Introduction I'm writing about the westward expansion the thirteen colonies and facts of why they moved west too parts of Oregon and California had a big part to do with that. I chose this topic because it sounded interesting about how much information there was and about how our world is right now in the United States and how different it was back then. I got some interesting facts and I hope you enjoy my presentation about westward expansion thirteen colonies.

Chapter one Luisiana purchase Thomas Jefferson wanted the New Orleans and west Florida for between two and ten million dollars and he sent James Monroe with others to try to get it from France but the Luisiana territory offered a lot more surprisingly they offered 15 million dollars for all the Luisiana. France decided to sell it because they thought that the us`was going to attack them if they said no do they said yes but for 15 million dollars and it was good for the United States.
The Luisiana contained the Mississippi River and it stretched out to the Rocky Mountains and the Gulf of Mexico. That was a threat to there part because it aloud them to go to boat to travel up the river to buy supplies and other stuff. I The Luisiana purchase was 828,000 square miles of land west of the Mississippi River it was 3 cents per acre! For 828,000. The Luisiana purchase made the United States be stronger with more territory but it also doubled the size of the United States. They got the Luisiana purchase in 1803 April 30. The Luisiana purchase contained 13 States added to the 13 States that we already had. Right now the Luisiana purchase is 11 States the, States are Luisiana, Missouri, Arkansas, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming and Oklahoma and part of Texas.

The Mississippi River is one of the best properties of land come with the Luisiana it was used to hall lots of things up and down the river and you could also come out to the ocean. The Mississippi River is 2,320 miles long and hade lots of nature and culture. The Louisiana purchase gave the United States a lot because they hade to rivers connected to the Louisiana that were big and others. The States that were in the Louisiana purchase are all now in the middle of the United States and probably some of the most populated like Oklahoma, Colorado and Texas. The cities are big like Houston, Texas Denver, Colorado Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Chapter two Mexico The territory of Mexico was 529,000 square miles of land the third biggest they got ( Luisiana was the biggest at 828,000 square miles and Alaska the second was 586,000 square miles) but Mexico held a space that you could get to the Pacific Ocean and it had California which has some of the biggest cities in United States it also had Texas with other big states like Houston and Dallas California had los angels and San Francisco. It also is bordered by RĂo grande witch you can hall stuff out Mexico. The ocean might have meant the most to them though because they could do a lot with the ocean and some of the biggest places we have right now. Mexico was the best thing. The war started with a group from Mexico came they wanted to
fight and the us agreed. So on February second 1848 they ended the Mexican- American war and won over Mexico so they had Texas, California, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Utah as part of a the United States. The Mexico territory gave United States only one spot left to get near them that they New they wanted was the Oregon territory. When the us us got the Mexican territory they were tired because there had been in war for over 2 years. The Mexican - American was started in the spring of 1846 and Thomas Jefferson hadn't had new land since they got Louisiana and most of the people thought that they needed the land from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. So Thomas Jefferson thought why don't we go into war with them since they don't want to get rid of it for money well go into war. When the United States did get Mexican territory they only got half of it so all the area that is for Hispanic people would have been United States Territory si were lucky that we don't have all the Mexico territory or the Hispanic people might have to live in the United States or they could move too a different country and settle down there.

Chapter three Oregon Territory At the time Oregon was the only little space left to get for them because they had the 13 colonies, Louisiana purchase and Mexico territory but Oregon territory was still left but Spain, Russia, Great Britain and US all wanted the Oregon. So after a little while the US made a deal with Great Britain they would share the part so US now has Oregon, Washington, Idaho part of Montana and Wyoming. When the United States get Oregon territory it was in 1846.When the us got Oregon ground they decided that after they had some States in there whole territory so they decided that they should turn Oregon territory into States Oregon territory was turned into 5 states the states where Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. Something that is interesting is that Louisiana purchase, Mexico territory and Oregon territory there were all states that turned into there name New Mexico, Louisiana and Oregon The Oregon territory came with the were all turned into states.
Oregon trail that was handy for the United States because it means an easier travel from other areas until the Oregon territory. The Oregon trail started at Missouri went through Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, Idaho and Oregon while touching parts of Washington and Iowa.
The Oregon territory stretched out from the pacific oceans up to the Rocky Mountains and is filled with nature. It contained all that the

United States wanted. The people who found the Oregon territory were Lewis and Clark with the corps of discovery and then after they found it they told there group and the United States but other countries herd and considered it and said they wanted it but at the end the United States and Great Britain agreed to share it with each other and United States got a little more but it benefitted both groups. Also the States from the Oregon territory were made States on February 14 1859 that took almost 10 years. Most people started moving to Oregon from independence Missouri and traveled to Oregon for territory or growing crops on farms and for a better life on farm land it was a tired journey for everyone. Also some people followed part of the Oregon trail and then cut of at a trail towards California for the gold rush that was going on down there some traveled to Oregon settled and then went down to California for the gold rush knowing that they still had there territory in Oregon when they came back so Oregon and California where filled with people the time Lewis and Clark discovered Oregon with the Oregon trail.

Chapter 4 United States The United States of America now had 50 States all purchased in just three different sections that were known for different things like there culture or there nature activity but they all had something different and that's part of reason because every culture had something different that they wanted. Some had large rivers to transport things some had more food than others and some had both. The United States made three different cultures into 50 states most are about the same size but some are smaller than the others. The United States has a flag that represents them. The 13 lines that are red and white represent the first 13 colonies and the stars have 50 of them which represents the States we have right now. I think that it is pretty cool that they made something important for the United States represent for the pioneers and others that helped us get all the territory. I bet it was really hard work doing what they did it's so amazing what they did and I'm glad they did it. The States know aren't known for there country they were in there know 50 calm States. The States that we have know are Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Montana, Idaho, Texas, Colorado, Kansas, Wyoming, Missouri, Iowa, Florida, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Alaska, Alabama, Minnesota, Michigan, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, Ohio, New Jersey, Kentucky, Illinois,
