachusetts Bay, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. They had a lot of same things like political things, legal systems and constitutional. They were destructed by the protestant English speakers. They were also part of the Britain's possession in there new world. The Britain was basically taking all the colonies.By the 1750's they teamed up together instead of going right at Britain they used protection from the rights as english men and the principle no taxation without representation.By the grievances (by imagining the wrong thing) with the British government led to the American revolution which the colonies collaborated to form the continental congress which made independence in 1776 and became a national government By 1840 people Millions of Americans!Hawaii was the last state to be purchased.

The travelers and who were they Lewis and Clark There were travelers that that president Thomas Jefferson picked but first Thomas Jefferson picked Clark to go but Clark did not want to go by himself so he picked his best friend Louis to go along with him on the journey to investigate the area of the Louisiana territory so they new what they were buying. They went off and explored but they had to bring a couple of things with them which were some presents to give to some of the native Americans to see if they could trade anything. Things they had to eat were lots of meats ,fish , berries, vegetables, Fruits and roots, flour, salt, coffee, pork, meal, corn ,sugar, beans and lard.About 93 lbs of portable soup and a concoction that was boiled until the gelatinous and left out to dry hard salt was also a flavor enhancer Lewis and clark found different animals like, prairie dogs which they called barking squirrels, lots and lots of bison because the Indians wanted them for clothes food and blankets, coyotes were rarely found at that time but they still saw them.

Sacajawea helping When Louis and clark came to the Oregon on the Oregon trail, while they were there they heard about the gold rush they were initially going to go when they encountered the Indians they did not know how to talk to them but helped them to translate what they said because Sacagawea talked multiple languages and they spent a day or week with them so that they could use the presents they brought with them for the Indians so they could trade things. So they were trying to trade things for food and giving things to them so they could stay for a while with Sacagawea on hand so she could translate all the things she said Sacagawea was a big part of Louis and clarks journey. They ate tons of onions!! They one time had to eat there horses because they were starving and that was the only thing they could eat at one point.
